"Family Trip - Fishing & Fun"
Bob and Dot were fabulous hosts at the lodge! We stayed in the Riverview House and will most definitely be back. All of the little details were amazing and made these 3 days of our 10 day Alaska adventure the best. I can't wait for the next time. House was clean and well-stocked and the hosts were great. "Quiet and Restful"
This lodge is gorgeous! You can't beat the views from the lodge-the river behind and the mountains. The owner is delightful and we had a wonderful night. The make your own breakfast was a change from standard bed and breakfasts but nice to do on our own schedule. The fridge was well stocked with anything we could want. Highly recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Absolutely the most relaxing place I've ever stayed. My family and I were treated like we were family as well. I would recommend this place to everyone I know.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was great. The view was super and the location was off the highway yet close enough to get back on the road again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ultra modern, artful rooms in pristine wilderness"
Gallery Lodge is a hidden gem. The rooms are an interior designers dream, the amenities are ultra modern and the setting is pristine off Kasilof river. The host, an artist, is amazingly friendly and generous. She even took our son to fish on Kasilof! For us, this is easily one of the best stays ever.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent service and a great place"
I told the owner that we would be arriving late but I had no idea how late. She told me she'd leave my room open. When I couldn't find the place due to bad directions, I called at 2:00 a.m. She gave me detailed directions and even met us at the door 15 minutes later. She showed us our room and left us alone. The room was super clean as was the rest […] of the place. The breakfast situation here is unique (to me, at least). You are welcome to cook anything you find in the kitchen. Beautiful scenery, too. I will go back and stay longer., Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We were very disappointed in this lodge. The room temperature was 76 degrees with no window or fan. There was no comfortable place to sit and read while watching the view. The full breakfast was "make your own" and consisted of unappetizing frozen items, packaged fruit cocktail, two individual juices (the guests upstairs took one), dry cereal, etc. […] some juice, yogurt, and eggs showed the next day. The "Pottery Room" had only one small piece of pottery. The owner was nice and the view was great. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"weird accommodations by a pretty river"
When we finally arrived (faulty directions), after calling twice that day to clarify what time we would arrive, the proprietor claimed she had never received our reservation. Luckily we had printed out the confirmation. She was very flustered and told us she didn't have a room, that the party that had reserved another room had arrived with 6 kids. She […] then took us upstairs to "the theater", a windowless and airless room, and told us she could put a mattress on the floor. We declined and told her she had to give us the room we had confirmed. She did reluctantly. The description did say "shared bath", but to get to it we had to walk across a large room with tables and chairs that could seat probably 40 people. I also had to go upstairs to use the bath, because when you are sharing a bath with 7 other people it is often in use. She seems to want to turn this into a mini-convention and wedding center, but I wouldn't trust that any reservation made could ever be relied on. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I would have to say in all my 40 years in Alaska, I have never stayed in a more beautiful place!Genuine Expedia guest review
I loved Gallery Lodge! It was clean, the hosts are so friendly, the cook-it-yourself/serve yourself breakfast option is fabulous! (They had a really well-stocked fridge! Everything we could have wanted and more!) The view is unbeatable and it's within a reasonable distance from Solddatna. Access to the city without being in the city.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A warm and inviting lodge right on the river"
Just a 1/4 mile off the highway but overlooking the wildreness. This small family-run B and B type lodge was warm and inviting from the moment I drove on the property. Every detail was well thought out with very nice furniture and furnishings, making anybody feel at home. Huge shared kitchen and a fantastic view across the river with an almost endless […] view.As a constant traveler for business, this was a nice retreat from the chain hotels and cookie cutter rooms with blah colored walls, floors and bedspreads. I was travelling alone, so I had a small single room with a shared bath and did not see the other parts of the lodge with larger spoaces, but No complaints about the accomodations at all.. "A must stop"
