The hotel itself is satisfactory—nothing special about the rooms or the food, but the staff is the nicest and most helpful that I've ever experienced at a hotel. They helped us by storing our luggage for a day, calling us a cab that could get us into city centre with six roller bags, and accepted the shipment of a bike box for me. Fantastic service all around!

The Holiday Inn Newcastle was very comfortable during our one night stay. The location was easy to find, and although on the outskirts of town, it was an easy trip into the center of Newcastle. The staff were very friendly. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

The White Swan is very conveniently located steps from Alnwick Castle. The parking is not free but only costs 2 pounds/day. The staff is very helpful and acted promptly to all inquiries. There is no elevator but the staff was very good about carrying our bags to the room.

The name belies how far out of Alnwick it is, you need a car. We had a quirky nice big room but had the premium some rooms looked small fine for a stop off on travels . The girl we saw regularly was lovely and very helpfulGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not dog friendly"
After a long drive we arrived to be greeted with a long lecture about the problems of dogs in hotels . Clearly the dogs were not welcome although the hotel owner would accept them with an additional payment per dog per night. Another problem was that there was no restaurant on site . The photos on the web site certainly flattered the building but did […] not show you the scrap yard that was situated at the rear . "lovely old building fantastically restored"
We used the hotel to be near Alnwick but didn't want to be in the town centre. Hotel was on edge of A1 but no traffic noise was heard. The hotel is very quirky and really enjoyed our second morning when we had breakfast in the converted stables around large tables and could chat to other visitors. "Quirky Little Place"
The Alnwick Lodge is a quirky little place filled with antiques and little vinyettes of interest. You enter a courtyard surrounded by glass panel doors. Our room was on the end, first floor with a curved glass wall. The room was a bit small but the bath was lovely. There is a curtain along the glass wall but it does little to keep out the night hall […] light which does not go out until after midnight. The breakfast is in the old horse stables and you share a large round table with up to 10 guests. It's very nice. The breakfast offers cereals, fresh fruits, yogurt and cooked breakfast. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is more upgrades the owners want to make to the place and I feel once they have finished all the upgrades, this will be a very nice place to stay. "Unusual surroundings"
Alnwick lodge is very easy to get to being right on the A1. It's quiet despite this and we had a good night's sleep. Many items in the B&B are for sale as antiques so you might find a price label on anything you're using and you can take it home with you if you like. The web site was misleading. This hotel is directly off the A1. "Alnwick Lodge"
The beds were very uncomfortable, we were under the impression there was a bar and restaurant open and yet there was not. We had to go elsewhere for our meals and the cost of a taxi was £13 return each time. We were charged an extra £8 per night for our dog.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
