Staybridge Suites Rochester University - Rochester

Nice hotel overall - very convenient to University of Rochester campus (reason for our trip). Suite was small but comfortable and well-appointed. Good breakfast service.

I was disappointed that the room was not handicapped assessable as requested. Yes the doors were extra wide, but the room layout would have proved to be a problem for anyone in a wheelchair. My biggest problem was that the toilet, which was too low to be considered handicap accessible, and had no handrails. We stayed at Staybridge Suites to see a concert at U of R. Extremely convenient, and we liked having a kitchen available. It was very clean, and would have been quiet except that there was a rehearsal dinner party going on literally under our room until 1am, and there was no mention of that or attempt to change or room upon check in. It turns out that […] no other rooms were available, but I was assured that the next night would be quieter, but it wasn't due to a Passover dinner party that evening. I think our room should have been given to someone who was attending the wedding who might not have minded the late night party.....but at the very least we should have been warned by the reception staff (who were otherwise quite delightful). Two families and my family booked 3 rooms for the weekend to see a sports event. Abby greeted us appon arival. She was great with all our questions. She helped us find local places to get dinner for all 12 of us. We will stay there again.

As a parent of a student at the University of Rochester, I appreciate the location of the hotel and the attractive river view. However, I need to mention a couple of issues which the hotel needs to address. First, I noticed that someone has been sick (vomited) into the trash receptacle next to one of the side entrances. This mess was still there 24 […] hours later, and was completely disgusting. Second, I would like to request that the hotel provide real butter pats and real half and half with the morning breakfast, instead of just offering Country Crock and Coffee Mate. A greater selection of bagels or other whole grain breads would also be very much appreciated. Read more

My husband, two sons & I stayed at the Staybridge Suites while my son had a procedure done at Strong Memorial Hospital. We were comfortable in the Suite with the small kitchenette. Our room was clean and the kids enjoyed swimming in the pool. It was so close to the hospital which was great for us. The staff was friendly. nice motel-good location-comfortable-nice breakfast but had mice droppings in pull-out sofa for daughter and had kids yelling and running the hallway at 12:00pm!!!

Our son goes to University of Rochester and hotel is VERY convenient to the school. Surrounding neighborhood is OK but really need to drive to get to a restaurant. Wolfgang Puck coffee served at hotel is icky.

Pleasanly surprised how nice the hotel was, espcially for an extended stay. As for the breakfast, there is a reason why it's complimentary.

We arrived early, and could't check in. I was with a 2 & 8 year old that needed to use the restroom. It was a mess. No toilet paper, garbage overflowing etc. The room was fairly clean, but we found a piece of food on the floor covered in ants. Beautiful hotel, just think they need a better staff. I also returned home to find 2 charges on my credit card. […] I was told nothing would be charged except for incedentals. One was $101 the other was $20. I called the manager, and was told he would research it, and get back to me. I later received a message that the charges are automatically deducted, and are credited back after checkout??? Living close to Rochester it was a nice change of pace to see Rochester on a 24 hour clock. The hotel was closer to some of the things we wanted to see outside of Buffalo .By staying in Rochester we cut off three hours from our trip and had a through;y enjoyable time . We had a delightful end of summer visit to our son at the University of Rochester. Pleasant riverside location invites you to sit on porch. Breakfast fine. Clean and quiet.

In all our travels, this one ranks No. 1. Friendly, helpful, clean rooms, great pool, beautiful setting on the river, wonderful breakfasts and dinner nights. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will definitely be back!

Our stay was very comfortable and the hotel ammentities made it perfect for our family of four. Breakfast, weekday dinner, pool, free dvd rentals, and a roomy suite all included for a reasonable price really made this a great value. We stayed at this lovely place and traveled to the falls. It took about 90minutes. The hotel was clean and cozy and very charming!!

The hotel was great, but the one person working at the front desk had no regular coffee, and was not free to bring the decaf to the room. In the morning they asked me to go down to get it, also, so I'm thinking they were severely short-handed. Their attitude was great, 'tho, so hopefully they can hire a couple more people.

Having left Boston about 6 hours earlier, my two teenagers and I were overwhelmingly grateful upon arrival at the Staybridge Suites to learn we were just in time to indulge in the hotel's complimentary lasagna dinner. What a treat! And we also received complimentary beverages, including soda and juice for them and beer or wine for me. That was such […] a nice welcome mat! Our stay was comfortable. The kids worked out and used the pool. We have no complaints but only good things to say. The hotel is at the river's edge and offers nice outdoor seating and walking path. We toured the Univ of Rochester in the morning, which was located directly across the river. This was our last of six college tours and the convenience was so appreciated. If one of my kids would decide to attend the university (which is beautiful), I would definitely book a room at the Staybridge when I came to visit. Read more

Nice rooms, lots of space. Weekend housekeeping not the best, kind of left us on our own. Wonderful breakfast but kept having to wait for food to be refilled. We enjoyed out stay and would recommend to others!

