We loved the Inn and our room. We were greeted promptly by our hostess and shown our room and the shared amenities of the Inn. We found the room clean and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and the towels were fluffy and nice. The room was quiet. We liked being within walking distance of town and the Convention Center where we attended the […] Jazz Festival. "My favorite place to stay in Seaside"
Always enjoy staying at the Gilbert Inn. Management is helpful and pleasant, rooms are clean and cheerful...my home away from home!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cozy, welcoming alternative to big box hotels"
We were in Seaside for a conference and wanted something more relaxed and homey than a regular hotel room. Gilbert Inn was it! We loved this beautiful 1892 home converted to an inn. Interesting building, friendly inn-keeper, fresh cookies!Genuine Expedia guest review
It was a lovely Victorian Inn and we loved every minute of it. It was like going back in time and being pampered at the same time. We will definitely go back. The area is nice too. Not as commercialized as Canon Beach.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A hidden gem!"
We had a room that was totally secluded from the remaining rooms. Was surprised to see there were two twin beds in addition to the queen bed. Next time we'll bring friends! Everything was so clean. The decor was perfect for the era of the inn. Maria, the host, was very warm. She made us feel welcome. She made the yummiest chocolate chip cookies ever! Couldn't […] believe this place was only a block off the beach. I have been to Seaside many times and had never been down the road the inn was on so I was so surprised by it's location. Perfect for walking thru all the shops on main street and walking on the beach. I'd stay here again. So much better than a hotel! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Delightful in every way!"
Beautiful, historic inn, immaculately kept, lots of little touches that show how much the innkeeper cares, and most importantly the charming innkeeper herself, Maria. Maria gave us a wonderful, warm welcome when we arrived, showed us around the inn and to our quaint room. You truly feel welcome and at home. Additions like the tea station, cookies, lounge […] areas, incredibly fluffy towels, attention to detail with the decor, the adorable mugs and a hundred other little things make for a very special stay. The location was fantastic, just steps from the beach and the main street in town. Great for a romantic getaway. I only wish we had stayed longer. Thanks for your genuine kindness and hospitality Maria! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Seaside OR hotel"
Great accommodations. One block to the beach and one block to Broadway, yet this place is as quiet as a church mouse. We got a good night's sleep (maybe it contributed staying on Sunday night). Maria is a great innkeeper.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cozy hotel in a historic building"
Very welcoming place, beach and restaurants just around the corner.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Lots of Character, Friendly Staff"
We stayed at the Gilbert for only one night; for our second night in Seaside we stayed at one of the big chains... and I really wish that we'd been able to stay another night at the Gilbert. The room was very comfortable and it had all of the charm of a Victorian house. Literally every employee that I saw in the house was friendly and helpful, including […] the manager and the women making up the rooms. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Gilbert at seaside"
It was a very nice bed and breakfast historic home without the breakfast. The staff was very nice and helpful. We plan to go back next year. Highly recommend it for a time at the ocean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very close to the beach and center of the Seaside"
Was the very fist time staying in Seaside, we like the location, the authenticity of the place, and the cleanness of the rooms.Across the street is the timeshare mentioned in other reviews, with quite some talkative folks during the day, but after sunset, they got quite and we have good quite night. Seaside beach is just incredible, looking forward […] coming again, staying more. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Quaint & Cozy"
I loved this place! I stayed in the Gilbert room and it was perfect. i love the feeling of a bedroom loft, in which this was. The little sitting nook with an ocean view was lovely as well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Where's the Innkeeper?"
I really loved this place...quaint, close to the beach and quiet. My only issue was that we were not greeted when we arrived at 8:30PM. The front door was locked so we couldn't get into the building. There was no way to get in touch with anyone even after ringing the door bell 3 times and trying to call the number at the inn. (No answer at the door […] and a voice mail recording when we called). After about 10 minutes, we discovered an envelope with our key inside and instructions on where to find our room, unlocked the front door and went to our room. We never saw anyone that ran the inn the entire time we were there. I would go back, however, hope that the innkeepers would at least acknowledge our presence next time. "Breakfast not included"
Beautiful house, lovely attention to detail with styling and original features, but other than initial welcome there was invisible hospitality which felt rather strange as it felt like a home rather than an Inn , but no one was in.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wishing we could stay longer"
This is a great little place. It is a block away from the beach and the street with all of the local stores which means that you can quickly walk to the beach, to a restaurant, or to a local store without having to have all of the busyness right in your face. You can relax in the very calming setting. My wife and I were wishing we could stay for a few […] more nights! Highly recommend it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
lovely old home, beautiful inside, quite and peaceful. Unfortunately the buildings around it are large hotels and take away from the view- but that is not their fault! They were there first!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My husband is not a fan of "bed and breakfast" places. This place was very personal. (no getting to know your neighbors!) Very comfortable and we love the historical part of this place! "Wonderful historic house (1892)."
