"Great place for mature folks to stay"
Hotel appears to be quite CLEAN, but in need of repair & updates due to it's AGE! Overall though it was OKAY for an overnight stay..Genuine Expedia guest review
Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Room was filthy. Sheets were dirty. Floor was stained. The person at the front desk barely spoke English. I tried to have a decent Helen visit. The hotel ruined it. I'll NEVER stay in another econolodge.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"quite good quailty for a low priced motel"
Only problem tv wand wasn't working but that is not a big deal. everything else was great and they have a very nice selection of food and drink for a contintal breakfast!Genuine Expedia guest review
The lady at the desk, Dawn, was cheerful, knowledgeable, and helpful. The hotel is a good value for the money. The room was clean and the AC/ heat worked. The outside of the building was clean and neat. The location was convenient for downtown Helen, GA.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Loved the front desk lady - Dawn!"
Not bad. Good from the price. Great location. Dawn was super friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good stay overall."
The air conditioning unit must have been broken or something. It would either freeze you out or it was too hot. There didn't seem to be much in between. This isn't the fault of the hotel but we had some neighbors that went in and out of their room many many times throughout the entire night and slammed the door every single time. The room was nice though […] other than the air conditioning. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not bad for what it is"
The hotel was clean. No problems with the room. The location was pretty good and close to town. Only issue was no hot water and a poor response to get it fixed. Cold showers are not a fun way to start the day.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Could not check in until 6 pm because cleaning staff walked out without telling management rooms were not finished. However, it was a busy weekend so maybe it was the exception.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Needs work but is ok for the cost"
I am not a hard person to please as far as hotels go. Give me a functional room with a clean bed and a shower that works, and we are good to go. So, with that disclaimer, let me say about this hotel that we stayed in Sept 14 -15: Pro's: It has a refrigerator and a microwave and it is "pet friendly" with lots of area close-by to walk your pet.. Cons: […] No hot water to shower with either day (they said they were working on it), carpets were worn and wallpaper was peeling off wall near the door. One of the locks on the door was broken. And, on the map, it appears that this hotel is in "downtown" Helen, but it is NOT. I measured it and it is 1.4 miles to the area of Helen downtown where all of the shops and restaurants are located. So, if you don't mind the walk, no problem. But if you think you are getting a hotel really close to where all the action is going on... you are not. Would I stay here again?.... No. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
no coffee maker in room , dirty , no enough hot water for taking a shower .Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was ok, but the hot water was out on the day we visited. It is kind of far from the little down town area if you want to walk to dinner, etc. It was a good value for the money.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great value 2 nights for what other hotels charge for 1. I have already recommended this hotel to a friend.Genuine Expedia guest review
Good for the money. No stopper in the bathtub was the only fault I could find.Genuine Expedia guest review
Room was dirty, hair was in between the sheets and stuck on bathroom walls, it was gross. Hotel staff was less that customer service oriented, could not speak English and did not communicate well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to our destination for saturday outing"
The Econo Lodge was clean but the building is old and could use some renovations.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"cheap for the money is an understatement"
we arrived at 12 noon hoping to check-in and were told check is was not until 4 pm. no problem, we left and walked around helen until 4.00 pm. we returned at four o'clock and and waited in line behind two other couples. one couple paid cash and received room keys. another couple received keys but were told there was a problem with there room and it […] would be just a little while. we were told that our room was not ready and that it would be an hour but we could go swimming if we cared to. we swam until right about 5 pm. guess what? room was ready. we were given our keys and proceeded to the room. when i opened the door, i saw that the room had not been cleaned at all. the manager came upstairs at that time and saw the problem. the ladies that were to clean the room were not to be found. then we were told that they had quit on their first day on the job. at this point, the manager found other people to start on the room. on young man left to get a toilet plunger and returned, left again, only to have a toilet snake tool. when they finally left we were told that the room was ready. the first thing i did was to check the toilet it still did not work properly, i had to remove the lid and flush by pulling up the stopper and holding it until it hopefully flushed, the fridge did not work at all. two t.v.s in room one did work, sheets were clean, water was hot and breakfast was not bad at all. the owners appeared not to have a clue what was going on around them. "Econolodge Helen Georgia"
The hotel was convenient and the staff was great. The hotel itself is old, and you could tell the staff cleaned but I was still scared of bedbugs and to use the linens.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"An Awesome stay!"
Awesome place to stay. Cheap but very comfortable. Staff was awesome. Had two small children with us, the kids called it our new home, they were so happy there. No complaints at all!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not Bad for the Money"
Non-smoking room, if it was in fact non-smoking, just became non-smoking the morning we got there. Clean, quiet and inexpensive.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Get what you pay for"
The hotel is a good value for the money, however keep in mind what you are paying. The location is great, next door to the Helen Tubing water park, however it is a little far from downtown, but walkable none the less. The toilet would run if you didn't shake the handle, there was a dirty towel on the back of the door when we arrived and the dust was […] a little concerning on some of the surfaces. I would expect things to be wiped down a little bit better. Still, not bad for the money. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
No coffee maker, no cups, door lock was broken. Looked like they didn't care about providing a nice room with all stated amenities.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"ok for the price"
The tub was missing and overflow cover and the toilette seat was loose. The beds were too hard. Very noisey at bed time due to people upstairs and bright. No newspaper in the morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not bad for the money"
The room was comfortable and clean. It did need to be updated. Peeling wall paper and water damage spots. It was a little far from town, but could be walked. Nice location to water park. For the price it was well worth it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"It Wasn't Cheap But Bad"
The refrig didn't work and the toilet leaked. The towels and wash cloths were old and had holes in them. The desk person was hard to understand and to get information from them. There were many signs of wear, the exhaust fan didn't work in the bathroom and the rooms had holes in the wall. There was not sufficient parking around the hotel for the number […] of rooms. The only good thing I could say was that the coffee and continental breakfast wasn't bad. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Older gem off the beaten path."
