Hotel was fine and we had great views out the front window. Compared to the quality of other hotels and B & Bs we have been staying in, it was overpriced.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"We love Skye!"
Uig is a great location to centre yourself for a visit to the isle of Skye. Close to the great hiking and the ferry to Lewis. Just behind the hotel and up the road there is a spot you shouldn't miss if you are in Uig - they call it the Faerie Glen! Wow !! Stark background of Skye - where the land seems to touch the sky (I know why this place is called […] "Skye") - with small faerie hills and grass and trees a green I have never seen before. Yes - it is faerie glen!! The hotel food was great (we had dinner and breakfast) and the servers were fabulous. The innkeeper was a bit gruff but helpful once you break through the grumpiness :) The rooms were a bit worn - but with the specacular scenery in Skye you won't be spending much time in your room! We loved this place!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
For the price we paid for the budget room, it was in an annexe and very dingy. The evening meal was very expensive for the food we were served, so much so that we cancelled our reservation for breakfast. Will not be back. The Manager / owner wandered round outside all the time smoking..Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A terrific hotel in a great location"
The Uig Hotel is a great place to stay. It has great views and is a very comfortable hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is excellent - good food and good service. The hotel is close o the Tarbert ferry which was useful for us. We would certainly highly recommend the Uig Hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Bed was not comfortable, too soft. :) That is allGenuine Expedia guest review
A Historic Hotel located in the small community of Uig. The main Hotel with Bar and Dining Room was very nice but the annex where our room was tired and in need of upgrading. Very good food and friendly staff.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Home on holiday!"
We found the hotel comfortable and friendly, with very much a homely feeling. Bill and Wendy were very welcoming and east to talk to, creating a very pleasant atmosphere. We ate our meals, breakfast and dinner, at the hotel as the food was excellent (the home made fish cakes were to die for), being homely, healthy, generous and very tasty. We enjoyed […] our stay immensely. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is guite old but still working well. The showers should be descaled or changed as more oe lee water is coming out. Also the fan in the bathrom was not working which is not very good. The television channels as dirupted and not worth to look at.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean and tidy"
Large, clean room. Further from the main centre than we realised. Internet not available in our room. Bathroom needs work. Lovely breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the room was large and had a great view but the we were kept awake by noises from other rooms and the bottom sheet was too small and would pull away at night to leave the mattress bare around our faces.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"I feel bad writing this..."
The people were very nice in the hotel, but it was not a good stay. My husband is a little over 6ft tall and the room we paid for was not a good fit. We got one of the rooms facing the water (10) and the view was lovely, but the bathroom was terrible for anyone tall. The ceiling was slanted over the tub which made a shower impossible. The kind man running […] the check-in allowed us to use #5 for a shower, but it was very fiddly with the temp and had little pressure. The bed needed a new mattress, but the towels were decent and clean. No washcloths, but that is to be expected in the UK. We ate in the restaurant and the food was good, but not great. Overall, we slept terribly and really couldn't shower well which ruined the experience a bit. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"beds comfy, location superb,food excellent,"
the room was clean , however requires updating , the food was excellent , staff service was excellent , breakfast was excellent, location is superb , the hotel itself could do with updating , apart from that excellent would stay agianGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The best thing about the hotel was the amazing view! We stayed in the Uig Lodge and while our room was comfortable and clean there was a very unpleasant smell in the hall so whenever we left the room we had to hold our breath. We didn't mind too much though because the smell wasn't present in the room itself. We didn't eat dinner in the restaurant but […] the dinner was good. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Desperately needing renovation"
The towels were clean and fresh, the breakfast good, the staff courteous, but the room ... It looked as if it had been last renovated in the 50s (and then badly), there is nowhere to put anything, the basin is in the bedroom, not in the bathroom, taking even more space. The bathroom is antediluvian and there was just one hanger in the cupboard. The […] disastrous design details are too numerous to mention. As a final insult, there is no Wifi to be had. "Ok but not great."
The hotel feels a bit tired. We stayed in the lodge which was cheaper but didn't include breakfast. The room was large but the decor was very dated. The windows didn't close properly (one was broken) and there was a lot of floorboard creaking from the room above. The restaurant had good food but it was overpriced and the service wasn't great. The dining […] room is starkly lit with barely a picture on the wall, so not exactly an intimate dining experience! The hotel is not bad but it needs a bit of updating as it has a good location and potential. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Average Hotel for the price."
