"Smells like fried food"
I booked this online thinking it would be decent based on online photos. The room I booked had two singles instead of a double and the room itself was maybe 5 foor wide. Not cool. And the bathroom and shower were public. Gross. But the real reason I left and couldn't stay the night was the horrible smell of fried food. It was just unbearable.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel in an ideal location"
The hotel itself is perfect for a weekend away, me and my girlfriend stayed over and loved how everything is in walking distance. The hotel is everything you need and for a great price, I would definitely recommend it.Genuine Expedia guest review
This is an inexpensive London hotel. The room was typically small but all aspects of the service were good. The drawback to this hotel is that sound travels easily between rooms and one night I was awkened by boise from a room across the corridor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Attending for short stay. Perfect location. Poor room but accommodating staff wouldn't recommend if planning to spend more than sleep in the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Very Bad Hotel"
This hotel is not a great stay. I am not a hotel snob and most of the time just stay places for business with a place to get my head down for a few hours. The list of issues with this hotel is so long. The place was grubby, Shower in the room (literally in the room) was blocked and would not drain so had to have a 2 min shower before the water spilled […] over onto the floor. Beds needs replacing. Toilet was not in the room and up on the second floor i could go on... the two bits that were good was the staff were very friendly and could not do more to help and the cooked breakfast was good, apart from that it was not a trip that I would repeat and not even cheap! "Just OK to be in the center of the city"
Too old for the money they ask.Genuine Expedia guest review
The first room T.V did not work and no phone in room, was moved to top floor to a different room and pipes in shower/toilet smelt very bad.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"OK but slightly worn"
The Garth is in a fairly good location but it's old and worn. OK...but not a bargain at its price and slightly worn and not extremely clean. The staff was wonderful and the breakfast ladies very kind but the whole hotel feels tired.Genuine Expedia guest review
Ok hotel for what I wanted and a nice full English breakfast includedGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Its not great"
Its budget rate for a reason, taps dripped, repairs bodged in the past but if its just somewhere to doss down it was fairly clean and in crazy london prices you get what you pay for. Dont take the partner for a special weekend or may single for drive homeGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is located in a suitable place and the staff are very supportive and friendly. I felt safe and comfortable in this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
In desperate need of renovation. Clean (ish) hard beds, tired and in need of a good clean. Only good things were location and breakfastGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"1 Night Stay"
I stayed for 1 night at the Garth Hotel. It was okay, the room was very small but decent, and the toilets kept really clean. The only downside is that in the morning, there was a strong smell of grease coming from the kitchen that permeated around my whole room, causing my clothes to smell awful. Other than that, it was okay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"You get what you pay for!"
OK, it's not The Dorchester, but if you want a warm and a reasonably comfortable place to sleep then it's fine. The breakfast was fine as well. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to walk to the centre of Soho, Staff are friendly enough too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Boys trip to London."
This Hotel is a bit on the tired side. However if you are on a budget and just need a bed for the night- this is just fine. Good Wi Fi, Good Breakfast, Realy Good Location. Not a place I would take the wife for a romantic trip, But for a lads trip or such like just fine. Would use again.Genuine Expedia guest review
I've probably stayed in worse hotels than this, but I'm struggling to remember one. On the plus side it is only a short walk to Goodge Street tube and to be fair the room is kept clean and the bedding looked like it had been laundered. On the negative side... electric sockets hanging off the bedroom wall; mysterious holes in the walls and skirtings […] bulging with expanding foam; a grim shared bathroom with an overflowing kitchen bin(!) cracked 1970s tiles and a slow draining trickle of a shower complete with a carpet of other peoples 'body hair'; dirty carpets, ancient decoration and random bits of wiring cable-tied on to the banisters just round off the ambiance. For anyone to charge as much as I was for a tiny 'double' room with the cheapest, most uncomfortable catalogue-store bed is disgraceful but perhaps an indication of the state of hotel provision in London. In the last 12 months I've stayed in budget hotels in Paris and Stockholm - 2 of the most expensive cities in Europe - and paid significantly less money for a much more pleasant experience. Whoever runs The Garth should be ashamed of themselves. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"don't go there"
