The location of the hotel was ideal for my husband and I to walk everywhere, including all the great Italian restaurants, cafes and bakery's while still being centrally located to all the sites. This was a nice hotel in a good location. We were able to walk many places, easily found the subway, and used the trolley. There was no need for a car while we were in Boston. This is by far the best hotel that I've been at in my travels. I have stayed in hotels all over the world and my treatment at Fairmont was exceptional. The staff at the hotel was very helpful and curteous. When we arrived, our room wasn't available yet, but the staff quickly upgraded us to a "Junior Suite" (very nice). They offer complimentary gourmet […] breakfast, H'orderves and deserts. We are talking about gourmet hams, eggs, juices etc...for breakfast, gourmet hams and salami, oysters on the half shell one day etc., and cheescake, cookies etc.. for desserts. Their sodas and waters are free when you get them in the lobby. Their rooms were clean and contemporary. We are on the bay but close to "Little Italy" on the North End. This area is preferred to the "Back Bay" due to its more peaceful surroundings. It was always relaxing sitting on the bench overlooking the Charles river. The hotel was in the best location for touring, eating, people watching, catching a water taxi. We will stay there again when we go back to Boston. The people were friendly. It was our first experience with a Fairmont hotel, we usually stay at Marriott or Kimpton hotels, I will try them in other cities after this. The exhale spa is such a nice perk. We loved our stay at the Fairmont Battery Wharf Boston. Enjoyed the sights and sounds (i.e. Odyssey dinner cruise, Freedom Trail, Blue Man group, Improv Assylum, Fiore's, Mike's Pastry Shop, etc.). I have to spend the night in Boston 2x a year for a layover. Checked out this hotel on tripadvisor thought it looked good. I love being in the North End. I was not impressed by the quality of the rooms. I was given one room, but then needed to switch. The bathrooms are not very private. The first room had pocket doors at the bathroom which did not close […] completely, the second had one big bathroom with no cubicles ( please do not have a toilet without walls around it). "Great location, fails as a Fairmont."
My wife and I went to the Fairmont Battery Wharf to celebrate New Years Eve. I picked this hotel for the location: North End, great restaurants, business district, and Back Bay shopping. I have stayed in 3 other Fairmont hotels and I wanted quality service and staff, and a luxurious room. Before going to Boston, I went to Maine to do work on my 77 year […] old mother's house for a week. I therefore brought my older pickup truck. When I arrived at the Fairmont, the valet repeatedly asked me to use a local parking garage instead of using the hotel's valet service. On my insistence, the valet finally agreed to do his job. The rooms were so poorly constructed that anytime a guest closed their door, the walls and our door shook. This occurred throughout the night. There is very poor sound insulation between rooms, so I had the pleasure of listening to all that entails, including the apparent chest cold of the woman next door. (I went for NY eve celebrations, so I was not looking for silence, returning to the room sometime after 2 a.m.) I brought the valet and noise issues to the attention of the front desk who replied, "Yes, we have gotten a lot of those complaints." I have stayed in cheap motels that left the light on for me which had better staff. I cannot recommend this Fairmont to anybody. The hotel also only has one dining option. Major disappointment. This hotel has pretty much all the perks that one could imagine EXCEPT they charge a hefty fee per day for wireless access in your hotel room. In a high end hotel in the perfect location on the harbor, why would this be so?
