I still can't understand how people rated this hotel as "Great" or that they would return. I read positive and negative reviews and thought there were equal amounts of remarks. You should listen and heed the negative remarks-we didn't. The window was wide open when we arrived to air out the smell in the room. Turning on the air conditioner circulated […] the bad smell. There were two locks on the door, only one worked, the other was broken. There was long dark hair and lipstick on the toilet seat and long hair on the bathroom floor. This is an amazing property near a major traffic artery in NY state. We booked a one-night stay and were pleased to find it near the reception as I m handicapped. The 2 dbl-bed room is spacious and functional, without any charm, the bathroom is somewhat small but clean. and water temp was ok. With winter temps I'd recommend bringing your own blankets […] and pillows. Mattresses were so so. Lighting could be impoved and there is a lack of electric outlets, or they are hidden behind the beds. The Internet support in the rooms was weak, but there was an alternate access near the reception.. All in all we got what we paid for in a friendly environment. We have stayed at this hotel many times. There have been some upgrades to the rooms and outside. The beds are not that comfortable. The rooms were clean but could have been cleaner. Spider and webs in the corners, dust on top of the TV cabinet and the headboards. The bathtub and shower walls could have used a once over. There was still hair on the floor […] from the previous guests. We stayed multiple nights and noticed that after the first and second nights, the sink in the bathroom was not cleaned. I selected this hotel for its location, and it is right off the highway. However, there was trash in the room from the previous guests. The frige did not work properly, couldn't get the door to stay closed. There were dead light bulbs in some of the lights. The sheets appeared to be clean but they had several holes in them. I am not one for staying […] at expensive hotels, but I do expect clean and working....this hotel was neither of those! I was also annoyed that the "free" wi-fi did not work and the tv only worked on a part-time basis. The bed was extremely uncomfortable---much like sleeping on a slab of concrete. Considering the rates other hotels were charging in the area, I was expecting roaches and cardboard beds. I want to go back for a weekend during the summer to enjoy the pool area. The buildings horseshoe around the pool and it has a picket fence and trees. Seems like it will be private and relaxing. There is a steak house restaurant on the adjacent property, just a walk next door.

Our stay was, in a word, uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. If any acquaintance was coming to this area, I would actively warn them against it. Even if this hotel makes money, I would recommend that the company close it or drastically renovate it. It gives Rodeway Inns a bad name. Now for the rest of the story... It started by […] noticing that the window to our first-floor room was open when we first entered the room. The room bordered on a very dark, wooded area. Although unlikely, it would provide easy access to anyone who wanted to enter the room. After struggling for five minutes, I was unable to lock the window. The situation made my wife and me uncomfortable. We called the front desk. The desk clerk was also unable to lock the window. He then moved us to an upstairs room. The upstairs room was large, which is the only positive thing I can say about it. The windows didn't lock in that room either, but it was upstairs, at least. The walls were obviously water-damaged. The lamp shades appeared to be quite old and dirty. Both sheets on the bed were flat sheets, meaning that they slipped off a rather dirty mattress in the middle of the night (no mattress cover). The bedspread looked like it was from the 1950s and smelled like it as well. The beds were uncomfortable and set up in such a way that you couldn't get closer than 6 inches from the edge without feeling like you were going to fall off of them. The heater (on auto) allowed the room temperature to vary between sauna and refrigerator, a severe swing that made sleeping quite difficult. I would say that the worst item would be the water. It is very hard water that appears cloudy in a glass. It has an unpleasant smell and, as is usual with hard water, makes it very difficult to feel clean when showering.