Our stay at the Garth was a huge disappointment. The photo's on the website are not up to date. There is no garden. Used to be a lovely garden but long, long ago. Everything is overgrown and there's litter all around. The windows were not cleaned in years and the net curtains were black of dirt. It is not a family run hotel anymore. The breakfast was […] served in the basement where not a single window could be opened. Outside 30C. The kitchen was also situated in the basement, no windows there as well. We had a sewer smell in our bedroom cause of leaking sewer pipes outside. When a toilet or shower was used in the hotel we heard a noise and could see the liquid disappearing in a hole. The smell was horrible. Emergency and Fire regulations are not up to standard. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Visit to Garth"
OKGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My room was adequate for one night's stay. It's a shame they couldn't spend a bit on it because the building is lovely. What lets it down is its tired, mismatched furniture and odd arrangements such as a shower cubicle inside the room. The bottom of the net curtains looked as though someone had taken garden shears to them. The wash basin had toothpaste […] smeared on it and the edges of the carpets were grey with dust. Fortunately the bedsheets were clean. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Basic hotel with great location"
Reception staff were friendly and allowed us to leave items at the hotel after check out. The location of the hotel was perfect but the road noise was loud and disturbing. The breakfast was very basic and the staff were less pleasant in the kitchens. The hotel is a bit tired with regard to decor but the price we paid reflected that.Genuine Expedia guest review
Overall I wasn't impressed with the hotel. The rooms weren't very nice, the bathrooms weren't very clean, and the breakfast staff just seemed stressed instead of helpful or friendly. I wouldn't book a room there again. I know there are better places to stay, especially considering the price I paid.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Not comfy, very cramped and not like the photo, furniture dated and found rubbish in a draw.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was clean;linen was fresh.Room was shabby;fixtures and fittings hanging off. Room furniture dilapidated and not matching. Windows were filthy and had not been cleaned for an age.Bathroom tiles were chipped. Very basic facilities for the money. All staff were courteous and helpful. All the ones we met were from Eastern European background.Genuine Expedia guest review
Budget hotel, adequate standard so you get what you pay for!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Bedrooms was quaint, typically British, could use a bigger pillow. Shower left a lot to be desired. But was made up for a terrific cooked English breakfast each morning. :) Stairs cod be a challenge for some. Good location, walking from train and shops, but away from noise. :)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very small room, with two single beds (and about 10" between them). No chair, very small shower in room, but (shared) bigger and better on half landing. Help-yourself cereal, coffee. and fruit juice.Tea and full English breakfast (cooked to order), Room clean but general decor well-used and rather tired. Would I stay there again?- yes, but I'd try elsewhere […] first. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
After an error occuring during the booking of the hotel we quickly got in contact with the customer support at hotels.com.. The person in the other end was very helpful and we got the problems sorted out in no time! When we got to the hotel the lady there was all smiles and helpful so we found the room fast and made ourselves comfortable. The only negative […] aspect were some faulty wall sockets but thats it. All in all a very good experience! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I booked this after reading the reviews and was happy with the room I got. Even though it was in the basement it was quiet and away from the traffic, although a little basic it had a shower and tea making facilities. I would recommend this hotelGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Even though I was early I had a choice of rooms with a speedy check in and and assistance with my luggage to my room did not partake in breakfast which included as it was not served until 8 am and i had to leave for an early flight at 6 am Although ever effort is made to make the hotel comfortable it could use some serious renovations.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"small sink, big kettle"
Comfortable and good location. Staff were helpful and friendly. As London prices go these days this was reasonable value, biggest frustration was having a family room with family sized kettle and a vanity sink. AT least it was en-suite.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Yuk! Don't stay here!"