This place is just beautiful. A fabulous view of the river. Great fishing is just yards away. Dot is a great hostess and she'll make you feel at home.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Dot was so friendly. You felt like one of the family. The Lodge was brand new. Sitting out on the back porch , you had the best view ever. You were looking at a beautiful river with eagles flying around.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful view but all the blinds were closed!"
This B & B has a beautiful view overlooking the Kalisof River. The building has two bedrooms downstairs with a large beautiful kitchen and dining area (5 or 6 round tables sitting 6-8 people). The dining area has the view and but the bedroom didn't have any windows. One of the host is an artist with her studio upstairs. The bedroom had been repurposed […] from her pottery studio. The host missed an opportunity to show off their property wtih the closed window binds. They provide plenty of fixings for breakfast as other reviewers have listed. I missed having a light next to my bed and chair in the room. A small rug next to the bed would be a nice touch, although the tile floors have radiant heat. Bedrooms also have a coffeemaker and small fridge. Would have like a stand for my suitcase. The lack of windows make for a nice dark sleeping area welcomed in a place where it doesn't get dark during June/July. A great place for fishing late July. Host was informative. They also use the space for wedding receptions. They also have a cute house next door for rent which would be a deal for two-four people. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't miss this B&B"
Our stay was GREAT.. Dot is a wonderful hostess. The facility is quite simply the most beautiful Bed and Breakfast we have ever stayed in. We will most certainly revisit the Gallery Lodge on our next trip to the area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My daughter and I spent the night in Gallery Lodge and what a wonderful experience we had, we can't wait to go back!! The lodge is located overlooking the Kasilof River with an amazing view. Our room was clean and comfortable with a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee pot, satellite tv, and dvd player. We had access to the kitchen in the main lodge that […] was fully stocked. Although we stayed in one of the pottery rooms with a shared bath we still felt that we had privacy. Dot was a most gracious host and made us feel like family from the moment we pulled up. "'The owner was delightful, the breakfast was great"
The owner was very helpful, and delightful, the breakfast was great. Fun atmosphere but $25 for each extra person, and a 3 lb. puppy. That was a little much. We had no money left to buy any of the local extras in the shop. The room was beautiful, and large. The shower was an extra large head, and warm.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had full access to the large kitchen/conference size dining area .The kitchen was adequately stocked with food to cook your own breakfast, have a snack etc.Our room included a microwave and refrigerator as well. There were no other occupants at the lodge so access to the shared bathroom was not a concern as we had anticipated it might have been. The […] view from the back of the lodge is a breath taking awesome view of the Kasilof River. And for those who have never been to Alaska, the river is actually a turquoise color as a result of the glacier that feeds it. Wow was that beautiful. Saw a female moose and her calf who remained on the property for picture taking and behavioral observation- for nearly an hour! Give this property and it's owner 5 stars. Die Lodge liegt etwas abgelegen, aber gut erreichbar über dem Fluss. Die Besitzer sind sehr herzlich und völlig unkompliziert. Es ist alles sehr sauber und liebevoll eingerichtet. "Outstanding accommodations and hospitality near Soldotna"
09/03/14 Fishytourist Houston, Texas
Beautiful, spacious and well-furnished rooms, with a big deck overlooking the Kasilof River. Located peacefully outside of Soldotna, the lodge offers washer/dryer and a kitchen with a stocked refrigerator. Grills we're also available. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the desk during the afternoon, watching the river and an occasional bald eagle soaring overhead. We also enjoyed the company of Dot's two beautiful dogs, who kept us company after each day's activities.
"Beautiful and Relaxing"

