Spent the weekend of 1 - 2 June 2013 with my partner. She said that the Pie she ate at evening meal was by far the best she had ever tasted. Compliments to the Chef. Room was very clean and a very comfortable bed indeed. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We will be returning. A complete relaxing time.

The Fox Inn is in an isolated settlement in the hills near Blandford. The Fox is well used as a pub but I didn't notice any unreasonable amount of Boise as a result. Room was clean and facilities well maintained. Breakfast a real highlight with good.service and choice.

I booked this hotel/pub, as a stopover. It was the best decision i made. !! In the middle of nowhere, but great nonetheless. We arrived on Mothers Day evening, so the carvery had been extended, along with a la carte options. The whole place was jumping, then as the evening progressed, mellowed. This was our second stay in the Fox Inn for a weekend away with my husband. This is a lovely place to stay as it's tucked away in a nice quiet area, but is within easy reach of lots of places to explore. The staff are really friendly and the food in the restaurant is great. I'm sure we will return one day in the future.

I booked this hotel following some good reviews. I had hoped to make use of being in the middle of nowhere and go for some walks, but it rained and rained. So instead we visited Shaftsbury, Yeovil and Clarks village. Now this hotel really is off the beaten track, so if the weather is bad, you will have a 30 minute drive to reach civilisation. This is […] not a criticism. Nether is the fact that you will not have a phone signal. Wifi would have been nice at the hotel, but I booked the hotel to be away from it all, so not a problem for us. We arrived on a cold wet Friday evening using the hotel postcode in the sat nav, which took us straight to the Hotel. Met in reception by a young member of staff, who like all the staff was very friendly and professional. Now the one slight negative was that upon entering our room (14) the heating was off and it was cold. Turning the radiator on did warm it up though.The decor of the room and hotel is dated, but not in a dirty way, and it kind of adds to the charm. The hotel and our room was very clean and we found the bed and linin to be comfortable. We had a meal in the hotel on the first evening, with a table booked for us, and the food was very good. Cost for our three course meal and a pint each was £50. Breakfast was again really good, with attentive staff. To note that on checking out I had to show the Hotels.com booking reference as the hotel had not received conformation of payment. We would definitely stay at The Fox again. Read more

What can you say about this place. Apart from its got to be the first place that i have had to were a coat to keep warm while having dinner. Yes the haeting was on and there was no snow about. I would not stay here again. be warned !!!!!

Rural location. Friendly staff. Very good pub grub. Stayed in a standard room which was clean and comfortable but sound insulation poor and banged head a few times on the low angle of ceiling which drops towards dorma window. Bathroom in need of an update.

Pleased reception and guidance to our room. We had dinner in the restaurant, staff was friendly but could improve on attention to quests. The bar is visited by the local community which provided a lively atmosphere. A good presented full english breakfast by friendly and available staff.

As per the title, this establishment is a few miles from the main road on narrow roads, so not a nice journey. No mobile reception on the three network although wi-fi is available. The pub and restaurant are nice although a bit dated and pricey for the limited menu available. Very quaint, lovely room, evening meal was delicious but breakfast bit of a let down nothing to write home about staff to busy in kitchen doing what I don't know had to ask for toast left it about 5 mins after breakfast was served finally received toast but had eaten most my breakfast !!!! A very welcoming, well appointed and friendly hotel in the quiet of the Dorset countryside. Good food and beer and (with a car) a good starting point for the Cerne Abbas Giant and the coast path. Highly recommended.

The Fox Inn was ideal for our overnight stay. Absolutely fantastic rural location down the dorset lanes, the view at nearby Bulbarrow Hill was a good spot to take in the next morning. Received a warm welcome when we arrived for our one night stay. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Hotel has a nice bar, which we had a quick drink before being seated in the restaurant. If you are not familiar with the area you need sat/nav to find The Fox. The hotel reception area is bleak. The evening dining area is large but the decoration is rather miserable. The staff are very helpful and pleasant and the garden and surrounding area attractive. My wife was at one stage trapped in our room due to a faulty lock or handle.
