Excellent hotel in the heart of downtown Santiago with excellent service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The bed was very comfy, especially the pillows. The air conditioner did not work. Only the room heater. We finally turned off the heating/air system and opened the windows. Grateful that we could do that. Getting ice was delayed somewhat. Very helpful in obtaining our boarding passes. It was a lovely stay for 3 days in Santiago.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Very comfortable at great price"
I recently stayed at the hotel for 5 nights. The room was large and well appointed. I thought the bed was particularly comfortable. terrific sheets and wonderful down pillows, lot of them. the location is perfect for someone going for business as it is in the middle of everything. I also discovered that the best Sushi restaurant in Santiago is in the […] hotel. Do not miss it- beautiful and delicious. A couple of tricks. they charge $10 per day for internet, but if you become a member of their club, for free, it is free. good deal. the gym is perfectly adequate as well. My one complaint is that in the restaurant they only serve a $30 breakfast buffet. they should offer a regular breakfast menu as well to accommodate lighter eaters. Bu all in all, first rate. Response by InterContinental Santiago Dear guest Thank you for taking your valuable time to comment about your stay. We appreciate your kind words about our comfortable rooms, location and the restaurant. Your opinion and idea of having a normal breakfast instead of a buffet will be fowarded to the staff of the restaurants. We thank you for staying in our hotel, and we hope to see you soon. "Outdated rooms, bathrooms and beds."
The lobby of the hotel is impressive and the front desk folks are ok, they also have a nice restaurant which is pricey--all this is completely different from the rooms. The furniture in the rooms are old; the beds are at least 10 years old and sagging--very unconfortable; the bathrooms are also very old and has not been updated for many years; the towels […] available in the bathrooms are beyond its life. Having said that, the house keepers do a good job keeping the place clean. The issue here is that management or owners are not investing to keep the place up to date. Just to be clear, I've been traveling to Santiago for the last 10 years and use to stay at this hotel until one day five years ago when they ran out of hot water at 8 am. For this trip I decided to try it again as a but but again, what a disapointment. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Newer side is very nice and up to date but the older tower is showing some wear and tear. "5 star lobby 3 star room"
5 star lobby- 3 star room AC didn't work- according to maintenance it was working however the room was 80 degree all night. (summer night) Internet didn't work on the 12th floor. I travel to Santiago several times a year on business never stayed at Intercontinental until now- Never will again. Within blocks there are many truly 5 star hotels.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel,...too bad they charge for everything!"
Beware that you have to pay extra for Brkft., internet, even the gym.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
After a horrible initial apartment experience, we decided to immediately check out and booked Intercontinental on the spot. And what a difference that made! Nice spacious rooms, nice breakfast, and usually quiet pool upstairs. One downfall: the wireless only works in a newer tower which we moved to after a nice stay in the older one. The concierge offered […] us a free breakfast for our efforts. I suggest the stroll in the El Golf as well. Great restaurants in the vicinity. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not for business traveler - Poor internet"
Really poor internet service in rooms especially at $20 per day. Rooms were clean, Gym is small, poor service at breakfast and cafe in lobby is rarely staffed. I had to help myself to a sandwich and drink. Will stay in the W in Santiago from now onGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Horrible corporate experience in a faraway place!"
