The Double Tree is an easy 15 minute stroll from Aberdeen's city center and just 2 minutes from the fantastic beach and boardwalk. The indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steamroom are a nice bonus. However, there was no free wifi anywhere in the hotel. We were given a password for the wifi in the lobby but were never able to connect in the 5 days we were […] there! Luckily plenty of pubs in town had free wifi that actually worked. Also the toilet was really temperamental! It took about 4 or 5 attempts to flush (even when empty). Got really annoying! Read more

This hotel is currently undergoing a major room renovation. I was put into one of the old rooms, not yet redone. It was very worn and outdated. The cost per night was rediculous for a room in this condition.The staff was great, always very helpful.

Wi fi poor to nonexistent in our room, which was in a conference center setting. Couldn't get a face cloth from staff for some reason. But, fridge was loaded with free goodies and the restaraunt was excellent.

I was very disappointed in this hotel, especially since it is now a Hilton. The first room I was given was so dark with bad lighting that I requested another room. The second room was basically no better. There were only 2 very small lights in the bathroom which were very inadequate. There was only a tiny light in the hallway by the closet & the lighting […] in the bedroom was exceptionally poor. To compound this, there was only a block out drape over the window with no sheer curtain beneath it - so if you opened the drape to get light you had no privacy, as both the rooms I had faced the parking lot & people coming & going from their cars could look directly into your room, which meant the drape needed to be closed anytime you were in the room. When you closed the drapes they did not over-lap or even meet, so light could come through in the morning hours & if you know Aberdeen in the summer, then you know it is light past midnight & the sun is coming up around 5am - hence hard to sleep. There was no electrical outlet on the desk for charging phones, etc. The only outlet was at floor level under the desk which meant you had to crawl under the desk to plug something in! There was a nice sized bathtub, but had mold around the caulking. Overall I was very disappointed with this hotel & shocked that it is in the Hilton chain. I travel a lot in the U.S. & Europe & have never encountered a hotel with such poor lighting. Read more

The hotel, room and gym were all very nice. The gym was huge with a lot of equipment; very nice and unexpected. Both of us used the gym and pool. The room had a skylight which was very nice and the room and bathroom were spacious. The breakfast was excellent!

We were made welcome from the moment we arrived until the moment we checked out. The staff gave us first class customer service at all times and were so pleasant and friendly. Our well equipped Premier room was immaculate – really clean, as was the bathroom. The bed was really comfortable too. Although there is no air-conditioning (this is northern […] Scotland) climate control was no issue – the radiator could be adjusted or the window could be opened. Unlike some hotels, you can open the window really wide if you chose, or it can be adjusted so younger guests cannot climb out. Our room was not facing the main road (we could just see the sea)and it was quiet, even with the window open. The hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the city centre, is on the bus route (service 15), and is a few minute walk from the beach. Having forgot to pack my sports kit, I did not check out the pool and fitness centre. The buffet style breakfast included traditional Scottish fare too... lovely. Perfect for a weekend get away with my 8yr old son, next door to Transition Extreme indoor skatepark and climbing centre and a short walk from the cinema, beach and Cadonas fun park. Our room was well equipped and comfortable but I could see why there were refurbishments happening, which were not an issue either. (No noise or mess from fitters) Bathroom […] and fittings needed a spruce up a bit. Pool, steamroom and sauna were great and open late too. Didn't get to use the gym but that looked like it had plenty of kit to keep you busy! Hot-tub was out of action when we stayed. The ample buffet breakfast was a good start to the day with lots to choose from and friendly and attentive staff. Now for the downside.... no amount of free warm cookies makes up for 3 loud mouthed drunken guests returning to their room at 03:55 after a function downstairs banging on the door to wake their mate to let them in, and for them to then have a go at me for asking them to be quiet was all I needed. Before commencing a 600 mile journey home I need more than 5hrs sleep. The hotel were not the drunken loud youths but they should take responsibility for their guests and not allow them to become so intoxicated, and the ones sleeping do so in peace and quiet. I was informed that "we've had quite a few complaints from guests". Note: maybe check if there is a late function on beforehand? I'm sure it's just a one off, but my drive home was hard work! We have stayed in this hotel a few times, its brilliant for going to the cinema. The rooms could do with a refurbishment, they were far to warm and the bed was solid, so didn't get a good night's sleep. Think I will try another hotel when having a weekend out in Aberdeen.

