"A perfect little inn!"
Great experience at the Gilbert Inn. It's is a cute, cozy inn walking distance from town. Maria, the Inn Keeper, is lovely and made the stay very pleasant. The rooms are adorable and the beds are extremely comfortable. Everything was clean and just so. I'd absolutely recommend this place to anyone staying in the area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect spot to visit Seaside"
The Innkeeper Maria was very frendly and gave us a small tour. The House was great the way it was decorated with all the antiques made it look fantastic. The room was very nice with a comfortable bed. One block to the ocean and easy walking to resturants and shopping. We would definitly recomend staying there.Genuine Expedia guest review
What a great place. The innkeeper keeps everything spotless and was very enthusiastic. My only (very small) complaint would be that because the house is somewhat older, which is part of its charm of course, there is a lot of creaking etc and the walls are somewhat thin. But we had a wonderful stay and will recommend to anyone visiting Seaside!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We enjoyed our stay at the Gilbert Inn. The innkeeper was very friendly and informative about history of the inn. She also was helpful with local restaurant selections and activites in the area. The room was decorated very nicely and was clean. There are also nice common sitting areas in the living room and porches.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"perfect place for personal reflection time!"
We were warmly greeted an amazing Innkeeper named Maria. She was so pleasant and treated us like long lost family~~I'm sure she has shared the history of the Gilbert Inn many times, but she shared it again with enthusiasm. The coffee is wonderful, the cookies are delicious! It would make a perfect bed and BREAKFAST, but then the rates would go up. We […] loved the Renee room! and will return again.☺ Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"I want to keep this place a secret!"
Beyond expectations. Maria met us at the door, gave a tour of the Inn, answered all questions. everything about our stay was excellent! Thanks!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfort at Seaside"
Beautiful and historic. Great location. Walking distance to the Ocean, restaurants, and shops. Felt right at home. Maria was there to greet me and show me my room. Loved the feel of the whole house. Would recommend to all my friends and family. Nothing negative to say at all.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Old fashioned romance near the beach!"
A beautiful 120 year old home right near the beach! Very clean rooms within walking distance of the beach, restaraunts and tourist attractions.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Inn itself is great. Sitting next to the parking garage is inconvenient. Very noisy all night long. Every time a car comes out of the garage a bell goes off for the pedestrians and the guests get to hear it too. We had to shut our window for peace and quiet when a cool breeze would have been nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Home away from home"
We really enjoyed our one night stay. We especially appreciated our host, Maria's warm welcome and delicious fresh baked cookies. We also really liked the fresh fruit and good coffee. We loved the decorative interior with hard wood floors, luxiourous fabric, and cozy fireplace. We liked that our stay was peaceful and quiet and easy walking distance […] to the beach and restaurants. We greatly enjoyed a dinner and breakfast at Maggie's Cafe, which is a short walk away. Also, parking was ample and easy. We would stay here again and will recommend this to our friends. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice little Inn"
When we got here I didn't know there was a check in time window, so we were late getting in. But, the Inn keeper was very helpful and left me a message since I didn't hear my phone ring. She told me everything was fine and gave me careful instructions on how to get our keys, so we can stay there for the night. The room we stayed in was very cozy, very […] comfortable, and has a homey feeling! Even though there was a huge event being held at the beach, we both slept straight through the night. "The place to stay in Seaside"
The Inn is beautiful both inside and out. It is obviously a labor of love restoring this 1892 home. The location is a block away from the ocean and in walking distance of most services and restaurants. We will definately stay there again in the future.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Happy, Relaxing Time"
Our experience was wonderful, we will definitely visit again. The staff was friendly, the rooms clean and quaint, and the house was very enjoyable to spend time relaxing. The Innkeeper Maria made you feel welcome and is willing to sit and chat, like your a old friend. =)Genuine Expedia guest review

The Gilbert Inn had historic charm and comfortable rooms. Fresh baked cookies every afternoon were a bonus! If you cannot handle stairs, you might want to stay somewhere else. Otherwise, I think the Gilbert Inn is the best experience in Seaside.Genuine Expedia guest review
Fabulous spot to stay in Seaside. Quite and peaceful.Genuine Expedia guest review
Would definitely stay here again. Quaint, convenient, clean, quiet, friendly staff, accommodating. Great location in relation to sights and points of interest. Can't beat the sunsets! Just wish they offered breakfast, but plenty of local restaurants that do.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"We were celebrating our 23rd Anniversary."