Checked in from a long drive. They put us in one of the back rooms. The Internet ($10) didn't reach and we couldn't get a connection. The room had not been cleaned. Parking was exhorbitantly expensive. In addition, the underground parking was dark, dank, and terrifying. The main, grand lobby looked great until you got in your room. The fetor from the […] corridors in the back of the hotel were dizzying. The place is located in the middle of nowhere between Providencia (where many things are) and Las Condes (where the crypto-Pinochet loyalists are). It's an American business hotel, but it doesn't really cater to anyone. And it's expensive. As soon as we got there we immediately switched to Le Reve in Providencia (a 5* hotel worth every penny). Do NOT stay in this place at these prices unless you like the corporate experinece -- and done badly. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Loved the Intercontinental in Santiago. Definitely will stay there in my next visit to Santiago. I recommend it. The hotel is also located in a great area of Santiago. It is wonderful to take a leisure walk around the hotel. The surroundings are clean and the neighborhood is one of the best in Santiago. "Big rooms & Great salads"
Service and standards seemed to have dropped since last time I stayed. Check in staff and concierge were very good. I still like the big rooms, and the two restaurants are pretty good. Room service salads were delicious. However, the showers leak water all over the bathroom floor, the toilets don't flush too well, and the housekeeping was not up to […] scratch. I found a dirty floor rag left in my room and products were not re-stocked in bathroom. Food at breakfast buffet was also not re-placed/refreshed efficiently. I came for breakfast at 9am and there wasn't much there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"No free Wi Fi or water"
I think for the price of the room, the hotel would include free Wi Fi & complimentary water, but we had to pay for both of these. Did not really expect that from the Intercontinental brand. Will be staying in a hotel that offers these as standard next time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent room size, but watch out for extra costs"
This hotel is quite decent but as some other reviews say the fittings are not the newest - there was a good separate shower, but a small "sit up and beg" bath and the plug leaked badly [I had them replace it]. If you are not a Priority Club member they charge for WiFi. They also charge for the gym - both of which I consider a bit much considering the […] rooms are not cheap & most places don't charge on top. The breakfast was fine, but I actually preferred the breakfast in the Marriott down the road which I stayed in twice before. Here the tea water was too cold for example, with no milk jugs so I had to use the cereal milk in a large glass & there was more cold things and a less pleasing selection of fruit. "Friendly and efficient, reasonable location"
The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful at all times. My room was larger than expected with a double aspect as it was in the corner. It was also very quiet. The hotel rooms are in 3 towers and I think the rooms might be smaller in the older tower, but I did not have this problem. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. The hotel is in the […] business area but within 15-20 minutes walking distance of the downtown shops - it is quicker to walk because of the eternal traffic. Just round the corner from the hotel is a good choice of restaurants. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

An excellent experience with very helpful staff. The roadworks out the front were a pain but did not cause any issues when you got inside. Great location, very close to two major shopping centers that have really upmarket brands. I would deffinately return. Thank you!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good Location, Bad Hotel"
There is two hotel towers. The newer ones seemed ok, but the main block where my room was located was bad. Air Conditioning barely worked, carpet was old and muggy, staff was unattentive (except at the restaurant, they were great). "Not the usual Intercontinental Standard"
04/09/15 Christopher M Bath, United Kingdom
Stayed in the this hotel few weeks ago. It is in the financial district of Santiago so it was a good area. Was woke up at 1am with the work men banging and drilling on the floor where I was sleeping. Made a complaint however had to absolutely insist on being moved to another room as felt it was unreasonable doing repair work at 1am. Have stayed in many Intercontinental Hotels though this did miss the atmosphere, ambiance and luxuriousness that most IHG hotels have. I would not stay again.
"An overnight with all the amenities"
04/08/15 Ilene S Hollywood, Florida
The hotel was well situated in town to be able to walk to restaurants in the evening. We were part of a cruise tour and do not know how much was paid for the room. The front desk service was pleasant as was the concierge. The room was spacious, the bed very comfortable and the wifi worked as did the tv. The room had a coffee maker in it as well. The bathroom was also large and well equipped. We used the pool located on the upper floor and it was very clean and the furnishings around were comfortable and inviting. We ate a buffet breakfast in the morning and the food was tasty. Getting coffee or tea served was a bit of a challenge, but I think they got a lot of guests at one time.
Impressive lobby, great location and spacious room. However, the shower kept going from hot to cold by itself making the experience a pain every day of our 6-day stay. Our room was not made up on Sunday, though we got fresh towels and shampoo promptly upon request in the evening. Their wifi use/fee policy not clear at all and the app to connect is confusing. We found out they charge $20 per day, unless you are a member of their frequent guest program. Most hotels now include this for free. Same applies to the use of the fitness room, where the equipment is fairly old. Registration staff mostly indifferent, not really welcoming. Concierge staff is excellent.
