"Outdated rooms, bathrooms and beds."
The lobby of the hotel is impressive and the front desk folks are ok, they also have a nice restaurant which is pricey--all this is completely different from the rooms. The furniture in the rooms are old; the beds are at least 10 years old and sagging--very unconfortable; the bathrooms are also very old and has not been updated for many years; the towels […] available in the bathrooms are beyond its life. Having said that, the house keepers do a good job keeping the place clean. The issue here is that management or owners are not investing to keep the place up to date. Just to be clear, I've been traveling to Santiago for the last 10 years and use to stay at this hotel until one day five years ago when they ran out of hot water at 8 am. For this trip I decided to try it again as a but but again, what a disapointment. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Newer side is very nice and up to date but the older tower is showing some wear and tear. Excellent experience -- great breakfasts included -- stayed an extra night at end of three nights on a tour. Many restaurants near the hotel. Only negative was ongoing construction in front of the hotel. Otherwise excellent hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"5 star lobby 3 star room"
5 star lobby- 3 star room AC didn't work- according to maintenance it was working however the room was 80 degree all night. (summer night) Internet didn't work on the 12th floor. I travel to Santiago several times a year on business never stayed at Intercontinental until now- Never will again. Within blocks there are many truly 5 star hotels.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel,...too bad they charge for everything!"
Beware that you have to pay extra for Brkft., internet, even the gym.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
After a horrible initial apartment experience, we decided to immediately check out and booked Intercontinental on the spot. And what a difference that made! Nice spacious rooms, nice breakfast, and usually quiet pool upstairs. One downfall: the wireless only works in a newer tower which we moved to after a nice stay in the older one. The concierge offered […] us a free breakfast for our efforts. I suggest the stroll in the El Golf as well. Great restaurants in the vicinity. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not for business traveler - Poor internet"
Really poor internet service in rooms especially at $20 per day. Rooms were clean, Gym is small, poor service at breakfast and cafe in lobby is rarely staffed. I had to help myself to a sandwich and drink. Will stay in the W in Santiago from now onGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Horrible corporate experience in a faraway place!"
Checked in from a long drive. They put us in one of the back rooms. The Internet ($10) didn't reach and we couldn't get a connection. The room had not been cleaned. Parking was exhorbitantly expensive. In addition, the underground parking was dark, dank, and terrifying. The main, grand lobby looked great until you got in your room. The fetor from the […] corridors in the back of the hotel were dizzying. The place is located in the middle of nowhere between Providencia (where many things are) and Las Condes (where the crypto-Pinochet loyalists are). It's an American business hotel, but it doesn't really cater to anyone. And it's expensive. As soon as we got there we immediately switched to Le Reve in Providencia (a 5* hotel worth every penny). Do NOT stay in this place at these prices unless you like the corporate experinece -- and done badly. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Loved the Intercontinental in Santiago. Definitely will stay there in my next visit to Santiago. I recommend it. The hotel is also located in a great area of Santiago. "Great location. Disappointing rooms."
The hotel has great location. The rooms need better maintenance -old / dirty carpet and bed sheets. After our first night, we had to change rooms because of honeymooners next door making lots of noise - you could hear everything they were doing / talking. Everything was OK after 2nd night.Genuine Expedia guest review
"I loved this hotel!"
We were only there for one night after disembarking a cruise. I was so disappointed to have to leave to catch a plane home. Could've moved in. It was wonderful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good but should be better"
This hotel is almost next door to the Holiday Inn Express, which for a bit less money offers more value, including breakfast and internet, which at the Intercontinental are $35 and $20/day, respectively. Larger rooms, but not really much fancier. Nicer/bigger lobby that give you meeting space, vs. the Holiday Inn.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good name but needs maintenance"
Nice hotel, well appointed, bathroom looked good but water was running all over from the shower. Reception staff was not polite and was not helpful with directions and maps for Santiago. In contrast, they were eager to give me an upgrade to a more expensive room (than the luxury king room I had) or try to convince me to use the hotel "taxi" parked outside […] the from entrance. Most of the time the staff seemed busy in conversations among themselves than talking to customers! Location is misleadingly advertised as good but not in the center of Providencia and far from attractions. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Big rooms & Great salads"
Service and standards seemed to have dropped since last time I stayed. Check in staff and concierge were very good. I still like the big rooms, and the two restaurants are pretty good. Room service salads were delicious. However, the showers leak water all over the bathroom floor, the toilets don't flush too well, and the housekeeping was not up to […] scratch. I found a dirty floor rag left in my room and products were not re-stocked in bathroom. Food at breakfast buffet was also not re-placed/refreshed efficiently. I came for breakfast at 9am and there wasn't much there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"No free Wi Fi or water"
I think for the price of the room, the hotel would include free Wi Fi & complimentary water, but we had to pay for both of these. Did not really expect that from the Intercontinental brand. Will be staying in a hotel that offers these as standard next time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent room size, but watch out for extra costs"
This hotel is quite decent but as some other reviews say the fittings are not the newest - there was a good separate shower, but a small "sit up and beg" bath and the plug leaked badly [I had them replace it]. If you are not a Priority Club member they charge for WiFi. They also charge for the gym - both of which I consider a bit much considering the […] rooms are not cheap & most places don't charge on top. The breakfast was fine, but I actually preferred the breakfast in the Marriott down the road which I stayed in twice before. Here the tea water was too cold for example, with no milk jugs so I had to use the cereal milk in a large glass & there was more cold things and a less pleasing selection of fruit. "Friendly and efficient, reasonable location"
The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful at all times. My room was larger than expected with a double aspect as it was in the corner. It was also very quiet. The hotel rooms are in 3 towers and I think the rooms might be smaller in the older tower, but I did not have this problem. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. The hotel is in the […] business area but within 15-20 minutes walking distance of the downtown shops - it is quicker to walk because of the eternal traffic. Just round the corner from the hotel is a good choice of restaurants. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good Location, Bad Hotel"
There is two hotel towers. The newer ones seemed ok, but the main block where my room was located was bad. "InterContinental - Executivo - Santiago"
Quem quisesse, no entanto, poderia tomar o café no salão do hotel central. Ao pedirmos para a moça da recepção confirmar nossa pasasgem com a cia aérea, essa não teve nenhum empenho e respondeu que não conseguira. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice located hotel for biz traveler, no surprises"
08/16/14 Jatador Various
Stayed at intercontinental for 4 nights on a biz trip. Location is good for biz trip and about 15-20 mins away from the airport. A pretty standard intercontinental the biz traveler is used to. Big plus is the several restaurant nearby. Also one shopping mall is located just less than kilometer away. My room was average, a bit old and would needs some maintenance. At top floors there is a fitness room / gym that is pretty OK, but lacks the normal stationary bikes. There is a also a pool - but I didn't use it this time. I would have used it if a proper sauna and showers were located on the same floor, now the setup is not they good for swimming and bathing.
"Above and Beyond Service"

