Price and location were right. Grounds and maintainance inside and out were above average....flowers blooming everywhere! Front desk friendly and efficient. Room spacious and well appointed with 2 Q beds and new, big, flat screen TV (room 301). Towels were not lush, but there were 4 of them, so no issues!

This is a good choice if North Vancouver is your destination. Lots of shopping and eating in the market below the hotel, which is also where the parking is located. The more upscale and higher priced rooms get you further out towards the water, which can be worth it in terms of quiet and view.

Hotel was very clean and new. Hotel is in middle of Chinatown so you won't see many chain restaurants or food other than very traditional Asian.

Would have given this place all 5's except that I had to call for service one day because we had been skipped. Place is all very new and high-tech - even the lights and drapes are computerized. High end amenities (soap, etc)

Top to bottom one of the best hotels I have stayed at. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent and unique drinks at the bar. Fantastic restaurant. Good downtown location. Will stay here again when in Vancouver.

You will want for nothing in this hotel. We were treated with great respect and welcomed with open arms. The Executive King with Balcony was amazing - 2 balconies (one in the bathroom). I can't find a thing that I didn't like about this hotel experience.
Very nice luxury hotel. Room was extremely clean and comfortable. Hotel location was decent- about a 10-15 min walk to Stanley Park or Gastown. About5-10 min to the waterfront and right around the corner from Robson St. Great market next-door.

This hotel is lovely in its appointments, however is best suited for the business traveler. There is insufficient space for clothing, both folded and hanging, and the room itself is a bit small for two adults to lounge and move about.

"Van Shang"
We stayed at the Shangri-La for one weekend night in June. The hotel is very nice and located in a great neighborhood. We don't usually spend this much on rooms as we typically like to explore when traveling, so the "Shang" was a real treat for tired feet. The room was very comfortable and had lots of space and technological advances. We had burgers […] from the room service menu, which were also delicious. My one slight concern was that I had reserved a king balcony, but was "upgraded" to a suite upon arrival. We would have liked to have that balcony. "Shangri-La in Vancouver - Expensive but very nice!"
Our room was beautiful, and had a couch/sitting area. The closet was very big and the bathroom was outstanding. Loved the drapes, lights, and shutters that were all controlled by buttons on the wall. Service was excellent, and the food in the restaurants was delicious. And there was an Urban Fare (grocery/deli) right next door for any convenience items […] you might need. Everyone at the concierge desk was very knowledgable and helpful. They gave us great directions and suggestions. The hotel is within walking distance of Canada Place, the Gaslight district, Chinatown, Stanley Park and some great shopping; the area seemed very safe and clean. The health club and spa were great, and the club was never very busy. There was a television in the bathroom as well as the living room, but strangely - the channel lineup in the bathroom was totally different than in the living room! It's like they were on two separate cable services. It is not a cheap hotel, but if you are willing to pay a little extra for luxury, the Shangri-La is a great find! Read more

My wife and I usually stay at Mandarin Oriental locations when deciding on this price point for a hotel, but I think we might just have changed our allegiances. The best hotel experience I had in my life was back in the 90s at the Oriental Bangkok. The service was impeccable. However, this has changed. Shangri La Vancouver is the perfect mix of eastern […] warmth and hospitality with western efficiency and systems. Everything in the hotel worked together like a perfectly orchestrated symphony. The room was very comfortable, the spa was an unforgettable experience, the location was perfect for being new to downtown Vancouver (walking distance to water front), and the rate we received was significantly below what we ended up experiencing. "Beautiful Hotel, wonderful service"
I loved this hotel. It is newly built and therefore has a number of amenities that older hotels can't have. For instance, the lighting concepts in the rooms are very modern and beautiful, the mirrors in the bathrooms have plasma tvs embedded in them, etc. They also have free fruit and bottles of water in the room (and they don't sneak $20 onto your […] bill for it). The restaurant in the hotel is elegant and delicious with great cocktails and a friendly bartender. The concierge is so helpful. They accomodated our 10am check-in even though our rooms weren't supposed to be ready until 2pm. The beds are amazing and huge with fantastic sheets and mattresses. "Shangri-La in Vancouver - One fine stay"
This was one of the best hotels we have visited. The room was very comfortable and the staff was extremely attentive. One of the best beds I have slept in. We will surely stay at the Shangri-La in Vancouver again.