"Too long to get rooms"
03/25/15 Rosa M North Salem, New York
We made a reservation to stay here for one night to mix business with pleasure while in Santiago. We checked in before 11am so that we could go on our way and be back by 3pm to go into our room without delays and get some rest before going out again. Well, we had to wait for almost an hour for our first room and a full hour for the second one. I found this to be unacceptable and the staff was not in any way apologetic about it. The room was fine and clean but the toilet seat was broken and this says something about a lack of attention to detail.
"Some rooms are only 2 star"
03/25/15 3nails4me Purvis
This Intercontinental has 3 towers. I have stayed in one that is 5 star; however, my current room, 1402, is maybe 2 star. The carpet is stained and has a musty, slight food smell. The chair for the computer table has brown gunk on the orange cloth, and the door of the small refrigerator in the room will not stay closed - prop the oven against the bottom & it will... Also the exercise room in the middle tower has 2 of the weight machines missing either the back or the seat on the machine. Finally, if you are an English speaking businessman, there are none of the top 5 watched news programs from the U.S. - no Fox News programs; in fact only a hazy BBC is provided in the rooms. However, you need to recognize the hotel personnel at the front desk and in the restaurant are 5 star. You will not find any better service. Overall very good personnel but very poor facilities.

We spent one night at the Intercontinental as a part of a post cruise tour to Machu Picchu. The hotel was a part of the tour package so it is difficult to gauge the value. It is a beautiful hotel in a wonderful, safe neighborhood. We did have one minor problem when our luggage was delivered initially to the wrong room and it took a while to sort out the problem. One of the highlights was the breakfast. The fruit was the freshest we had tasted in weeks and the presentation of the buffet was very inviting. The room was spacious, comfortable. and quiet and there was good Wifi. The restaurant row on Ave. Isadora G right around the block had many offerings. We ate at Tiramisu and enjoyed it very much.
"Twice a year visitor"

I use this hotel whenever I am in Santiago. It is very convenient being located in Les Condes where a large number of restaurants are situated. A special mention must go to the staff who are all professional and friendly. Nothing is ever too much trouble. I stay in the Club Tower and a special mention must go to Angelica who looks after breakfast. She is very cheerful and smiling and looks after everyone. She is brilliant. I always look forward to staying at the hotel when ever I am in Santiago.
"Not so nice"
I am guessing this property is due for a renovation. I checked in early after a red eye flight hoping to get some shut eye prior to my first meeting at noon. Whomever was drilling or Jackhammering at 830am would have none of that!!! The decor is early 1980s. The staff at the reception is friendly. The staff at the buffet is not friendly or helpful. I had to ask for coffee 3 times. Will avoid this place next time.
"Great stay at the Intercontinental!"
03/09/15 jacalyker florida
We are finishing our 3rd night, leaving tomorrow, and we could not be more pleased. I will admit that the Intercontinental is my go-to hotel, and that we stayed in the new tower. The rooms are excellent, the staff is just great, and they have been incredibly flexible. Once again, I am very pleased with the Intercontinental so perhaps others need to find their way to the new tower . . .
"Badly in need of updating"
03/07/15 Gary T Chicago, Illinois
This hotel is probably the least impressive of any Intercontinental Hotel I've ever stayed. The lobby is pretty and welcoming and the staff at the front desk was courteous and helpful. The rooms, however, were extremely dated and shabby. The tub and shower had gross mildew stains all around and the tub looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. One night when returning to our room late at night, our hallway was filled with plates of discarded food plates. The next morning we found that the plates were taken away but there were scraps of food laying all over the worn out carpeting, berries, grapes and the like. They stayed there all day until late in the afternoon. The internet connection was very spotty and mostly not connecting. When we did get connected, the service would turn off in the middle of your task more often than not. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone going to Santiago. The restaurant was decent though not great.
