Except for a previous customer's dirty socks (reason for the "1") that were left under the pull out sofa, the rooms were clean and as expected. Given that it was Fasnacht, the hotel offered a reasonable room at a reasonable cost and I was able to book only two nights instead of 3 or 4 as required at other Basel hotels. The hotel was convenient for driving with parking below and was close to tram and bus stops. The staff was not very helpful. My guess is that they were transplants from other regions and weren't informed about the city. In an effort to answer questions, they did nothing more than to read the copied printouts of information provided by the hotel.

This Novotel had a touch of class with the nice light wood in rooms and the dining area, etc. This is one of the best, if not best Novotel's I've stayed in within Europe. Rooms were large especially for European standards. Friendly and professional staff too.

This hotel is in a good location (easy access from Tram #15 or 16) and close to SBB. Only having front desk from 8am-5pm was weird but actually worked fine. When I had problem with WiFi access they went out of their way to solve the problem, including calling me during the day to give me a status update. Room and bathroom were good size. TV sucked but that wasn't so important.

Das Hotel ist hübsch, wirkt prunkartig, hat aber wohl seine besten Jahre gehabt. Es ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen und vergilbt langsam ein bisschen. Die Zimmer waren jedoch ziemlich gross (Schrankraum, Bad mit sep. WC) und sauber. Das Personal war ein wenig humorlos und wenig warmherzig. Aber freundlich. "schönes Wochenende"
Das Hotel hat schon einige Jahre hinter sich. Die Zimmer/Badezimmer im Flügel sind gross und gut isoliert, wir haben keine anderen Hotelbewohner oder Strassenlärm gehört. Das Hotel ist sehr schön gelegen, die Betten und Matratzen sind super und der sonstige Zustand der Zimmer sind OK..Für Wireless solch horrende Preise zu verlangen ist total inakzeptabel und erinnert an die 90er Jahre.