Everyone at the hotel couldn't have been friendlier and, for the most part, more helpful. The accommodations were excellent although needing to have your key card in a slot by the door to allow use of all electrical in the rooms is a bit odd. Also, subterranean check in seems odd. The staff was so bad that it really overshadowed the nice hotel itself. On multiple occasions, the staff treated my wife and myself with disrespect, seemingly trying to make use feel stupid. When we requested assistance for simple things (dinner suggestions etc) the concierge staff and others acted as if we should know about the city all ready and then […] were put out when we asked to take the tourist map they reluctantly had circled the location on.There was not even a doorman! At check-out, I mentioned to the staff that we were less than thrilled and the check-out staff simply said "Oh, OK! Have a good day." This being said, the facility itself was very nice. We had a deluxe room, which was more than adequate for us. The bathroom amenities were great and the internet was fast. Workout facilities were great. I was disappointed enough in the staff that I will never be staying at the hotel again. At a five staff hotel, attention should be paid to details--it wasn't. This is a very laid back quiet hotel with an excellent staff & pleasant accommodations. It is located downtown across the street from the Shanghai China Bistro - a superior Chinese restaurant. Employees are very pleasant & attentive. Room was a touch small however bathroom was a good size & very luxurious. My only complaints was that the breakfast took […] an exceeding long time to get - on 2 separate days - over 1/2 hour & I had to complain the 2nd day - after which it came out in 5 minutes. Food was good however. Had trouble connecting to the wireless internet but tech support resolved that after 1 day -could connect in lobby. Close to Robson Street and Shopping. New Hotel though, so had hiccups like our hotel room key didn't work. Management had to let us in using their master key. It was the executive suite which is only marginally larger than the standard room. Unless you MUST have a divided living room with a pull out bed then go for it. Expensive but totally worth it. The service and attentiveness of the staff was exemplary. The location was excellent if you want to visit the Art Museum, Robson St. shopping, etc.

The highlights of our stay at the Shangri-La were the interactions we had with staff members, who took the time to really listen and make a personal connection when helping us. They also literally went out of their way to be helpful, and exemplified the meaning of "solicitude".

This hotel is abosolutely fabulous. It is worthe every penny that is spent to stay at this place. The service is great. We were waiting for a cab for 30 minutes and no cab showed up and the front desk went out of their way to take us to our destination in the hotel car. Along with this no matter what time of the day anything that was requested like […] ice, blankets, and pillows were provided no matter the time of day. Excellent service was the cherry on top of a wonderful stay at the Shangri-La. Highly recommend it! Lucked out on a special with complimentary valet parking and breakfast, which made the stay very comparable in price to other hotels in area, but the hotel and service themselves made it the BEST deal around!

"Nice hotel, but has issues"
Beautiful, well appointed, modern, never lacking in conveniences. But, unfortunately, all that modern technology can cause more problems then they are worth. Our heating could not be lowered due to a technical problem in a very high tech system. Costed us a nights rest, and consequently hampered the rest of our stay.

We had an enjoyable stay, very comfortable rooms. Staff made you feel very welcome. One and only criticism...all rooms are "city view" ironically as this is the tallest building in the area. The hotel occupies the first fifteen floors and the private residences the top umpteen floors. Too bad considering the breath taking views of the mountains that […] day. This hotel is one of the nicest (if not THE nicest) hotel we have had the pleasure of staying in. The staff were top notch, the rooms were large and very comfortable, the bathrooms were palatial, and the housekeeping was perfect. Also, we ate at 2 restaurants in the hotel, both of which were a treat. The gym had great equipment and the outdoor hot […] tub area was also very relaxing.
