Probably the most amazing place we have stayed in terms of view, closeness to hiking, beautiful private beaches, etc. The ecotents are actual tents, with bedroom areas, livingroom, fully equipped kitchen, and a beautiful porch/balcony. The tents are built up as if they are in the trees and are connected by wooden walkways. Always had a beautiful breeze […] and the constant gentle sound of the ocean. It was camping at its very best. Ok, this place was great, very disconnected from the rest of the world. They did have internet, but mainly by the office and the pool area. Views were amazing, it was awesome for us to get away and enjoy ourselves. You would never get this type of feeling at a resort or hotel. Imagine staying in a cabin out in the middle of nowhere with nothing but […] nature, ocean waves crashing, and world class views as far as the eye can see. Salt pond bay was like 10 minutes away, and sad to say was the best snorkeling on the island. Ok the negatives, our first meal was at their restaraunt, and I thought was overpriced, but after a few days on the island I realized its just as good as any. Be ready to open your wallet here on the island, we bought some sandwich stuff at the local grocery store and spent $55. A pizza at Donkey diner we waited for 2 hours for and it was like $30. Sunday brunch at Lucy's is a must, Skinny legs burger night was amazing, and the tourist trap is the greatest place on the island for food and the best drink drink right drive left... Back to the room, very grimy feeling...imagine wood sitting in humid wet, expecially around the bathroom and shower, just made me feel a little dirty all week. There are cracks so random creatures get inside, you keep your food in sealed containers to keep ants and rats out. If you are picky, bring your cleaners and wipe and clean everything down, and don't expect a hotel atmosphere, think of it more like a camping experience. Read more

If there was 0 star, I would definitely chose it. I stayed here for one night. When I came in the tents, I found the electricity was almost used out. (Each tent has batteries to store the electricity from the sun by the solar cell.) The light is extremely dark and there is no warm water. I don't know why this tents are highly scored in Expedia. sustainable squadrons of mosquitos make sleep nearly impossible. Too spartan for sustainable sleep or comfort. Sustained flapping of the vinyl roof and siding from the wind sounds like angry birds (and wakes you once you're lucky enough to get to sleep). No electrical outlets. Wafting odors of sustainable waste from the septic holding tanks....no automatic […] tensioned door closers (you must hook the bathroom and room door every time you go in and out; but, wth there was an inch gap around half the door plus the mosquitos come up thru the floor because no screening was put under the deck boards). Your money is much better spent on other accomodations. The paths thru the adjoining National Park have now completely overgrown making the hummingbird paths useless and the surf beach inaccesible. We had an excellent view from our ecotent in the "e" section. There was more than adequate room for the three adults in our party. My son slept in the loft, which might have been a little more comfortable with more air circulation. It seemed as if there had been a screen that could open, but had been stapled shut for some reason. When we arrived the […] room was clean and welcoming. We did have some problem with sugar ants, despite my best efforts to keep it spotless, but I guess a few critters come with a tent situation. We loved having our own dinners on our porch. The fridge was our only 'bug-proof' area, but a large tub was provided for food that the ants conquered anyway after a couple of days. My advice is to shop small and frequently, moisture is also a problem anywhere near the water. The hotel restaurant seemed expensive at first, until we looked at others in the area - everything is expensive in the islands. Anything we needed was provided immediately and with a smile. Our only real complaint was being unable to get used to the canvas roof flapping all night from the breeze making for some sleepless nights. Read more

Concordia is an eco resort with fantastic views of salt pond bay on the south side of St. John. I've stayed there multiple times now and just keep coming back! The staff is pleasant and knowledgeable for the most part, but this is by no means a place for those who like to be pampered. The location is somewhat remote from the main beaches on St. John […] and could definitely be a problem if you don't rent a car. The buses are unreliable at best. However, the weather is usually better on the south end. The north side (where the main beaches are) is more tropical with daily rain showers. The south side is more arid and is usually hot and dry most days. Many days we found it would be pouring on the north side and just a few miles down the road it was sunny on the south side! That's the trade winds for you. You should probably research and know what you're getting into with an eco resort. Showering with a garden hose and compost toilets aren't everyone's deal-I get it. But, once you experience how unspoiled and beautiful St. John is, you'll be happy you're doing your part to preserve it. Read more