Pay a few dollars more and stay in a real hotel. This hole in the wall was filthy, noisy, and our two beds had paper thin mattresses, coils jabbing us in the ribs, and as the hotel building in ancient, all the floors sloped, which meant our beds also sloped. If you aren't careful, you'll wind up on the floor, which is filthy. I opened thewindow and […] had 50 years worth of back grime on my palms. The fols at reception don't speak English, by the way, so total communication breakdown: youvan't understand them, nor they, you. They do serve a hot English breakfast, but there are no niceties like yogurt or fresh fruit. Truly a disappointing experience. Never again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very convenient location BUT the pokiest room I have ever staye in [worse than student acoomodation] with very poor glazing which did little to dampen traffic noise for sleep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"when convenience means more than luxury"
What can I say except for it was OK. That kind of sums it up. It wasn't a costly experience and therefore I didn't have high expectations. Good job too as they wouldn't have been met. However, the location was excellent, the room was clean and it had a bathroom which at the end of the day was all I needed. If you're looking for somewhere convenient […] to locate and don't really ask more than a room to sleep in at the end of the night-this is the place for you. If you expect gold plated (or even tin plated!) taps, a 5 star buffet and a room the size of a small concert hall you'd better look elsewhere. Enjoy! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not fit to be called a hotel"
No padding in mattress, only springs so had to lay blankets on top of the mattress to sleep. No milk for tea/coffee in room as they were 'waiting for the delivery'. Unable to lock the bedroom door so felt very vulnerable all night. Shared toilet was virtually outside walls, fixtures and fittings were covered in rust and mould.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very nice friendly receptionist. Charming pictures on hallway and stairs. However rooms very small with paper-thin wallsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good stay for the price"
Good comfy stay apart from the smell of smoke in the room. Ideal location for the tube and getting around london.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Everything was adequate, except for the bed mattress. It felt like I was sleeping on a sun lounger mattress on top of large pebbles - so not comfortable at all! Also the room was situated next to the front door and the door bell rang each time people entered the hotel - not great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Friendly Staff - Good Loccation"
I was enrolled on a course close to Euston Station so chose the hotel mainly for location. As I would be returning late each night, it was really a bed for the night not too far away. I was greeted in a friendly way and I was able to check in early which was useful as I could off load my bags on my arrival before starting my course. I felt for the price […] the room was fine and basic. The mattress was a little 'lumpy' but on both nights I slept very soundly. My room was a single and there was no desk for writing which would have been quite useful. The breakfast was fine - cooked to order - always better than a buffet. Parts of it could have been hotter. All in all a nice little hotel which served its purpose. I would consider returning there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"You get what you pay for...."
Rather poor and tatty - we spent over nighted there and spent the minimum amount of time in the place. Ensuite was a joke - could barely move in it. Toilet seat rotten, presumably from urine. Sink was so small it was impossible to fill the kettle up from it. Cracked / broken tiles on floor. Bed was against an old fireplace so couldn't sit up in it without […] risk of cracking head against mantlepiece. One saving grace was the breakfast - it was really good Would I return : No Was it value for money : I guess so, considering its location Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
As with all London hotel rooms that I've stayed in, this was miniscule and a bit shabby. I'd requested a room on the back (as Gower Street is noisy) and this was in the basement. There was a shower in the room, but I had to walk through the reception office to get to a toilet! This wasn't ideal - particularly in the middle of the night. The mattress […] was lumpy and you could hear everything from the room next door and upstairs. It was okay for one night - as the location was brilliant - but probably wouldn't stay there for more than that. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The location of the hotel is quite nice : close to St Pancras International Station, two underground stations at 5-10 minutes and near central London. But the room (2 single beds) was very small, clean at our arrival but not cleaned during our stay (4 days). The bathroom, supposedly shared with one other bedroom, was shared with 4 others bedroom (2 […] to 3 occupants in each) and situated on another floor. The plumbing was terrible with no pressure so it was hard to shower properly. We had a nice stay in London, but the hotel was disappointing. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent location and very competitive price"
The staff were freindly. The room was clean, the bed was OK, the shower was good, there was no chair to sit on. The toilets were shared - not en-suite. The breakfast was adequate. However, the location was so good and the price so reasonable I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel!Genuine Expedia guest review
"The Garth Hotel, Gower st. London."
The Hotel was in easy walking distance of everything that I wanted to visit. The Staff were friendly and . The Hotel was clean and tidy and although the bathroom we shared needed some attention, I think that some refurbishment is in progress as the dining area looked smart and new.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient to St Pancras"
This is a good option if you are travelling out of St Pancras. It is old-style European hospitality and worth the price.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Garth hotel London is in a nice quite area"
The B&B was in a nice quite area, close to bus stops and the underground. Location wise I thought it was great. The actual accommodation was good too, rooms were clean and tidy, the bathroom was a bit small. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Overall I would use them againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