The original room we had reserved was upstairs.I didn't consider that when I made the reservation (I can't do stairs) & Maria, the Hostess, had a cancellaton and let us have a room downstairs..it turned out perfect for us. Maria is such a beautiful, bubbly person & she made us feel right at home. We enjoyed our stay very much. The Inn was circa 1892 […] and each of the rooms are done in Period Themes.Beautifully done. We would recommend the Gilbert Inn, and we plan to visit there again. It was really neat and immaculately clean. It is located just a block from Broadway..where most of the action is going on.Close to eating places galore. The Inn supplies coffee, tea, fruit, cookies & the normal ameneties. "Step back in time"
We stayed in the Alexander room and both enjoyed the claw footed tub and simply relaxing experience. We dined at the Twisted Fish for Valentines Day and shared a quaint romantic evening we both still cherish and think back on often. "Lovely Victorian inn in Seaside, Or"
The Gilbert Inn is a lovely Victorian house surrounded by a less lovely commercial neighborhood in Seaside, OR. "Gilbert Inn a great unique and historic property"
My wife and I booked the Gilbert Inn on for a romantic getaway and were very pleased with the stay. The house is an amazing save from the 1800s and the parlor rooms have many period and original furnishings. The guest room we had was nicely remodled and decorated but not of period finishings. The guestroom and attached bathroom was a bit tight though […] very comfortable and quiet. This is NOT a good place for kids to come. The house has free parking on the north side and ia about 1/2 block from the beach promenade. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"No disclosure = disinformation"
Both Expedia and the Hotel site do not indicate that this hotel has rooms spread across 3 levels : there is no elevator ! To reach the upper level you have to negotiate 36 Very Steep , Very narrow Steps, with your luggage! If you are older or have any knee problems, you are out of luck ! There is no small refrigerator in your own room ! If you need […] to keep any medication refrigerated you are advised to use the common refrigerator , from downstairs, which is unlocked. Not good ( 36 steps ! )! So, before booking make sure you can access your room and if you need to refrigerate medications, make alternative arrangements ( your own cool box ) if you cannot find an alternative lodging and you must stay there . "Gilbert Inn - A bit of home at the beach"
We were in Seaside for a quick one-night visit. The owner was extremely welcoming and is clearly proud of the Inn and its history. Very comfortable and terrific location. A very short walk to a very nice beach. WiFi works very well. Off-street parking is very convenient. I would not hesitate to rebook. I wished we could have stayed longer.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Place to Stay"
We had a great time in Seaside. Gilbert Inn was no small part of that. The location is fantastic. It's in an historic, romantic home. The hostess was fabulous. We loved the clawfoot tub. We almost extended our stay just to enjoy things a little longer.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Would definitely go back"
Greeted warmly on arrival by owner who explained the history of the Inn. Walking distance to beach and shops. A lovely old Inn that has antique furniture, a lovely sitting room and tea/coffee making facilities in sun room. The only down is that they were building a new hotel complex nearby. They operated from 8.00 a.m. till 4.00 p.m. Overall would thoroughly […] recommend for the over 50's. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very special place"
Spent my husband's 65th birthday at this wonderful inn. We stayed in the garret room which has a view of the ocean. The bed was very comfortable, the room was so clean and bright, and our hostess couldn't have been nicer. We enjoyed the daily homemade cookies and the "surprise" bottle of champagne delivered to our room on his birthday. "Great escape destination"
The Gilbert Inn may have lost some of the view of the ocean due to high rise condos built around it but it still has the charm of the Victorian home that it is. Built in 1892 and furnished with some of the original furniture, Persian rugs, and family photos, the charm is undeniable. The hostess was wonderful, gracious, and very knowledgeable about the […] home itself and the community of Seaside. I hope to stay there again someday and highly recommend it to anyone wanting a simple and romantic getaway destination. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Gilbert Inn in Seaside"
We enjoyed our room in this lovely restored home. The only drawbacks were steep narrow steps to reach the room and noise from the construction on the large resort across the street. It would have been impossible to sleep after 8am or whenever the work began each day.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Gilbert Inn - historic mansion stay"