We took a long-planned family trip to St John with 2 parents, 5 young adult children, 1 son-in-law and 1 soon-to-be daughter-in-law. The 2 young couples stayed in 1 tent, the parents and 3 younger siblings stayed in a second tent. What a wonderful week! Concordia is on the east end of St John. We rented a car, plus sent 3 of us in a taxi, to get there. […] It's not convenient, but that's part of the delight. It's at the end of the island! Helpful staff, good access to Salt Pond Bay/beach, fine hiking trails, and more-than-adequate facilities. We stayed in P-12: WONDERFUL breezy location. Spectacular views of water on both sides of the island. This isn't camping, but neither is it the Wyndham or Motel 6. We didn't have a table inside, and it was a tight fit to have all 9 of us together inside for a meal we prepared, but it all worked out. We did have amazing night beauty, stars overhead, easy access between tents on the boardwalk. Showering with sun-heated water, cooking on 2 propane burners, storing food in a plastic bin, hanging clothes on the line on the porch all helped us appreciate our capacity to live lower on the energy spectrum than we do at home. We had great journies to Greater and Lesser Lamashur Bays, to Waterlemon Cay and beach, and into Cruz Bay. We drove to East End and shopped at Sloop Jones. And each night we returned to our tents and slept with the sound of the surf filling our ears all night long. We would go back, and would request P-12 again! Read more

The Concordia Eco tents are just what they say they are. It is like a cozy cabin with canvas walls. We had a well positioned tent to catch the ocean breezes. Without the breeze it would have been too hot, I think. It was nice having our own private bathroom, such as it was. Composting, not stinky toilet and hand held shower that is solar heated. The […] only day that we had rain was the one day that the bugs were apparent. Bring bug spray! The small but functional kitchen worked great for breakfast and a few other meals. We ate out mostly. We even grilled a dinner. one night at the nearby Lameshure Bay picnic area. We were the only ones there that afternoon! You definitely need to rent a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The roads are steep and twisty! This was the off season, so the Concordia cafe wasn't open.:-( It would have made it a little easier if it were open. I wish we had known that. Still, the office had coffee and some bagels for sale each morning, so that helped! I did not want to deal with brewing percolated coffee each am. The. staff were friendly and helpful, especially Patty. She gave great hiking, snorkeling and dining advice. Try the Tourist Trap cafe, right at the entrance to Concordia. Many of the restaurants had great deals at lunch. When you go, think camping but comfortable! Read more

Before booking the eco-tent I read many reviews and had a pretty good idea of what to expect. These tents are pretty bare minimum. It's almost like fancy camping. Potable water is not available in the tent wasn't expecting that but no biggie as it was nearby. The view was absolutely breath taking! We absolutely loved the Concordia Eco-Tents! Everything about the place was really great. It was secluded, had breathtaking views and was close to beaches, local shops and a market. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially with advice on the places to eat and visit while we were in the Virgin Islands. Each "tent" had it's own kitchen, shower, […] and self-composting toilet so you could still live simply but have some of the luxuries of staying at a hotel or villa. I was worried beforehand about the heat since there was no air conditioning, but there was a constant breeze from the ocean so the temperature was always perfect in our unit. Concordia, Both the Studios (they are not tents ) and the Eco tents were more then we expected, peaceful ,with views that would take your breath away. If you are looking for someplace to get away to unwind , this is the place for you. Not a place for nightlife and bars more like a retreat. Their restaurant is a cut above anything in Coral Bay.

For the most part, our stay in a premium eco-tent was as expected. We were in tent P10 - the highest one closest to the beach and the view was fantastic! Few hotels anywhere would have such a view. The unit itself was pretty impressive - sturdy canvas over a wood frame. We were there during some pretty rough weather, though, and it was very loud inside […] during the rain and the tent moving in the wind was very noticable. As expected, but beware if you come during a potentially rainy time of year. Our biggest complaint was probably the shower -- it was a garden hose (literally) with a spray head and had no way of attaching it to the shower wall above your head. Made for a pretty awkward shower, combined with the fact that it wasn't sunny enough to actually solar heat the water. But, during typically Caribbean weather that shouldn't be a problem. All in all it was a lot of fun and the hotel grounds are really cool. There are some good hiking trails nearby - definitely worth making the mile trek out to Ram's Head. Read more

We arrived a little early, but room was ready for us to check in. We dropped off the luggage and headed to the store to stock up on some groceries. The store was reasonably priced and fairly well stocked. It was really nice to have a fridge in the tent. Loved the tent overall, and the 91 steps to the car made for a good work out every day. The views […] from the tent are amazing, with great views of sunrise over the BVI's and overlooking drunk bay and salt pond bay. Games were available as were books to borrow from the regestration building. A note should be made the that the restaurant was not open in October and does not open until November.