The Inn Keeper, Maria, was extremely friendly and welcoming. The "Renee" room was charming. We enjoyed the 'common' areas of the Inn, including the parlor and sunroom.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Quiet, quaint room with beach access"
Stay was comfortable. Nice room that felt more like a guest bedroom than a hotel room. Friendly receptionist. Clean, comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
We stayed two nights and found the hotel to be clean and well run by friendly staff. It's location is near the beach with good restaurants nearby. We would definitely recommend it as an excellent alternative to the cookie cutter motels.Genuine Expedia guest review
old wooden we were concerned no fire escapes poor sound insulationGenuine Expedia guest review
The Gilbert Inn is located right in the middle of Seaside's promenade area and only about 100 steps from the beach. Location is definitely a BIG plus - you can easily park your car and walk to most every place you would want to go. There is a HUGE timeshare condo complex across the street and I could see how it could be loud on a busy weekend, but that […] it probably the case for all of the hotels in this main area. If you read the descriptions on your reservation, you will see that there is no breakfast... So technically it is not a B&B, but it does have the feel of one. The staff is very helpful and welcoming, making you feel comfortable at the inn. The rooms are small (the size of a typical home's bedroom) but they have a private bathroom and there is plenty of space to sleep and relax for a moment in your room (which is all you really need to do in a hotel room at the beach) ... After all you're at the beach to relax on it - rather than in your room! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, easy to find"
Maria welcomed us with a big smile and a tour of this lovely home. She recommended a great restaurant for dinner and a cute cafe for breakfast. Everything is within walking distance - great promenade to walk.Genuine Expedia guest review
Room too small, bed too soft and uncomfortable. Pillows too soft. Clean but lacks there was they did not supply soap and shampoo next day with no one on duty to ask for service. No breakfast or drinking water. As mall bowl of fruit in the snack area and a small plate of cookies left in the shared living area in the evening. The owner admits the guests. […] Customer service is not her strong point. I will not stay there again and will not recommend. Too expensive for what itcis. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
If you have trouble getting into an old fashion tub this is not for you to take a shower. We had a room at rear of house was hot and stuffy had to have fan on all night woke up with aching shoulders and stuffy head had to leave window open and renters in cottages below were very noisey. The house was very victorian and clean no breakfast served you just […] sleep and go. e location is perfect next door to Worldmark right on the promenade.Constructive advise would be to do major landscaping to represent the beauty of the house they have let it so and that makes the place not as desirable to look at outside which should not be the case.If I stayed again I would pick a front room facing the ocean so you can get an ocean breeze because there is no airconditioning. "A great old house & close to everything in Seaside"
We really enjoyed staying in this neat old house. Maria was very nice & took good care of us & answered all of our questions. It did rain every day, but was nice to hear it on the roof at night.Genuine Expedia guest review
The Gilbert Inn represented the 7th night of an 8 night whirlwind tour of the Pacific Northwest. During that time, we stayed in some "average" places as well as a few very nice places. The Gilbert in, however, was not only the nicest place we stayed, but also the 2nd least expensive. What a winning combination! This place had charm oozing out of every […] pore, and was only one block from the beach. If I had three hands, I'd give it three thumbs up! "Gilbert Inn in Seaside, OR"
This was a great little inn in Seaside, OR. It's about a 15 minute drive from Cannon Beach, so just be aware of that when booking. The other issue is that there's no front desk, so if you need anything or get locked out of your room, you should call the innkeeper. She's pretty responsive.Genuine Expedia guest review
My wife n I flew in from Hawaii n wanted something a little different than your usual hotel. My wife had found the Gilbert Inn n we had made two separate bookings n the first night we got there we were met by Maria who gave us the tour n history of this old Victorian home. Our first night we stayed in a beautiful room which was the newer addition to […] the home. And the next night we've stayed in the Gilbert room. A spectacular room with a view. Jus the architecture n design of the house n room itself was amazing. Like we've said it's a different atmosphere than your usual hotel. We highly recommend people staying here n in the Gilbert room. "Perfect Historical Property"
What a fabulous property! Maria provided a very warm welcome and showed us around the inn and to our charming room. We'd love to go back and stay longer next time. "Gilbert Inn - At the Beach in Seaside"
Seaside, frankly, lacks some of the charm of several other OR/WA coastal towns but the Gilbert Inn makes up for it in spades with their cordial welcome and near-perfect lodging. One block from the beach and the Seaside "Prom." Walking distance to nearby restaurants, taffy shops and watering holes - could you possibly ask for more?Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Secret romance in the heart of Seaside"
It was a great pleasure to experience Seaside from the heart of its origins. The host, Maria, was friendly and attentive, and offered us fresh baked cookies. We spent a cozy hour in front of the fireplace reading in the evening. If you like quiet, history, romance and comfort, this is your place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A beautiful Victorian"
A nicely restored and maintained Victorian with an added sun porch and a fireplace downstairs in the sitting room (great in Oregon Coast weather). Original Douglas Fir paneling adds a nice regional touch. Near the beach and restaurants, but no breakfast served. Room a bit small, but great for couples.Genuine Expedia guest review
