Hotel El Silencio del Campo has become one of my all-time favorite stays. Excellent accomodations. Brand new, cosy individual nits/cabanas, very clean and the best location - across the road from the Arenal Volcanoe. Hotel El Sliencio del Campo is amazing. The location was perfect as were the hot springs at the hotel. My favorite moment was sitting in the hot spring pool, drinking a passion fruit margarita and watching the toucans in the trees overhead.

This place was amazing!! Close to town, beautiful grounds, peaceful villas and very friendly staff!! We had a wonderful stay at El Silencio for our honeymoon! We actually wish we had stayed here 1 or 2 more days during our 10 days in Costa Rica. We stayed on the coast for part of our trip as well. All of the staff were very friendly... we were warmly welcomed at check in with cocktails and best wishes for our honeymoon. The little bungalows were beautiful and clean...comfortable with good air conditioning. The property itself was gorgeous and well maintained. The landscape was well taken care of and beautifully maintained, loved the spa area and hot springs area, first class all the way. We did not eat lunch or dinner on the property but did have breakfast included. They had a few selections you could pick from on the menu, my husband and I each had something different everyday and it was all good. Best Gallo Pinto we had during our trip! I would highly recommend this property to visit while in the Arenal/La Fortuna area. This is a great place for adults and couples..... not sure I would pick it if I had kids... there is a small pool but I think this resort caters more towards the adult crowd. This is a wonderful, quiet hotel with a volcano view from every cabin. The grounds are beautifully kept and it even has its own natural spa. Because of the layout and number of rooms, it offers quite a bit of privacy and you often find yourself with your own area, which is great. The staff greets you with a cold fruit drink upon check-in and are very helpful in making sure you have a wonderful stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It had an extremely helpful staff and had lovely hot springs that were amazing after a day of adventuring. It was located, in my opinion, perfectly and was about a 5-10 minute drive from all the great restaurants as well as very close to some of the greatest attractions including the nicer hot springs in the area […] and the beautiful catarata (waterfall). The rooms all are individual cabins and were really great. We could see the volcano perfectly from our patio, like all the rooms. The only thing that could be a drawback would be if you are reliant on the internet the service was only really good toward the reception desk at the front, although it was free. I chose this location based on the high guest review rating on Expedia and found those reviews to be accurate. The hotel next door often plays disco music on weds nights and that was one of the nights I was there. The music was so load so I went to the front desk to investigate but the Hotel El Silencio del Campo front staff acted like they couldn't hear it. "Music,what music?" My friends and I started laughing because it was so ridiculous to have to yell over load music that apparently isn't playing. Then it started pouring rain and the music stopped. I felt greatly relieved that my problem was over but I was disappointed that the front desk acted so indifferent to the situation. I would be accepted them saying that the music was coming from the large resort next door and unfortunately we can do a thing about it. One more thing, some of the hot pools are a little gross with "algae" floating around. Read more

We really enjoyed our stay - I always appreciate that stand-alone cabins don't transfer any noise from adjacent rooms! The grounds are beautiful and very well-maintained, which was a nice introduction to the wondrous nature of Costa Rica. I recommend you ask for your credit card to be charged in USD to ensure the same rate is used to convert from colones to USD that was charged from the stated USD per day rate, otherwise you might be caught in the difference between the buy/sell rate. My husband and I stayed at El Silencio del Campo for 5 days at the end of November. We chose this hotel based on the glowing reviews on expedia and trip advisor. And we were so happy we stayed here. This hotel did not disappoint and deserves the highest of recommendations. Prior to our trip, I e-mailed the hotel half a dozen times to book excursions […] and with other questions. Eylin responded to all my inquiries in a timely manner and assisted us with choosing our excursions to ensure we had the best time in Arenal. When we arrived at the hotel, Eylin was there with a warm welcome and even remembered us from the e-mails. The staff and service at this hotel was top notch. Everyone was courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. The hotel room/cabin was clean, comfortable, spacious, private, and peaceful. We had two large windows in our room which were screened in. We had the windows open at night to let in the fresh air and the sounds of the lush surroundings and rain (we were there during rainy season). On our third night at the hotel, the sky cleared up at sunset and we had the most amazing view of the volcano. The restaurant offered a wonderful complimentary a la carte breakfast. Lunch and dinner were decent and the prices were very reasonable. The grounds were really beautiful and it was like staying in a little piece of paradise. The location was great - close enough to town, but also quiet enough to be away from it all. The service was amazing - Eliomar […] was so incredibly helpful and was always willing to help book any tours (with no additional cost). The food was very good and reasonably priced. We ate breakfast there every morning, plus had one lunch and one dinner, all of which were great. Since it is "low season", the property was pretty quiet so there were times we had the pool or hot springs all to ourselves. A truly fantastic place that I would highly recommend to anyone. When we first arrived in Arenal, it was very foggy and we never saw the volcano. After getting checked in and having all of our excursions verified, we headed to our cabin and hung out for awhile. A few hours later, I just happened to look out the front window and saw the most spectacular view of the volcano!!! This property allows for amazing views […] right from the rooms and the grounds are so beautifully done it was easy to just sit on the porch for hours and do nothing. We ate at the hotel's restaurant several times for both lunch and dinner (delicious) and most times we were served by Larsen. He was so friendly and helpful and even recommended another trip for us that we are so glad we did - a visit to La Fortuna waterfall! I also got the free welcoming facial that I read was about 5 minutes long - not true - it was a mud mask, scalp/neck/shoulders/arms massage that lasted nearly 20 minutes!!! The hot spring at the hotel was never crowded and often we found ourselves having the whole pool to ourselves! I emailed the hotel several times before arriving and had all of our excursions booked, which was very convenient once we got there. If you do the III/IV white water rapids tour, go through Desafio Tours and ask for Diaz as your tour guide - he really helped make that trip! I would also strongly recommend going to see La Fortuna Waterfall - it can be done on your own just by getting a taxi and well worth it. El Silencio will definitely be on my places to visit list again! Read more

We stayed at several hotels/resorts in Costa Rica and this one was my favorite!! The grounds are beautiful, the staff is very friendly and the little villas were comfortable. The location is close enough to town that you can drive, but I would have been perfectly content staying at the resort all day and gazing at the volcano from our porch, walking […] the grounds, or enjoying the hot springs. We were traveling with three teenagers and they loved it too. The restaurant was good and reasonably priced and we had several tasty meals there. Larsen, our waiter, was warm, friendly and very entertaining! We ate at a restaurant in town one night and wished we had stayed at El Silencio and had dinner with our funny and friendly waiter. Talk about a gorgeous hotel! Our extended family of 9 had 2 villas (yes they have roll away beds- for free). We were so comfortable and couldn't have enjoyed the gorgeous settings. The hotel price includes breakfast and the hot springs. We even were provided with free 20 minute facials at the hotel spa because we stayed 2 nights--unexpected but welcome! […] Food was great--they have the typical gallo pinto (beans and rice) breakfast and American favorites including omelets and pancakes. Just got home today and already planning out trip back to this hotel! Just a tip-- villas 1-3 are in the front so you get some street noise but have unblocked views of the volcano! The included robes are a great touch. The hotel is close to town compared to many others in the area so if you do want to leave the property it is a very short, inexpensive cab ride.
