This hotel was in a perfect location right at a bus stop. The room was a bit small for American standards (no place to do yoga) but it was comfy. I stayed for a week and the staff was always cleaning the building. It was such a nice environment! The food was really good and the chef was always around.

My girlfriend and I stayed for a few days while visiting friends and family and were very pleased. The "hotel" is a brand new apartment complex with a small reception just inside the entrance. Rooms were big, bright and well appointed. Location is fantastic, right next to the Arndale Centre. The only complaint about the entire place was that the sofa-bed wasn't the comfiest. Will definitely stay here again!

Overall our stay was great, the room was comfortable and the staff very helpful, The only downsides for me - I wish the bar area food had not been quite so expensive (over 60 pounds for a burger, baked potato, childrens meal and 2 drinks) also when we checked in around 4pm we requested a cot for our daughter, we had to call back twice before it finally arrived around 7:30.

The stay was very good indeed. My one complaint is that the breakfast coffee was terrrible. Why do hotels do this it takes so much from all th other good things, such as great staff, lovely room and great location.

"Great place to stay in the hills"

"Great Base for the Peak District"
Stayed in November for mountain bike base in the peaks - is a 30 min drive ish to Hope etc but we prefer to be nearer Macclesfield as there is a pub over there we like to visit - booked the Stanley room as we have a lot of gear and the xtra space was useful. Room/bathroom was clean, bed was comfortable. Food in the pub was very good - large portions […] - nice english breakfast - great before/after a day biking/walking. An excellent short break; the pub has obviously struggled with the economic climate and indifferent winter weather in the past couple of years. "Quiet. Good beer and food."
Basic pub/inn but in a lovely location out in the wild. Quiet and good food and real ale in the pub. Only issues were no Vodaphone mobile service due to it being 'in the middle of nowhere' and no breakfast offered until 8AM at the earliest. I would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ideal for a relaxing break"
We needed a place not too far from home where we could escape for a couple of days (didn't want to waste too much time travelling). The Stanley Arms was a good choice with its friendly and welcoming atmosphere (especially the dog), excellen meals and comfortable room. Everything seemed to be catered for. "Great food and friendly Service"
As always, a warm welcome awaitied me at The Stanley Arms. It had been a while since I had stayed previously, but I was welcomed as an old friend. The rooms now have a freeview box and telephone, which is a great bonus as mobile phone reception in the area is poor (Which is a sometimes a bonus when away on business - at least you get the evening in […] peace). "Cosy, high quality B&B"
Had a great stay in the Stanley Arms. We used it as a meeting point for two old friends who live either side of the Peak District and stayed in the Torgate (twin) room. Very pleasant and comfortable except for the fact that the window is small and high up (converted barn) so we couldn't enjoy the great views. Everything you could need in the room - […] toiletries were a nice touch, as were the sherry and chocs! Food in the restaurant was excellent and breakfast which was similarly yummy. The bar is lovely and cosy - we loved the open fires. Staff were very friendly (including the dog, George!). Very handy for Buxton or for local walks. We hope to be back with our husbands! A fantastic small hotel in a great location. There are several local walks and a great base for Peak District walking generally. The Hotel has very friendly staff, and excellent food with an amazing menu (I struggled to chose as all the items sounded so good). This is not your average B&B. No, a hundred times no. Here you have high quality hospitality, in well furnished, super-comfortable accommodation, provided by very professional and kind hosts. Good, coordinated fixtures (not cheap), well thought out, excellent bedding, powerful shower, toiletries provided, cooked breakfast (good bacon - none of that […] fatty stuff, excellent mushrooms, juicy sausages, hmmm yum) all there. I loved the place, and was impressed with the service. If you want a good night's rest, in quiet surroundings, an excellent bar, top hospitality, and a sumptuous breakfast, then you cannot possibly look anywhere else, as there is just no other competition. "The Stanley Arms - B&B"
Arrived on a Tuesday after a long journey. No welcome from the one person in the bar who turned out to be the co-owner. Person behind the bar also gave no welcome and disappeared (to get the visitors' book but they didn't speak). Room was small - I struggle to agree that a four foot bed is a 'double'. Room was superficially clean. Television was terrestrial, […] had a poor signal and appeared to be faulty. Asked for a room with a larger bed but was told that they were all the same size. Explained that the TV didn't appear to be working properly and was told by the co-owner that he'd look into it. The dust around it didn't move and the picture didn't improve, so I don't believe he did. Shower was ok. Hung towels to dry and went out. Room was made up while we were out all day. Towels however had been folded up and put back into original positions, still soaking wet, as we discovered when we went to use them the next morning. Breakfast was choice of a handful of small-box cereals, fresh melon and toast/tea/coffee plus cooked breakfast to order. Didn't try the cooked stuff as was unsure how clean the kitchen was & a large dog appeared to have the run of the place. Wir waren hier zwei Tage, und fühlten uns sehr wohl. Das von uns gebuchte Zimmer ist eher etwas zu klein geraten,aber dafür hatten wir eine ausgezeichnete kompfortable Matratzesowie voralem eine gute Heizung und Badraum.
