"Pleasant Setting and Charming Family"Reviewed by Norman T of "Dallas, TX" on Apr 17, 2012
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay which was in an idylic country town which afforded great access to local sites such as Bath. Family was an absolute charm with homey rooms with comfortable beds and a delicious breakfast.... Would definitely stay there again....

The Macdonald Bath Spa is lovely, the staff is helpful and attentive. We were automatically upgraded to a suite which was a wonderful surprise. No complaints. Would definitely stay there again.

"Beautiful place!"Reviewed by Nancy El of "London" on Mar 28, 2012
We stayed one night at this B&B on our way to Bath. It's very convenient if you have a car; parking is free and it's an easy and quick trip into the city. The place itself is absolutely wonderful. The pub serves excellent food with excellent atmosphere; the room was decorated beautifully with a very comfortable bed; and the bath was to die for! Bath was HUGE and had a fantastic deep soaking tub (with room for 2!) and huge walk-in shower. The decor of room and bath is very modern and sleek but still comfortable, and the room still has plenty of old character features. I would highly recommend this B&B for anyone staying in the area. In addition, the staff and owner are very pleasant as well.

The Blathwayt has dining throughout, be it in the 50 seater consevatory, by our 2 real open log fire places or outside on our heated al-fresco patio area ( with wonderful views , including Bath racecourse). Each giving it's own unique dining experience, something for eveyone.

stayed for 2 nights, food was excellent, served by charming girls, but main concern was the cold, the whole hotel could have been much warmer.
"1 night stay"
the hotel is easy to find on the road to the horse race court. People are very friendly and welcoming. We arrived around 6pm and the lady showed us our room, explained the breakfast menu on the way and how to use the keys in case we needed to go out for the evening and be back later. The room was comfortable with a bed, a sofa and a clean ensuite bathroom. […] Warm English style. very pleased by our stay. We really expected a bad quality of service reading the various reviews, but we can really find nothing bad to our experience in this charming hotel. Read more

Nice large room, very good breakfast, personable staff. Ate at their bar/restaurant and had an excellent meal. Internet only worked in central area upstairs. Internet seemed to be shut off at 10pm.

"Good value for money"
It is situated slightly off from the town - about 10-15 minutes drive. Very calm and quite place. Staff were really friendly. Room, though small, was neat and tidy. Bathroom was clean and newly refurbished. We had mussels and scallops for dinner - and it was very good. However, morning breakfast slightly a disappointment. I was told that for a 'full […] breakfast' I have to pay £5 per head extra - only the 'continental breakfast' is included in the original price. I decided to go with the continental option and the choice was not that great. I wished I had opted for 'full breakfast' but by then it was late. Good if they can advertise it as it is, rather than leaving it in the small print. Overall, a very pleasant experience - except for the glitch mentioned above. I would recommend it for anyone. I think the staff can be more friendly, the greeting was not very warm & welcoming .The continental breakfast could be improved, the toasts were too cooked(dry-almost burned, the coffee was not hot enough, there wasn't a selection of fruit. The only pastry that they offer was croassant. You only have one hour to take the breakfast, This could be expanded […] to give more flexibility to the customer. But overall the hotel is reasonable for what you pay for their rooms, so is not too bad. "Blathwayt Hotel - Bath"
Don't stay here. It is a nice enough little place - in a pretty spot just by Bath Racecourse. But it really is 1970's. The entrance to the up stairs area (where be bedrooms are set) is by the gents toilets. Ugh. The staff go home when the pub closes (typically 11 oclock in the UK) and then there is no way to get into the building if you have not […] taken a key with you. You can imagine how much fun that is ... Rooms are ordinary with super soft beds. Overall a pity. It is a nice site - and could be much more. I've no clue how it gets 4 stars from some survey or other. Stay in town, Bath is lovely. Read more
