"Nice funky hotel"
The hotel was very clean, the staff were all nice. It has a bar on the roof with amazing viewsGenuine Expedia guest review
Everything went like clockwork. The Rooftop Lounge was a lot of fun!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room fantastic ! Behind check in desk appeared cheap and sloppy Should have employee wait staff or maintenance staff elevator Elevator was being worked on fir a month so no key security to ride to floor Stayed on a Sunday night so not too much action Great location!Genuine Expedia guest review
This stay was fantastic. All staff were pleasant and helpful. This is truly an exceptional place to stay. We celebrated our anniversary and it was the kind of trip where everything went wrong...except for the hotel! It was just the 2 of us, but we wouldn't hesitate to bring our family on another trip.Genuine Expedia guest review
"2 doors down from the Pageant !"
Everything about this hotel was perfect.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was great except for the fact that we were put in a handicapped room. The shower was TERRIBLE; water ran all over the floor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Great Stay!"
The Moonrise Hotel is now in our top 5 hotels. Everything is extremely well done following the hotel's "moon" theme. The rooms are comfy and exceptionally clean. But the best of all is the staff, all of whom are personable and go out of their way to be helpful. A "must stay" if in St. Louis.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Lots of potential. Poor delivery."
Unfortunately, despite the many pros of this hotel, it seems to suffer from a severe identity crisis. It can't decide whether it is a nightclub or a hotel, and it desperately wants to be both. So desperately that it greatly sacrifices the comfort of the hotel guests in order to pull as many people as possible in to the rooftop bar. With rates soaring […] above $200/night plus tax for a Saturday night, you would hope that the guests at the hotel would be extended some courtesy and priority over those just visiting the bar. Sadly, the management appears to be too desperate to make an extra buck any way they can. While strolling the Loop, we purchased an ice cream float from Fit'z (a must if you are in the area), and brought it back to the hotel to watch the 4th of July fireworks from our hotel's rooftop. Just before the fireworks were to start, and just starting on our floats, an employee told us we were not allowed to have food or drink on the rooftop, as they sell their own there. So we had to throw out $12 worth of ice cream (which they do not sell there), despite being paying guests. A big annoyance to be sure, but we shrugged it off. Then came the realization that this bar is open to 3am and does not have an elevator separate from the one hotel guests rely on to get to their rooms. Add to that the fact that one of the two elevators was down for our entire stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Lessons in Customer Service"
They took 5hrs to check me in. Cleaning staff doesn't arrive until 10am on Sunday's. Overall they NEED lessons in Customer Service on how to accommodate clientele. Hotel has all the potential in the world.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Moonrise Hotel Our check-in time is at 3pm. The only way to guarantee an early arrival is to reserve a room for the previous night, especially if the guest is arriving prior to 10am. Anytime a guest arrives prior to the time our housekeeping staff starts and we were fully committed the night before the wait for a room will be long. If we have rooms available we are more than willing to accommodate early arriving guests, unfortunately most Sundays mornings we will not have rooms available until 11am at the earliest.
"Not worth the price."
We usually stay at the Chase, but thought we'd give the Moonrise a try this time since it had received so many glowing reviews. The furnishings are quite nice, as is the rooftop terrace, but we felt that the room was very small and found the bed to be very uncomfortable (especially the pillows) compared to other pricey hotels we've stayed at. We paid […] over $200 for a night at this hotel, yet didn't really feel safe walking around in the evening like we do in the Central West End. Good restaurants were not as numerous either. The staff were pleasant and welcoming, and the bartenders make a great mint-chocolate martini, but that won't be enough to warrant a return visit - not at that price, anyway. This is a great hotel! Unique decor, friendly staff and clean, modern rooms. A great exercise room. It's close in to Forest Park and the metro-area. We'd definitely stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review

""Great hotel for romantic weekend getaway!""
Great room, romantic, breakfast in bed was fantastic. The proximity to the Pageant was way better than I imagined talk about avoiding the after concert traffic, we were back at the hotel before I normally get out of parking lots.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Moonrise Hotel I am happy that you enjoyed your stay with here! It is great that the hotel is a closer walk to the Pageant than tha parking lot! Hopefully you will return as a guest the next time you enjoy a concert at the Pageant!
