Nice hotel in good a location if you want to be by the train station, however, its quite worn down. It is sort of has that flash back feel to a grander day. You can imagine that the hotel used to be quite elegant but now it is more or less a decent place to stay for those on a budget.

Nice hotel, built in 1905 but well kept. Room was on a fifth floor, it was clean and huge. Hotel is located right at the train station and a short walk to restorants and old part of the city. Highly recommended.

This grand old hotel was convenient for arrival by train as it is right next to the Lyon Perrache train station which is also the Perrache subway stop. The lobby and breakfast rooms are gorgeous. Hotel is a former Chateaux, easy to find right next to the train station, check in effortless and the service throughout our stay excellent. Large room, elevator that works, air conditioning. We did not eat in the hotel but walked to neighborhood restaurants and joined the locals. We would stay there again.

While the parking garage is in the hotel basement the lack of a lift into the hotel is a bit of a pain. I think the hotel is due for a bit of a refresh. Well situated if a bit complicated road network when arriving/leaving.

We stayed in this hotel during fete des lumiers. The location is central- around 20 min walking to the old town but the hotel itself is not in a nice area. Attached to one of the main train stations in Lyon the only entrance of the hotel is reachable only by passing through the train station, where as in every train station an odd folk is to be found, […] specially in the evening hours. Might be suitable for business travelers who need to be connected to the airport or need to be close to the train station but i would not recommend this hotel for leisure. This hotel is quite old, but not run down. The reception area is in need of a facelift to bring it back to its former glory. The hotel room itself was lovely and was renovated to its original art deco style while adding modern amenities. The room size was perfect and the bathroom was great. The hotel was very convenient to all types of transport which made getting into and out of the city centre very easy. The immediate area around the hotel is typical of an area with a large transport hub. Because we used the metro we did not tend to walk in the immediate area. We had a beautiful dinner in the dining room on one of the two nights we stayed in the hotel. The service was fantastic. Room was very clean and huge for a standard room. It made it easy to travel with a 9 month old as they provided a crib, linens, and a baby package with creams, towels, etc. The baby also had a lot of room to crawl around. The Grand Hotel Mercure in Lyon is beautiful inside but please be wary about booking it. It took us over an hour to locate the hotel within Lyon's nightmare 1-way system. The receptionist was very French about it all and said 'it is easy' to find the hotel. No, it is not! We were not the only guests that took this long to find it.