Our five night stay at the Intercontinental Hotel was everything you expect from a stellar hotel. Beautiful lobby, facilities, restaurants, pool, spa etc. The location is located in the business district and very convenient to two metro lines. The hotel staff were hospitable, friendly and very professional. I want to acknowledge the exceptional above and beyond service of Fernando Sanchez. He is a night manager at the front desk at the hotel. Today at the metro we were rushing to make a tour and realized we were out of metro money on our pass. We turn around and Fernando is paying for our fare. He recognized us from the hotel and was on his way home. He saved the day and spent the subway ride sharing tips and suggestions for places to visit. Talk about stellar service. Thanks so much! We look forward to visiting again soon.

All around this was a great stay. Got a corner view room for no particular reason. Concierge Humberto was really helpful, booked dinner show and wine tour despite some trouble from the company as it was after hours. The area is great, lots of restaurants in walking distance.
"Value for money"

Not situated in the centre of the city, but in the Los Condes area, where restaurants and cafes abound. Close to Metro and the Jumbo supermarket/Mall, the Intercontinental Santiago hotel is always welcoming, with it's airy lobby and friendly check in staff. Amazing breakfast, in the convivial restaurant, always pleases. The lobby bar not only serves as a watering hole but also provides good 'pub grub'.
"Tired, run down and in need of some TLC"
07/17/14 ozziedoglover australia
We hard three rooms here for one night en route to Brazil and were so disappointed that we moved to another hotel (Grand Hyatt) when we returned to Santiago a few days later. The rooms are old, with scuffed walls and tired-looking furnishings. The bathroom fittings are just not up to international hotel standard. The foyer is dark and depressing and the staff try hard but they do not speak good English so communication is difficult. I don't expect all Chileans to speak English - and I do know some Spanish - but I expect better comprehension from front of house staff in an international hotel. Not a good experience, and another illustration of the widely varying quality standards of the Intercontinental chain.
"Still too pricy... and wifi still charged..."
07/16/14 Eduardo S La Floresta, Uruguay
Stayed again at this hotel. Conveniently located, and the hotel is in pretty good shape. Room service meals are very pricy and even though they are not bad, they are not good either. Further from my previous review, this level of hotel cannot charge for wifi. This is a must nowadays and a reason for choosing one hotel from another... particularly since a good number are people travelling on business...

When visiting Chile my girlfriend and I decided to stay at the InterContinental Santiago for the last two days of our trip. As some others mentioned before there was a strike in front of the hotel that time, which confused but didn't bother us too much. We accidently entered the Club Tower first, which looks nice and modern and always having folks around to help. After we were told of being in the wrong tower we made the short walk inside the hotel to find ourselves in a wonderful, spacious and bright lobby. Check-In was smooth and the room quiet nice, though a little dark (but that's personal taste). The location of the hotel is great as it is close (five minutes walking) to Costanera Center and a short cab ride away from Parque Arauco Shopping Center. Also you can easily catch the subway from Tobalaba - station, which is only 8 minutes walking from the hotel. The subway (Red Line) connects you not only to the most important points in the city center (Plaza de Armas, Cerro Bellavista, Plaza Italia etc etc), but also to Pajaritos-station from where you can catch the bus to the airport (costs 1450 CLP, but you need over an hour for the entire way). The breakfast at hotel's restaurant 2920: Grill was good and service quiet attentive, but I must point out Dennery (hopefully it's written correctly), who's performance was outstanding, friendly and charming all the time, especially with the situation of the strike given. Also I'd like to thank the entire concierge team, but especially Carolina and Alejandro, whom we bothered with so many things and they always came up with an even better surprise. They delivered an incredible performance and we felt blessed to meet such outstanding people. We will definitely stay at the InterContinental Santiago when visiting Santiago again!

During our stay at this hotel, many of the workers were on strike. When we checked in at around 10pm, we were told that due to the strike, only one Restaurant was operating and there could be some loud noise from 9am-6pm, as a result we would get free wifi. I understand the workers have the right to strike and they all seemed quite friendly etc - however after initially leaving by the front entrance (where I spoke to a few) I was asked in future to leave by a secondary entrance away from the protestors. I found the whole process fairly uncomfortable, they had plastered the front windows with signs including some begging guests not to stay at the hotel. With only one cafeteria open we only ate breakfast at the hotel (lots of nice restaurants near by) which we found to be good and the staff all trying very hard. We used the concierge a few times, which we also found good and the hotel car - all very obliging. Our room was in the old tower, whilst it needs an upgrade the room was large, nice shower and well cleaned.