Off the beaten path. Older hotel. More flies than normal. Simple breakfast. Not so good coffee. Pretty good value.Genuine Expedia guest review
There were two little bugs in one of the beds. Continential breakfast was not good. Hooks and a shelf were falling off the wall.Genuine Expedia guest review

"close to water park"
I've stayed at this hotel twice. The room was clean but the knobs on the shower were backwards. The tv remote wa missing. The staff talked about the owner being cheap and would not replace things.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"green slimy pool"
The pool was the most digusting thing I had ever seen. There was some type of growth. Very bad impression upon arriving at the hotel. Rooms were fair but will not stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The quality of water was not good. It was often yellow colored and disgusting to shower or even brush your teeth.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fun at Helen"
Helen was a wonderful surprise. My regret is that I could not stay for at least a couple more days. It would also be nice if the shops would open for business before 10 in the morning. Helen is a great get-a-way for the entire family.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We enjoyed the over night stay, the hotel was clean. The staff was not so great. No one would stay at the desk because they were outside smoking most of the time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great place for the price."
We went to Helen to spend the weekend at a cabin for one night with some friends and decided to make a weekend out of it and stayed one night at the Econo Lodge because it was very reasonably priced. The room was clean, the service was friendly and prompt. The free breakfast consisted of toast, biscuits, and fruit. We opted for the Huddle House right […] down the road. Beds were comfortable, pillows were fluffy and clean. There is no elevator for the second floor, so if you can't handle a flight of stairs, make sure to request a ground floor room. Decent hotel for a no frills price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
From day 1, no hot water, day 2 no hot water, day 3 no hot water and toilet backed up, could not flush, I don't think I will be staying here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pets and smoke? read this..."
My search criteria was simple, pet friendly, smoking room, inexpensive. I booked a room with the econolodege and thought I was set. I WAS WRONG! The motel was both pet friendly and had smoking rooms available, BUT NOT TOGETHER! If I had kept my smoking room I would have had to pay an additional pet charge of 75$. That was almost double what I paid […] for the room. Needless to say I took the pet room and stood outside when i needed to. By the way, my pet is a 5 pound chihuahua. The staff was more than accommodating and went out of their way to ensure that we had everything that we needed. Very friendly and provided great service! The hotel is less than a mile from the town and is very conveniently located to everything in Helen. We had a pleasant experience at the Econo Lodge Helen and would recommend it to others!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cheap decent place to stay"
Pros: A cheap hotel that is close enough to the downtown area (about a mile or so). Fairly clean and had updated bathroom/vanity that was nice. Cons: Although I selected "pet friendly" on hotels.com apparently this place was only pet friendly with a fee that wasn't declared (Or at least I didn't see it). The attendant, first thing, asked me if I had […] any pets and after seeing the two signs stating "NO PETS ALLOWED" I was put on the spot and lied. Later in the conversation she eluded to the fact of a surcharge for "undeclared pets" so I assumed we could have paid to have them. That said she should have asked in a more polite tone and taken down the NO PETS ALLOWED signs and I would have gladly paid up front. (I didn't want to say yes and then be told I forfeited my room or something). She lacked tact in how she presented herself. Overall though it was a decent place to lay your head while you visit the amazing town of Helen, GA! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Didn't like it at all. I guess that is what you get when it's cheap. It took 15 mins for hot water to come on for the shower. Just a horrible place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Value for the $"
We stayed at the EconoLodge over New Year's. It was a great value compared to all the other hotels, which may have been a little closer to the alpine village, but we saved at least $20 and only had to walk a short distance further. Room was neat and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Great hotel for the $$$!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Econo in Helen"
We stayed here for New Years Eve. The "manager" was walking up and down the building in her bathrobe telling everyone to be quiet and stay in their rooms. IT WAS NEW YEARS EVE, are you kidding me?! Obviously mad because she had to work and was sober... Besides the prison guard after midnight, you can pretty much get away with anything. FYI- too far […] to walk to the bars in winter. "You get what you pay for"
We went to Helen on Thanksgiving day and chose this hotel due to the fact that they allowed pets and did not hike their rates up for the Thanksgiving weekend like some of the other hotels did. The hotel room itself was reasonably clean but there was writing on the walls and the door had peeling paint. Nothing that a coat of paint would not fix but apparently, […] hotel managment did not think it was necessary. You could tell that they tried to get the writing off the wall but they did not take the extra step. Bathroom was average. The walls, toilet and floor were fine but the shower curtain had mold and mildew on the lower half of the curtain. Not something you want to see when you are taking a shower. We only stayed one night. The hotel was sufficient for that but I would not book it for an extended stay, unless you are just in Helen to drink. Then...who cares about that stuff! "Econolodge, Helen, Ga"
The manager was very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean. The king size bed was just as comfortable as our own. The internet worked great. I was disappointed in the breakfast, but it was all right. I would definitely stay there again. The rates were good. The parking lot was clean as well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Econo Lodge Helen, Ga"
The door had been recently kicked in, the door jan was loose to the wall, there had been no attempt to repair. There were 2 TVs in the room , 1 did not work, no remotes. The overall appearance was that of a room that rented by the hour. It was however a room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place to Stay"
Convenient to town. Back street made avoiding traffic great. Straight shot to Festhaulle for Oktoberfest. Waterpark across the street for Summertime stay. Only Disappointment was website said all rooms have Coffemaker, but they no longer do that. Wouldn't prevent me from staying, but I would have taken one with me. Staff was very courteous.Genuine Expedia guest review
