We loved: the staff allowing us to stay parked at the hotel after check out, the trolley service & the walking distance to the beach. Hotel is out of date. Room had ceiling falling in, hair in bed sheets, tub was filthy, dads leg went through floor of outer walkway. Workers could care less about condition or your stay. Stay away from this place!

I ignored the mostly terrible reviews, and it was worse than expected. It's not the maids fault, the owner should be ashamed. First, the room stunk. The decor and carpet is not like the 60's, it's FROM the 60's. Old and beat down. The curtains were missing half their support and we had to prop a suitcase against them to keep them fully closed. The shower […] tile is covered by fiberglass, but it was peeling away. Mold and cracks in all the corners. Anything that can rust is rusted. Pretend you are having a throwback frat boy weekend and enjoy the dump. On the plus side, the maids did their best and access to a fabulous beach is right across the street. We thought the staff were very friendly, and the hotel was well situated. Its an older motel that needs some updating. Our only complaint was that there were stains on the beds and pillows.For our purposes, it was a good choice. Would we visit again? Absolutely.

I tried the hotel because I was thinking about renting for the winter just moving to the Portland area, next month. Was a little disappointed by the fact that that if the coffee machine in the room is advertised, you expect to find coffee and cups too in the morning. None was there ! Got there @ 8:30pm. Office was closed!! My rm key was in the mailbox next to the door. On our way to our rm there was laundry and trash outside all the doors, like housekeeping forgot to come back pick it up. Our room was big, had a kitchen, but the room was falling apart. Drawers missing from the counter, doors falling off hinges, TV was broke, the […] ac was a in wallmount. Which was located right in from of a BED!! So the room was not cool. Bathroom was not very clean, molding was broken, sheetrock was cracked and paint was falling off the wall. They had a recliner in the room and the foot rest of the recliner was missing. The room was spacious and clean. I loved that it had a small kitchenette complete with utensils and cutlery. The bathroom was clean but in need of renovation. The tub kept clogging after every shower. But it was okay for the price we paid especially considering that everything in old orchard beach in August is like $100-$150.

Althought the room was not clean , the staff didn't speak English and we couldn't get a coat hanger to save our lives, we enjoyed our stay. I get the whole'wicked beach house' and 'shabby chic'. This place was neither, but was very close to where we wanted to be. I was disapponted in housekeeping. We left a note and a tip on the 1st mornign early. When […] we returned nothing had been done..after many hours , when the staff was to have finished clening they wanted to clean the room, interrupting our day. We had to point out the food on the stove and floor..explain to the non-Engkish speaking person that it wasn't "old" it was dirty..The next day noone showed up at all. The third day , 4 people came to clean but noone touched the bathroom sink , or toilet...we had to chase them down and ask specifiaclly to clean, We tipped each time someone came, but why I'm not sure. The place was VERY smelly and not what I expected for the amount of money I paid for this room. The comforter looked like it hadn't been washed in weeks. The carpets were stained in multiple spots. When you flushed the toilet it took 5 flushes before the toilet paper would go down. VERY UNSATISIFIED!!!!!! Would NOT recommend this to anyone.

My brother and I had a great stay at the Grand Beach Inn. Although a older hotel the rooms were clean, comfortable and nicely situated across the road, not very busy, for the beach. Perhaps about a 200 yard walk. The beach in this area was spacious compared to the pier area which was wall to wall people.
