"disappointed at price paid"
disappointed with location and state of hotel for price paid . very little in area ( run down area at that) to get a meal or drink. First night bed mattress so old and uncomfortable I couldn't sleep although they did change it for second night. Breakfast was however very good and staff very pleasant and helpful

"Definitely not what the pictures show"

"Fire doors that bang all night"
Avoid this hotel if you want to get some sleep! I was in a nice room which was clean but had a very old bed with an uncomfortable mattress. This would have been forgiveable given the price if it hadn't been for the ridiculous fire doors - 3 all in the vicinity of my room alone - which banged shut so loudly they woke me up every time and there were people in and out at all times of the night and early morning! According to the receptionist, soft closing doors or mufflers are "not allowed"!!!!!

"Overall, nice place to stay for a weekend."
The hotel all in all is lovely, staff were faultless. Single room was nice & bed was very comfy, bedding & furniture was modern, size & layout was perfect as a single room. Also u get a great lil skylight above bed which was lovely to look at the stars b4 falling asleep .. :) .. Only niggle was bathroom door didn't shut as it was out of line with the frame & door handle was falling off, also toilet seat lid flopped to the side when lifted which put the toilet seat out of line with the pan. Slightly worrying once i'd had several vodkas, it felt like was on some dodgy joke seat. BUT these are minor issues as i was the only one in the room & a closed door is not essential. If it wasn't for these minor points the hotel itself would be a 10/10 for me. Also need to add the buffet breakfast is fab. Whether u wanted a full English or just toast,/cereal the whole breakfast variety was there for you to eat as you please, well lush. Expect to order a taxi when u go anywhere. It was about 10 per taxi to get to the hotel from Lyme Street station & Approx 5 per taxi to get from the hotel to Albert docks & approx 7 per taxi to get from Albert docks to the hotel. We felt it was just a lil bit too far to walk, as we did 4 journeys to & from hotel one day (hotel to docks to sight see, back to hotel to shower & change, back to Mathews street to have a few drinks, back to hotel to sleep). In general though nice hotel & Liverpool is awesome.

"Surprisingly nice place"
For such a cheap price, I didn't expect much but I was really impressed with this place. Nice room, friendly staff, great breakfast, convenient Tesco metro round the corner and just off the main drag into Liverpool

"Good hotel for stay in liverpool"
Good location for city centre. Helpful receptionist. Taxis ito city centre and back reasonable. Clean room and bathroom but a few wear and tear marks. Comfy bed. Excellent breakfast. Would stay again.

This hotel was just right for a friend and I to use for one night whilst attending a wedding in the city. The room was adequate and functional, although a hair dryer in the room would been am improvement, and the smell of bleach was at first overwhelming. The service was fine and the breakfast the next morning consisted of a vast choice to meet most peoples preference. We would definitely stay there again, as it was good value for money too.

"1 Night"
We just needed a bed for the night whilst we picked up our son from his last year digs at University. You are left to your own devices, which was ok. The bedroom was spotless apart trom a dead fly found in the seal of the inroom fridge! Toilet and shower smsll, but clean and complete. The bed was not as comfortable as we would have liked. Breakfast was self service but lots of it. Overall, we would have rated it 4 overall if tge bed had been more comfortable.

An average hotel at above average prices. Good breakfast, but room was very 'tired'. Light bulbs missing in room, bedside table light didn't work. Our room was on third floor, with difficult stairs to climb from 2nd to 3rd floor.

"Appalling don't stay here"
Dreadful place to stay, pictures of the rooms are a joke as no way do the reflect the conditions of the room. Our room was bare basic, no working shower which we found put in the morning, no phone to report to it to reception, wall lights not all working and torn off cords. Manager told us when we were at breakfast that the shower had been fixed.......too late as we were packed and ready to get out of the dump! Breakfast was diabolical, no fresh coffee as it's out of a machine, gross. The manager dealt with our complaint politely however the other reception staff (male) were extremely rude and unpleasant, and had a foreign accent stating "so what" when we complained. The manager refunded half the cost which to be honest was least he could do, but that was in cash and not back onto my debit card. I've stayed in lots of hotels around the UK & World, and can honestly say this was the worst experience ever. NEVER AGAIN, I'd rather sleep on a park bench!

"GREAT BREAKFAST"
THE ONLY THING I CAN COMPLAIN ABOUT IS THAT IN THE BAR, I WAS CHARGED £3.10 FOR A PINT OF LAGER, BUT £3.45 FOR A LAGER WITH A LEMONADE TOP! HOWEVER THE BREAKFAST NEXT MORNING WAS AWESOME.

Very nice room and excellent breakfast. Easy access to town however it is 3-5 minutes by car. When came back after a dinner, we had no parking spaces behind the gates and had to park on the road. Overall, very satisfied customers

"Very friendly hotel"
We stayed for 2 nights, when we arrived we were treated by very friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble, our room was very comfortable, the buffet breakfast was excellent. We would definitely stay there again when visiting Liverpool. The reception even arranged taxi's for us, reception was open 24 hours, bar prices was very reasonable.

"Will stay again"
The hotel is in a very good location and is in close proximity to the city centre. We walked to the centre and it took around 20 minutes. The hotel was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly and polite. The breakfast was served buffet style and was tasty with plenty of choice of food and drinks! My only complaint was the price I paid through expedia (£50) and the actual price of the room when booking with hotel directly (£37.50)! Will be staying again when we visit Liverpool in March!

We liked this hotel. We have stayed here previously. The staff are friendly. However, the receptionist told us that our room was on the first floor and we could not find it. It was on the second floor, we finally found it behind another door tucked away... quite strange.

We found this hotel ok but was disappointed by the room and shower. The shower was too small could hardly move, and the wardrobe was dated and very wobbley, and also there were electric extension cables hanging from the sockets.

Fine for a medium price hotel. Very clean and warm. Velux windows without blinds in our attic room might have been a problem in summer - great choice of food for breakfast - some items healthier than others!

"2 nights for a family event"
The hotel is a series of converted houses, with separate entrances and stairs, and the room layouts are irregular. No baths in any room. The shower door in ours was broken. Parking is very limited and awkward, I had to park on the street. Cable TV but no BBC. The breakfast and restaurant were fine however.

A pretty good old hotel; the rooms are small and a bit cramped, but a nice atmosphere. The car parking is no good for large cars, but the location and proximity to the city is excellent. The bar is nice and the breakfasts are exceptionally good.

Nothing in the area and apparently it's not the best at night but we saw no problems. We took taxis in and out to centre of city - 10/15 mins and cost around £4. Hotel a little dated but clean and comfortable. Small well stocked bar and nice room with tv and sky sports etc. Modern dining room with very good breakfast buffet. Bathroom was tiny but functional. I would stay here again if in Liverpool.We travelled there for Anfield and it was easy to get to from the Beech Mount

"Lots of potential"
This hotel is going down hill... this was our 2nd or 3rd stay but the hotel need some work done... we had problems with shower, everything is looking dated... and whilst the hotel has lots of positives... i.e. good breakfast, free parking, free internet, good location etc I am going to find it had to convince the wife to stay here again because of the other factors so on our next visit to Liverpool we will probably have to find another hotel...

Room hot, even once discovered how to open attic Window with noisy fan, did not help sleeping. No real place to put suitcases. Towel shelving would be better placed next to soar as toilet paper becomes damp with towels Hanging over it.
