The Reading Rooms - B&B - Hexham

The staff members were very accommodating to my problematic arrival, helping me by staying late to begin with, communicating through e-mail when my phone stopped functioning as a phone, helping me when my gps acted up. From a B&B I would have expected such help - I would not expect someone to stay until 1AM, and another staffer to remain up making sure […] via e-mail we got there safely. I am impressed. The room I had was clean, with a massive bathroom. Both the bedroom and private bath were probably the largest I had in Europe. The beds were large and very comfortable. Over all it had a very nice personal touch. Breakfast in the morning was good and again the staff provided great information about the surrounding areas. Myself and my partner stayed at this B&B in Dec 2012 and were very disappointed as the room was freezing, there was no heating or hot water, this was such a shame as the place was very well located in haydon bridge and the room was very spacious. Bed was very comfortable and warm under the duvet, sub zero temperatures above!I would have definately rated […] it higher but couldn't enjoy the stay as It was so cold. The staff member in the morning did apologise for the lack of heating as they hadn't switched it on but due to the lack of sleep I didn't even get to rate the breakfast. Clean, comfortable with a great view of the bridge from the upstairs twin room. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was tasty and plentiful. Secure storage for bicycles was a welcome extra.

Excellent friendly family service with very useful local information. Easy to find and centrally located for our stay. Freshly cooked generous breakfast. Definitely recommend and would stay again.

2 night stay. Breakfast was nothing special, exterior of hotel in need of decoration. Room was good but shower tray was blocked which meant that shower head had to be turned on and off to have a shower otherwise you would be standing in dirty water, was reported but nothing done. Staff very helpfull but not at the hotel so only present during breakfast. Location […] very nice overlooking the Tyne and handy for the railway station. A full rate of 5 for each section may seem over the top. However this B&B can not be faulted in any way. It is a brand new conversion and so clean there are no stains on the carpet and the bathroom was immaculate. We did not see the owner of the property any of the 3 days of our stay so it was just as private and comfortable as being at home.
