this place looked great on the outside & the rooms are wonderful but the pool area was what we were looking forward to & it needed to be remodeled Indefinitely. the Jacuzzi tiles were missing so the edges were quite rough. not happy with the pool area & there were no towels even after asking the front desk for some.

They moved us to a badly smelling smoking room because the non-smoking room we had requested was not available. When we checked in they offered to run a fogger to help the smell, but it did nothing to help. The carpet was disgusting. The windows don't open, so we couldn't even air the place out. I was very disappointed with the overall condition of the hotel. It looked very new from the freeway and that is why I selected it over other options. But once inside, it smelled heavily of cigeratte smoke, the carpet was stained, my room did not look as if it had been cleaned - there was still water in the tub, the towels were stiff and felt like they […] were used and had just been re-folded, the pillows said soft and firm but there was not difference , the bedskirt was stained and crumpled. I did not find clean and neat and at the standards of most of the Holiday Inn Expresses that I have stayed at. I requested clean towels and pillow cases - which were politely given to me and an offer to change rooms was made - but I did not feel another room would be that much better at that time. This was our first time to stay at a Holiday Inn Express. When I asked about a discount rate for military disabled veteran, AARP, or AAA, I was told no that they did not do that. We asked for a non smoking room and the hallway smelled terrible from smoke, which also filtered into the room. Locating the hotel was the most *frustrating* part of getting to stay there! The published address for the hotel is advertised as "7552 Park Place Road in Rockford, IL", unfortunately the GPS doesn't know where that is......After calling the hotel, the real address is "7552 Rock Valley Pkwy in Loves Park, IL". Disappointed that hotels.com didn't even […] have that clarified anywhere or just list both addresses on confirmation email.... As for inside the hotel - the refrigerator in the room wasn't turned on and ready for use. I assumed maybe this was to help save energy costs, so we turned it on to the max. After getting back from dinner, it felt cooler and in our leftovers went. Unfortunately, in the morning we discovered that it stopped cooling and our food was warm and spoiled.......The pool was super chlorinated but good - the supply of towels at the pool was empty and the front desk said they would bring more. When the lady came, she only had 8-10 towels with her to put on the shelf - really???! She didn't come back to add more in the next hour that we were there. Overall the stay was comfortable and fine. A great place to stay with a super breakfast buffet! HOWEVER, be sure to ask to NOT be placed next to a 'hot tub room' (there's only 4 in the hotel).....apparently our neighbors really enjoyed their hot tub all night and each time it went on the noise woke us and reminded us of Niagra Falls.....the hotel did graciously give us a nights worth of points […] on our priority card to make up for our semi-sleepless night. The hotel was nice and the front desk workers were pleasant and accommodating. But, the hotel only has one extremely slow elevator and the suites was very small. For the price, I expected a more spacious room.

Hotel was new and clean--and we were happy with the service (though we did not make any special requests of the staff...). Location was OK for our purposes, however the property is a bit removed from the "metro" area, so I would recommend that ppl make sure they're OK with accessing restaurants, bars, etc. via car/cab before they make a reservation […] (although I believe the hotel offers a shuttle as well...) The bed sheet on our bed had some dried brownish streaks on it. I called the front desk, and was told that he was the only person in the hotel. There is no available staff on a Saturday night. I was told I could be given a clean sheet to put on my own bed. What were my options? As I went to make the bed, I noticed there were some dried brown stains […] that looked like blood on the comforter. The stains were rather large too. I called the front desk again, and this time was told he was gonna call the manager and get back to me. He did so, but his options were to bring more clean blankets and sheets so that I could make my bed, or to give me another room. Now, I don't hold the front desk guy responsible, he actually did the best he could. What type of hotel runs the weekend without any staff? Just a disgusting hotel. We found the front desk friendly and the check in and out was quick. The over-all hotel was clean, as well as our room. We loved the concept of using three sheets on the bed, having the vanity outside the bathroom so two people can get ready at once, and that our room had a nice size TV, microwave, and frig. This motel may be a little out of the way but after staying in all the other surrounding motels, this is the best one for value and quality. We enjoyed the breakfast; it was fantastic. The manager needs to be congratulated for such a fine job. Ther pool and spa were maticulously maintained.

Our only complaint with the hotel was the pool. It was a nice facility, but there was such a strong chlorine smell that our eyes were burning. Our room was great, the breakfast was good and the hotel was nice looking.

We stayed on a monday and left Tuesday morning. Everything was what we expected fom a Holiday Inn Express. Nice Lobby, Great breakfast area, clean and comfortable room. Customer service was fine. My GPS didn't pick up the location due to it being a new hotel, but my Iphone found it just fine. Great Hotel.

We ran away for the weekend, my wife and I. Were very pleased with this selection. We actually struggled to find something wrong! (We finally did, the whirlpool needs a little scrubbing at the waterline, a bit scummy.) So give it a 4.995 for that.