"perfect place to stay"
beautiful hotel with friendly staff. perfect location. I spent the weekend seeing bands at the pageant and this couldn't have been more perfect. Eclipse restaurant is delicious, Rooftop bar is fun and perfect for a summer night.Genuine Expedia guest review
Better than the generic options many big chains offer. Front desk and front door staff are always lovely. Walkable neighborhood close to convenient public transport (light rail). I've stayed there twice and it's a good option for St Louis.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Over the moon"
This was our second stay. We were just as happy as the first time. The staff is always super nice. The hotel is clean and quiet! We ate the Eclipse Restaurant and the food was delicious. Highly recommend!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very courteous staff. Well trained and helpful. Suite was nice and comfortable. Close to alot of good restaurants on Delmar Loop.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Good location and great service. Both bar restaurants were closed for privite events during one of the nights so I had to go out in a storm to find another place to eat. You should never book both of your restaurants at the same date and time! Other than that it was a good hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
On the first night there, I had to call the front desk in the middle of the night because of loud partying in the room next door and possibly in the hallway. They quieted down in the room, but switched to the driveway outside. I will request a room on the back side of the hotel next time. Other than that, everything was great. This was my second time […] in the hotel, and I will be back in the fall, or early winter. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel near Clayton, Wash. U., & Forest Park"
The staff is very friendly and helpful, from the valet to the front desk to the room service attendant. (You do NOT have to valet, there is generally parking available in the parking lot in the back.) The location is very convenient for people who have businesses in Clayton, visiting Wash. U., want to enjoy Forest Park, etc. The Delmar area (I guess […] just one main street) is full of shops, restaurants, and bars. (The gas station across the street on the corner of Skinker is a little bit sketchy though, it always has been.) The restaurant downstairs (Eclipse) is nice (only had drinks there so cannot review about the food). The bar at the rooftop is a good place to hang out, enjoy the view, and catch a game on TV. I would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Darling hotel. The dcor and staff was great"
Really liked this hotel. The location was great. I especially liked the "moon" theme which was prevalent throughout.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great location and totally hip"
The staff was super friendly, the hotel was very hip and modern and don't you dare miss the 8th floor rooftop bar with tremendous city views and excellent bartenders.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"convenient to Washington University"
I liked the hotel and that the room was clean but I had a difficult time falling asleep because of the thinness of the walls. I could hear people coming off the elevator and talking in the hallways and even people coughing and playing the radio in their rooms. I wish it had been more sound proof. Also, my sink in the bathroom was broken so that the […] wate billed up and I had to put my hand in the dirty water to remove the stopper. Staff were nice and helpful. Great little botique hotel on Delmar Loop, good food in walking distance, and great live music. Only thing is that there is no supermarket close by. Roof top bar at happy hour was funGenuine Expedia guest review
Stay was great. Next door to old time bowling which was fun. Only thing that was annoying was that they booked me a cab for the morning to the airport and turned out it wasn't booked. Good news is that it's only about 15 mins to airport. ($25).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very modern hotel right on The Loop. Very VERY close to so amazing restaurants and bars, a cute little bowling alley and a concert venue (the reason we stayed here). These things are all within walking distance. The hotel staff is very friendly and knowledgable about the area. The restaurant in the hotel, Eclipse, is AMAZING. High end food at a reasonable […] price, and they serve 24 hour room service that delivered quickly and made sure we had everything we might need for our meal. The only thing I did not like was that the bathroom door is a translucent sliding door that does not lock. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My boyfriend and I stayed here for our 5 year anniversary. They upgraded our room for free just for that! We were really impressed by the staff and over all look and quality of the hotel. I'd say my favorite place I've ever stayed hands down. Next time we need a little get away I'll absolutely look into staying here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
This is a really neat place to stay. If you don't like soft beds, not the place for you. We enjoyed the decor and the staff was very friendly. It snowed 14 inches when we were there and they offered to go scrape our windshield. We we not in valet parking. We were originally going to take our dog but decided against it and glad we did. Around the hotel […] there is very little space for them to potty. across the parking lot and the next street in the back is a big area but that's part of the college. The shower looks really cool in pictures but is a horrible design. If you are average size or bigger, you'll have issues getting in and out and moving around. It is quite noisy at night when people are coming in and we were not close to the elevator. We stayed on the 5th floor and had no problems with construction noise. It is a few minutes from downtown. We spend most of our time in downtown so if we go again, we will stay downtown. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"I'd recommend it"