Friendly staff and a great breakfast. Had one meal in the hotel - which was a little disappointing, presentation and mashed potatoes not quite right, particularly given the cost of the meals. Overall an okay hotel but would recommend dinner elsewhere. Dinning room appeared recently refurbished but lacked atmosphere and finishing touches.Genuine Expedia guest review

Owners were wonderful and very helpful. The view of Uig harbour from the room was a wonderful treat--complete with a rainbow one morning. The room was nicely appointed and large. We liked the location beause it is convenient to some excellent walks nearby and the ferry to Harris and a scenic and easy drive around the top to other hikes on the east side […] or south into Portree for shopping and dining. It's quiet and relaxing--just what we wanted. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A pleasant surprise"
Booked despite reading mixed reviews on trip advisor but were pleasantly surprised. Room was large, had all we needed and fantastic views of the sea. It would appear the annexe is the problem for many.We ate in the restaurant for both nights of our stay and the food was very good - yes it's not cheap but it is quality. Breakfasts also a delight. Staying in lodge beds in room had seen better days. At breakfast all though not last to arrive in dining last to be served and order was wrong. Location was good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Everything was fine. My room was away from the main building but with convenient parking. My feeling was that it looked like an ordinary motel rather than a hotel, but I had no complaints. It was a good place to stay on a very damp and cold weekend.Genuine Expedia guest review
"What will be, will be."
Owing to floods and landslip, we were delayed 11 hours on travel from London to Glasgow and missed connection to Fort William Thursday, 28 June. By Friday the tracks between Glasgow and Ft William were closed, and we were too exhausted to take the bus from Glasgow to Uig. Thus, we had to change itinerary. I liked the Uig Hotel the last time I stayed […] there and will choose it the next time I am on Skye. The last time I stayed, the hotel was superb. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Location for ferry service and island attractions"
The hotel was clean and tidy but a bit run down could do with some TLC but adequate for our stay. Staff friendly and food ok. Would recommend to stay but be aware of limitations.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
There was a shortage of sockets in the room, in fact there was only one and it was on the opposite side of the room to the mirror which made using a hair dryer difficult. We couldn't get the shower head to work but there was a bath. There was no tv signal throughout our stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
last minute reservation, very nice hotel, a little expensive, very friendly/helpful staff ... family runGenuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel UIG: Too expensive, poorly maintained"
The situation is OK, but you'll be close to a road in the northest part of the Island, although it seems to be in Portree (it's in the district, in fact, but not in the town). You may think you're booking a hotel in the town, but it's in Uig (20 min. away). The room was OK, but the heater didn't work, the WC seat was broken as well, the shower didn't […] give pressure to the water, the TV was like 20 years old, and it was impossible to watch any channel. The breakfast was OK if you want to have Scottish breakfast since the buffet is quite poor. Not a good impression at all... but at least you can sleep in Skye for kind of an affordable price, which is not easy. On the other hand, the views from the room were brilliant, somehow mystic, and the owner tried to solve our issues. We only had one night experience, so maybe there are other rooms in better conditions. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The owners were lovely. Wendy is a first class chef and the restaurant in the hotel is wonderful. There's not much else around unless you fancy the 14m drive into Portree. They are so nice they are even going to send me my jacket back which I left hanging in the cupboard! Well recommended - you get the home away from home treatment.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very welcoming. Meals very good. Lovely room. Ideal location -both for having an enjoyable holiday and access to the ferry for trips to hebrides.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Uig Hotel convenient for the Ferry to Harris"
Small and friendly hotel. I stayed to get ferry the next day which worked well. It is run by a south african couple who are helpful and sociable. The food was basic but good as I was there out of season, being the only resident that night. A trip to Harris as a foot passenger was good value at £10-70 including a sail into Lochmaddy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a great location on Skye, with great views out over the water. The staff are very nice and the hotel itself is quaint. The restaurant menu is quite limited however, there are other places to eat in the local village. Overall, not bad at all.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Uig Hotel - Northern Isle of Skye"
Overall, the hotel is decent. I would recommend it to a friend if they wanted to stay in the northern portion of the Isle of Skye. It is close (within minutes of) to the Quirang (for great hiking). The hotel has an attached restaraunt, which is pretty nice. Some of the rooms (at least where we stayed) were not attached to the main building. It was […] roomy, but had a "trailer" feel to it, like it was part hotel, part mobile home. The only thing slower than the showerhead was the drain... so no water pressure, AND the shower pan filled up with water. Otherwise, a fairly nice place... a three of five, but I didn't see anything better in the immediate area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Uig Hotel, Uig, Skye, Scotland"
The room we were given was in an annexe and it was accessed like a motel room, with the door opening to the outside. There was a cold, damp feel to the room and we asked for the heating to be turned on. The washbasin was in the bedroom and not in the bathroom. We did not like this room or feel comfortable in it. On a positive note both breakfast and […] dinner were good and the staff were friendly. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