The Gallery Lodge is very relaxing and has some of the most beautiful views we have ever seen. The "Riverview and the Lodge" is very up to date and kept very clean. Our host was very accommodating and friendly. We had a wildlife experience with a beautiful moose grazing not far from of us. Beautiful Eagles. We walked down a small slope to fish the Kasilof River. We will defiantly say here again. Very Peaceful.

I stayed in the river view home with my 4 children. It was pefect for the 5 of us. With full facilities available to us, it was just like being at home. Owners were very friendly and accommodating. Helping us organize fishing expeditions and local sites. What a wonderful experience. This is our second experience with this Lodge and will definately return.
"Very nice rooms, views and close to the best fishing I have ever experienced."
What a magical place! Wake up in the beautifull Riverview lodge with my family overlooking the Kasilof river with a hot cup of java. Rooms, full kitchen and views are top notch with a caring and friendly host. Great fishing down at the Kasilof and then 30 min to the Kenai. I am definitely coming here for my next Alaska experience.
"Bait and Switch?"

We booked with gallery Lodge back in the spring, knowing that as summer approached lodging around the Kenai / Kasilof Rivers would be booked solid. our reservation said we would be in the "Woodsy Cabin". Judging from the website, the place appeared top shelf. No picture or description of the woodsy cabin though. When we arrived the owners gave us a tour of their property overlooking the Kasilof river - very impressive. Now the switch - the owner told us the woodsy cabin was "about a mile away". I assumed it would be as nice as the main lodge, with a river view, etc. The owner said she had to call and ensure the cabin was ready, then she drove ahead of us to the cabin. We drove 2.3 miles back in to a flat, scrub pine tract on a horrible road past johnson lake. The "Woodsy Cabin" was a fisherman's or hunter's type cabin I am used to seeing in Maine or UP michigan for $60/night. It was about 16'X16' with a sleeping loft accessed by a steep ladder-like stairway with no handrail. The "kitchen" was a handbuilt pine board cupboard with a 12"X12" bar sink. We thought we booked a top B&B, based on the web site. We stayed our two nights because other accomodations were all booked, but I feel the owner was deceitful in not describing this cabin on the website or prior to us driving to it. Caveat Emptor!

The Gallery Lodge was fully booked, but they could offer us a 'rustic Alaskan experience' in the Woodsy cabins. The owners were friendly and the surroundings of the lodge very pretty. The cabin was a bit away from the lodge, however they said we could use the facilities of the lodge, including the breakfast. They offered us to sleep on air matresses in the lodge if we really disliked the Woodsy cabin, which was very friendly. The Woodsy cabin was very basic, but relatively clean. It was a bit cold during the night and it took a very long time before the water became warm. This is probably part of the rustic experience. However, the cabin was very over priced for what you got.

We were a group of 8 fisher guys from Florida who needed a place to sleep and unwind after full days of fishing for salmon and halibut. This place was perfect. Half our group stayed in the riverview house and the other stayed in the main lodge. We were up very early each day and could make our own coffee and breakfast (included) and be gone before most other guests were up. In the evening, we could relax and enjoy the great view of the Kasilof River while preparing dinner on very nice grills. Dot and Bob were great hosts, answering our numerous questions about the area and helping us vacuum pack and find freezer space for our catch. We'd definitely go back!

It was our first few days in Alaska...Bob and Dot May were first "Alaskans" to meet. Great place, very kind people. Lodge located right on the river. View from the "living" room was great. Small house next to the big one has own great view. Living room is decorated with beautiful art from Dot-she is an artist...Nice food and great location to explore Kenai-also a great stop on the way to Homer. Best wishes, great host family!
"Gallery Lodge Kasilof AK"

Our Family had a Wonderful Experience on our vacation in Alaska! The Gallery Lodge and Riverview are very clean, modern and welcoming. We loved our hosts, Dot and Bob May. Experienced a pot luck one evening with all the guests and shared a variety of fresh caught salmon and halibut, moose patties and peppered bear sticks. Very friendly atmosphere. Bob and Dot arranged our Halibut fishing reservations and the day was fantastic! The Kasilof river is located just yards away for fishing and the views were breathtaking. We are already planning another trip to go there!!

What a wonderful place to stay!! The property was amazing, riverview house was beautiful, clean and perfect for my family vacation. The owners, Bob and Dot are outstanding hosts who went "above and beyond," to ensure we had a wonderful time. The view and fishing the Kasilof river was the icing on the cake, ensuring that we will be back to stay.