Liked the Hotel. The rooftop bar was very nice on an spring night to watch the street traffic below, and see the view to the Arch the other direction. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff. Convienient location.Genuine Expedia guest review
Any hotel with a rainshower is top notch in my book! A great hotel in The Loop with great customer service, comfortable beds, a fabulous modern bathroom (with rainshower!) and great shower products (H2O!). Though a section of my room ceiling looked like something had tossed coffee and stained the walls, everything else was pleasant!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel for everyone"
There aren't many "boutique" hotel choices in St. Louis, but you only need one choice and that is the Moonrise. The staff were continually helpful from checkin to checkout (including helping to de-ice my windshield after 12 inches of snow in late march)! The room was fantastic!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hip, unique, refreshing hotel in great location"
The hotel was a modern boutique-style, with full services and very clean and comfortable. This was one of the nicer boutique-style hotels I've visited and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again alone or as a group. I didn't try the attached restaurant/bar as there was a number of dining options within walking distance.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was our first visit to St. Louis and Washington University. The hotel staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Great location. I would definitely recommend this hotel. And my teenagers loved the lunar theme throughout the hotel!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very Unique Fun Hotel"
The decor in this hotel is really cool! Retro with a modern feel. Very secure hotel- need a key to use the elevator. Exercise room is larger than most and was nicer than most although there were no free weights. Bed is comfy! Rooms are not large but well-designed and thought out. Love the moonish prints and decor all over. Nice location right on the […] loop and restaurants everywhere. Also, only a few blocks from Wash U. Very clean hotel with nice bathroom amenities too and fluffy towels! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Unique hotel for anyone wanting to stay in St Loui"
So nice to stay in a hotel decorated in such a unique way. Modern and vintage both with lots of interesting "moon" memorabilia ranging from antique rocket toys to great stuff from the actual moon landing. The rooftop bar and lounge was under construction when we were there but we could see it's going to be really nice when finished next month. The […] hotel was near several good restaurants and only a short drive from the Fox theater and Forest Park. The price was reasonable and we would definately stay there again. "Potential noise issue"
Love this place in every way except noise abatement. It was easy to hear people having a casual conversation in the hallway and I can see how with more people in adjacent rooms, noise could be a problem at night. We will likely return, however.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"moonrise great hotel"
hotel was great, but the moon-shtik is overdone.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Super cool hotel"

"Moonrise Hotel/ St. Louis, Mo"
I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The room was clean with the exception of a few concerns regarding the shower. There was some mold on the tile/grout in the shower. I also did not like rain shower in the hotel room. I think the hotel needs to install regular shower heads for people who may not want their hair getting wet in the shower.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Weekend with the grandson on St Pat's Day weekend"
Location is good to explore the Delmar Loop..we enjoyed the St Patrick's Day Parade in Dogtown and ate lunch on the Hill. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and attended to our needs from valet parking to dinner suggestions.. The room was comfortable and we arranged for adjoining rooms to be closer to my grandson. We didn't eat at the restaurant […] but opted to eat at the Thai place across the street. I would return to this area in the future to further explore this neighborhood. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Early AM construction ruined my sleep"
Hotel was undergoing construction on the roof starting early in the AM. No warning on the hotel web site or on Hotels.com. When we arrived at around 8:45 PM the front desk clerk warned us that the only rooms left were on the 7th floor. I asked what that meant; the clerk replied that construction was starting before 8AM and those rooms will be most affected. […] I made a face. He offered to upgrade us to a jacuzzi room for $40, instead of the usual $75. I said that was unacceptable, that I shouldn't have to pay to get a normal night sleep. He said OK and put us in a (non-jacuzzi) room on the 4th floor. (So there were in fact rooms available not on the 7th floor). Of course our room happened to be adjacent to the roof, regardless. Nothing like the sound of power drilling in the morning to ruin your day! To recap: Early morning construction without any sort of notice or warning, and an attempt to extort more revenue as a result. Never again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great Location in the Loop. Hotel is very unique, cool lobby, the rooms was great and the beds are very comfortable. We ate in the hotel restaurant and it was delicious. Free parking in the back. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Only complaint was construction in the rooftop area started at 7am. There was a notice in the room with the info […] and it is obviously a temporary situation. This didn't negatively effect my stay and I would absolutely stay here again.