I have stayed in this chain of hotels in Florida, so it was an easy choice for Rochester. I am happy I chose Staybridge. As usual, the studio I picked was comfy and roomy for us and our baby. The staff made sure there was a crib in the room, before I got there. I can't tell you how helpful it is to have a full breakfast "in" the hotel, so I didn't need […] to run out with the baby. I've stayed there before and it was great... This time it stunk! My rating was more for the previous visits than this one. Pool was closed - we had two 5 year old boys that were heartbroken! Rooms aren't cleaned on the weekends unless you specifically ask for it to be done. They don't come in at all, not even to empty the garbage cans. Ran out of […] toilet paper. On our way out one morning we asked that they send more up. They never brought it. Room was big enough for 4 people (queen bed and sofabed) but kitchen area only had glasses, plates, silverware etc. for 2 people... had to eat in shifts. Like I said, I've stayed there before and previous visit was nearly perfect... this time was terrible. They have a nice breakfast buffet, great patio and can walk along the river in warm weather. Nice pool - when it's open. :-( Comfy lounge area downstairs to hangout with board games for the kids. Workout room. In general the hotel is clean and previous visits were great. Read more

The breakfast buffet was very nice. One minor negative comment - We stayed for two nights. We were in the room when they came to clean, and I told them we were leaving in 1/2 hour. We returned late that night, and they had not come back to clean the room. It was too late in the evening at that point.

this hotel is right across the river from the university of rochester--which is convenient, but just remember that means lots of college kids live in the surrounding area. i was woken up several times to the noises of partying younger people. the hotel is brand new (as of 2010) and nice. the staff seem inexperienced and had to be reminded multiple times […] to bring an ironing board and iron to my room. This was a great hotel! Wonderful free breakfast. The room was clean and well equipped. We stayed at a lot of hotels that only claim to be pet friendly but this one actually was. The only thing was the staff was a little over the top. The night manager was rude upon arrival and the staff were very "rules" oriented. Stayed at this hotel so we could visit the University of Rochester and found a great river view of the campus. Complementary cookout on the day we stayed. Rooms like new and helpful staff. River views from the great room and Hotel patio where we had our breakfast . The city river walk runs along the hotel patio and is only a few hundred yards from the […] footbridge to the University campus. Read more

The Staybridge Suites in Rochester is a little off the beaten path, but I was happy with the setting along the river when I arrived. It has become my go to place when in the Rochester area.

My overall experience was good but the weekend front desk guy wasn't that friendly. I felt as if he was talking down to me whenever I needed something. He is the main reason why I will not stay at that Hotel again. They have someone with better customer service skills.

The Staybridge Suites University of Rochester is directly across the river from Rochester University and a nice park that fronts the river. The hotel rooms are spacious, although not truly suites, but more than adequate for one person or for a couple traveling together. I would not recommend having more than 2 people in a room, unless you expect no […] privacy at all. The breakfast was pretty good, although heavy on carbohydrates, with no meat or eggs (except hard boiled ones). In spite of the description on Hotels.com, and the information posted at the airport, the hotel does NOT offer shuttle service, at least in the evening. There is very limited service in the morning. Very nice, new and comfortable hotel; front desk staff was overly friendly and helpful; location is convenient to all; only draw-back was the cleanliness of the rooms. We had 2 rooms and both were found unacceptably dirty. I stay in the area several times per year and thought I'd found the perfect hotel if not for the filthy rooms. Management claims it is unlawful to issue credits for early check outs and refused to refund my money for early check out. Furious that I had hotels.com and Staybridge did not credit me for an unused night's stay.

This is an extended stay property. They have no cleaning service on weekends. A two bed "suite" is really one room with a sofa bed on one side that opens to the foot of the real bed. there is a tiny kitchenette area with a fridge, micro wave and 2 electric burners. The hotel has a pool and gym and there were kids running doenthe halls yelling which […] the staff seemed oblivious to. the complimentary breakfast was the best part just becasue it was a little more than ocntinental. on the plsu side, the staff was very helpful and friendly when it came to giving directions, recommending restaurants etc. We were on a college visit and for that, it was adequate. Their internet connection was up and down during the 2 days I was there. Time-Warner is theirprovider and was saying the issue was within the hotel, the hotel was saying it was with the connection to the internet. Time-Warner, according to the hotel, is responsible for the on-site hardware. At check-out I was told Time-Warner was finally sending someone […] to check the hardware. The Staybridge Suites was a great deal. For the price a cheap motel I received a suite, great service, free breakfast, a nice workout room, occasional free dinners, a comfy common room, a deck overlooking the river and direct access to the running trail leading into the park. This was a very nice hotel considering the nieghborhood it was in. We did have to go to the front desk to get extra towels and T.P. as there was hardly any in the room when we arrived. Would stay there again.

Great service, complete ammenities, nighlty happy hour with food and drinks and a great trail along the river for runners.

Very good, new suite hotel. Service was friendly, got complimentary upgrade and river-view location. Room was very comfortable and in very good condition. Breakfast was fine. Hotel is convenient to walking path along river, but aren't any restaurants to walk to.

We were expecting a bit larger suitte for 5 people. other than being on top of each other, it was a pleasant experience

The suite we had was beautiful. The room was spottless and well-apppointed, we were provided with dishes, glases, everything we needed to makeourselves very comfortable...even a dishwasher. We asked for a recommendation for dinner and she suggested Mario's, a nearby restaurant (WONDERFUL, best steak I have ever had). Wanted a few days away with the kids and booked into the Staybridge suites. What a pleasant suprise. The hotel was spotless, the room was nicely laid-out and very comfortable. This suites hotel is an ideal location for the University of Rochester and hospital, which are across the Genesee River on a footbridge and only 5 minutes drive on a direct route. It is not handy to the city centre, but that's no loss. The small kitchen is handy for preparing meals (especially for a family), but the breakfasts are free (with a good […] variety of food), and on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings a free supper is also available as a "meet and greet" strategy. The balcony from the restaurant overlooks the river, and there is easy access to the river paths. The staff is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel. Read more