This was a delightful place to stay. The mansion is gorgeous and extremely well kept. The owner greeted us with a brief tour and made us feel very welcome. The bed was very comfortable. We wished we had planned a longer stay! No view of the beach but it is near.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect and different from the rest"
This isn't your basic beach hotel with cold floors and no charm. This is a lovely, romantic old home full of charm. The property is lovingly maintained and is within steps of the beach. It was super convenient to Astoria, Seaside and Cannon Beach. The Innkeeper was wonderful!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rose amongst the Thorns"
We had 3 nights at the Gilbert Inn. The Inn was lovely, our room was very comfortable and clean. There was no breakfast and the tea making facilities lacked fresh milk. However, the Inn is very close to the beach and had easy parking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Beautiful old house, well cared for and well maintained. It was quite noisy with parking lot gates beeping late into the night and early in the morning, but other than these things that are out of Jason and Maria's control, the Gilbert was the perfect place for my sister and I to stay whilst visiting Seaside.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A quaint home away from home"
The innkeeper, Maria, made us feel like we had been friends for years. We stayed in the 1880 Room...so comfortable! The decor for the whole inn is tasteful and fitting to the architecture of the building. Location can't be beat...one block to the promenade and beach, another block to the main street. We highly recommend the Gilbert Inn.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The Inn is Not What You Expect"
We abandoned our room after one sleepless night, giving up our prepaid second night, to get away from the street noise, sirens, firecrackers and street hooligans. The room rate is simply an overcharge for a very low quality service. The inn is surrounded by high rise condos whose occupants chose to sit on their balconies and yell at each other until […] 3 am. It was July 3rd.Located one block from the ocean and two blocks to downtown, we expected more. The 10 foot square Daniel room had a three piece bath, a queen bed, one chair and a 13 inch TV. We kept both windows partly open for air. The owner could not protect our off street parking posts for July 4th and I did not wish to leave our car somewhere else while the July 4th fireworks display went off. No breakfast is provided, but there is coffee in the room. Expedia had taken payment a week before our arrival, much to my dismay, leaving us no way to negotiate our abandonment of the place. Buyer beware. Completely overpriced for a terrible experience, no sleep, hooligans, noise and sirens. Avoid this inn. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The Gilbert Inn - a gem"
The Gilbert Inn is a gem. It's welcoming and charming, as is the innkeeper. It's location is superb, across the street from the beach and promenade, and a block from the main street of restaurants and shops. "Great Seaside Location"
This is a wonderful old inn right in the heart of Seaside. It's steps to the beach and to local restaurants and shops. Marie was very welcoming and there were chocolate chip cookies awaiting us upon our arrival. The Garrett room was a wonderful place for a girls getaway. I look forward to a return visit when the weath is more pleasant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This century old building has been lovingly restored by the owner and innkeeper. The innkeeper greeted us personally and introduced us to the building and its history, some of which came from her personal recollections as a guest in the home some time ago. Upon request, she gave us a restaurant recommendation to Maggies which had an excellent location […] fronting the beach and food and wine to match at a modest price for the quality and location. My wife and I had booked late and we had the smallest room. It was more than adequate in size and the furnishings were well chosen to match the era of the home. For those of you from Ontario, it reminded me of a very fine old Muskoka cottage home (the millions of $ kind). The washroom was private, large and completely updated. The former living room, dining room and sunroom have been well furnished and many interesting old items have been left to introduce you to the early heyday of Seaside. These areas are available for all of the guests (only 6 rooms, I think) to sit in and enjoy. The air conditioning comes from the sea breezes only and even In August was fine. A small boutique hotel to be highly recommended. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
