"Lovely little bed and breakfast "

Being a 29yr old women on my own, I felt safe at argyle lodge. Lovely little bed and breakfast. The lady that run argyle lodge was really friendly. The rooms had everything you needed, clean and comfortable. Also the breakfast was lovely, you could have anything you asked for. If you are just coming to sleep and eat, this lodge is prefect, it just hasn't got a bar which would relate to some people that would want to hang around the lodge. I would back to stay. It was a pleasant stay.

"Nice place"

The B&B is located in the outskirts of Southampton but still central enough to reach the city center / Old town in about 20 minutes by foot. The B&B is very well managed and the room was perfect in maintenance and the way it was cleaned. Fredd Wifi that was strong and consistent. Lovely breakfast and the street outside offered no problems in terms of noise. A good night sleep it was. Looking for a nice place to stay in Southampton, this place is to be recommended!

"Decent location, basic accomodation"

The proprietor, Judith, was not the friendliest we've encountered, nor was the facility the cleanest. However, we booked late and this was inexpensive. We survived, but next time we will stay at the Harbour Inn which had a better location and looked fabulous. As to the town, it was delightful. A huge mall, plenty of restaurants, and interesting to meander around while getting our bearings.

Stayed here for the first time. Wasn't disappointed. Only 10 mins walk to centre of Southampton and great if you are visiting the Mayflower Theatre. We had a room at the side. It was quite small but yo be honest it was great and had everything you needed. Shower room was great. Loads of hot water. Breakfast was great to. Cooked as and when ordered so was hot. Service and welcome was brilliant. Very friendly and would gladly stay again.

Best service clean rooms great breakfast would definitely recommend there are plenty of restuarants in this area and ample parking you are very close to the city center and the west quay which is one of the biggest indoor shopping mall on the south coast and the you got ocean village where there is a big port with big ships and liners comming in and out of the docks

"Welcoming and convenient"

Picked this guesthouse for its convenient location, and not disappointed. Room at the front of the house was quite small but very comfortable. Nice en-suite shower room. Very clean and tidy throughout and very friendly staff. My only moan was the noise from the road outside, very busy during the early evening and quite noticeable. However, much quieter during the night. Nice breakfasts. More than adequate for our purpose.

"Good value, warm welcome, super location"

I've stayed here a couple of times now. Both times with my wife for a show at Mayflower Theatre. We initially went there for location and just the necessities i.e. a bed and a breakfast. However, we went back for a second stay because we were dealt with really well with a lovely warm welcome. There's good choice of breakfast and the facilities and room were working and/or clean. The landlord keeps a low profile but that might be because he does his thing i.e. make a great breakfast. The landlady is really helpful and friendly and appears genuinely interested about your stay without being nosey. The website booking facility doesn't work so we called them direct and got a discount for direct booking so you might try that first. As for location, it's literally 5-6 minutes from the theatre with very popular restaurants on the main drag (book in advance or you will be disappointed). I'm not sure I understand the parking issue. It wasn't an issue for us on either occasion and we road parked both times. There is some on the forecourt and the parking on the road offers two hours and then free after 18.00 until 08.00 in the morning or free all weekend. I guess if you are planning on leaving your car on a side road in any major city you are going to encounter minor difficulties but that's because residents and local business (rightly) need space for their cars too. The doors banging is unavoidable in any hotel or B&B. It's the fire closers on the doors. They are there for a reason and really not that much of a bother. I'm a light sleeper and it didn't bother me either time. Free wifi pretty quick and reliable. In summary, we'll be going back for sure.

"Convenient and Comfortable"

I stayed here last weekend for one night before a Southampton Solent open day. The owner is lovely and she produced an excellent breakfast, with plenty of choice. Our room was a comfortable twin which was clean and where everything we wanted was provided including free wifi and tea/coffee/chocolate making facilities plus sachets in the bathroom. The shower in the bathroom was excellent and, yes, the lights are on a timer but that didn't worry us one bit. The location was excellent for the city centre which we visited on foot.

"Good and Bad"

The owner was lovely. Don't get the front room. The hall light stays on for all hours and is visible under the door. You hear other guests opening and closing the front door until quite late. The bathroom light works on a sensor, but doesn't seem to know you are in the shower, and you end up in the dark, having to open the shower door and trying to get the sensor to turn back on.

"Good stay in Southampton on a Budget"

Whilst attending a cruise conference last week I decided to stay away from the conference hotels, and found this small hotel. A few people stayed here prior to going on a cruise the next day. It is about 10 mins drive down to the various terminals so allow extra time on sailing days for taxis. Whilst I booked a basic single due to availability, my advice would be to book rooms within ensuite as the bathrooms can be down on another floor not just next door so to speak. I have to say the place was very clean and well kept so no issues there. My room was perfectly adequate with wardrobe tv washbasin and a bed , towels and even a hair dryer. Friendly welcome from the owners and a very good breakfast to start the day with good choice of cereals and hot food. If you are looking very reasonably priced accommodation for few days or an overnight prior to a cruise then Argyle could fit the bill One point , on this street there are a lot of small Hotels with limited space for parking so bear that in mind.