Excellent location, close to beach and town. Hotel was comfortable, some construction finished while we were there so we benefitted from new lounge and restaurant furniture before we left. Generally OK, rooms what you would expect, there was an issue with the TV that took 2 calls and a visit to the front desk to get fixed. And don't go for breakfast after 9.00 as the dregs of the buffet are left for a while do dry out. Overall, not to bad.

Stayed here Christmas eve to the day after boxing day. Some of the staff clearly did not want to be working over the holiday (and who could blame them?) but kept up a reasonably cheerful appearance. We had 2 rooms and both were very clean and comfortable - with the exception of one side of the double bed! There was the biggest dip in the mattress that […] I have ever seen, or slept in before. Apart from this the rooms were very nice and well equipped. The breakfast was excellent, a self service buffet with plenty of hot and cold choices. We did not eat any other meals at the hotel but did visit the bar on Christmas day and were served by a very friendly bar man - the drinks and ambiance were also good. We were a bit disappointed that the Gym and Pool were operating much reduced hours during our stay, my eldest son managed to use the Gym once and said it was good. The hotel is in a good location - sea views from our rooms and lots of open space, while still being only a 10 minute walk from the center of Aberdeen. Free parking is also a bonus these days! We have used this hotel many times as it allows us to take our West Highland White Terrier -Connor...we don't go many places without him! It's clean, bright and fresh...a newer Hilton than most. it is the first time i have stayed at this hotel. i must say that it was ok but the bathroom needs upgrading and the shower was not very good. Check out was horrendous and the wait to be seen was all too long a process. i would suggest a express checkout facility would have been so much better than 25 people waiting to check out.

Think you need to consider managing the behaviours of foreign employees specifically in Platinim bar. Do think that the bar should remain open until at least 11.30 and not 10pm. I booked this hotel with 3 friends in two rooms for the night. we booked the restuarant for dinner and asked for some vinegar for fish and chips. they brought this to us in a large gravy boat which was a surprise tos start with. after the main course the waiter who claim to clear the plates lifted the gravy boat and spilled all of the vinegar onto one […] of my friends. Within walking distance to beach front, amusements, restaurants and shopping complex. The Doubletree by Hilton was really nice with helpfull friendly staff. The room was clean, warm and a comfortable bed. Good selection for breakfast. Would highly recommend and I'm looking forward to a return visit soon.

This is a tired hotel with few frills. While the rooms are large they are dated in an 80's style. Room ventilation is poor with only a restrained window opening for fresh air. However, the staff were most helpful with Aberdeen's dreadful taxi service. The breakfast was excellent. Hilton could make this an excellent hotel with a little makeover.

we have booked 3 double rooms,and none of them has a "window" that you can open, and overlooking the view of a bar area of the hotel, so the room can be quite stuffy. And Sunday night, there was a very loud music comes from somewhere of the hotel, as the room is not sound proofed, you can hear it very clearly and it went on for few hours, so please […] be prepare for this. Most of the hotel staff are friendly except from one staff from the coffee bar, since there are 2 tables with coffee and tea and some mugs near the entrance of the hotel, and there is no signs to say this coffee is not for the Hotel guest. We thought it was a complimentary for the hotel guest, so we filled a cup of coffee from the thermos, but just about to drink, that staff came and said in a not so nice way that the coffee is only for the conference people, and we did suggest him to put a sign as within 5 mintues we were sitting there, there are 4 people made a mistake like us took the coffee, and everytime he appeared right after people filled the cup, and even(which I found quite shocking) telling a guest rudely:"there is no free thing in this hotel!!". I really feel sad for DoubleTree Hilton Aberdeen, how much it cost for a cup of coffee, and how much it it cost for losing the friendly image of DoubleTree Hilton??
