Lovely place. Will try to book again. we had guests for breakfast and paid a very reasonable price and let them know and they were wonderful. we had to eat at 5:30 am on check out day and we told them we wouldnt be there for breakfast and they insisted on leaving us milk in our refrig so we could at least have cereal and coffee before we left. Very thoughtful and accomodating. the bed was comfortable.

The Punchbowl is secluded but in a perfect location to explore the many area attractions. The couple running the operation could not have been more friendly and helpful. Rooms are recently decorated and very clean. The big breakfasts served kept us going all day.

This guesthouse was very charming, and the hostess was most gracious, making every effort to make guests feel at home. Tea and snacks were offered at all times, and the neighborhood was lovely. The visit was refreshing - quite a contrast to an impersonal hotel!

This hotel was a bargain, just a bit out of the way. There is a bus that goes from downtown Durham directly to the hotel for a very reasonable rate. The bus station is two blocks from the train station. The room was small but comfortable and clean. The breakfast was tasty and generous. The pub serves great local ale. Be warned, there is no one there from about 10 in the morning until 2 p.m. check-in time in the afternoon, so make arrangements ahead of time for check-in.

"Brunswick House - Middleton in Teesdale"
The hotel is in a pleasant village called Middleton in Teesdale and the house itself is about 250 years old so the rooms tend to be on the small side. The room we had was en-suite and the shower and other fittings were quite new and very smart. We had a meal in the hotel on the first evening and the food was excellent in quality and preparation.
