Before we booked this hotel we had read a few reviews that talked about the expense of parking and the cost of the internet service. Self parking was $25.00 CAD per night and internet service was $16.00 CAD per night. These are pretty typical charges for staying at a downtown hotel in a major city anywhere and given the cost of the hotel room per night still made the hotel a good deal. Once we were there the car pretty much stayed parked since the subway system was only two blocks away and there is a major shopping center, the Eaton Place within walking distance of the hotel. I had also read about the hotel staff being rude which we did not experience at all. If you go to Toronto I would reccomend staying here.

This is a perfectly good hotel, and the Hotels.com price was very reasonable. However, for a convention at the Toronto Convention Center, it is too far away. As a result, you have to take the subway or a taxi downtown every day. If you don't mind a little inconvenience, it can save you money.

Reviewed by Chancellor of Buffalo on Jul 21, 2009
The room was very comfortable, the flat-screen television was nice (though I didn't watch much television during my five-day stay), and the shower pressure was substantial (I like a shower with strong pressure). The only negatives I have about it are that the toilet sinks forward a bit when you sit on it (the floor underneath needs to be leveled out) and the insane price of breakfast (including the room service fee, about $35 Canadian). Skip the breakfast in the hotel and take the 15-minute walk down Bay Street (toward downtown) and there's an awesome breakfast place about a block up from the bus station (and nearby Eaton Centre).

Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jul 14, 2009
I booked this hotel for a great price for two nights, and thought I got a really great deal. While the hotel itself was beautiful and in that respect I did get a great deal, my issue was with the rest of the hotel charges. Their parking prices were outrageous, more than twice what I was expecting to pay from previous experience at other hotels of the same quality. Also, the cost of internet was ridiculous. I have never paid for internet during a hotel stay, that cost has always been included in the room. In all, I ended up paying for almost an extra night just to park my car there, I refused to pay for the internet after finding out how much I was going to pay for parking. I would stay at the hotel again, but only if the parking fees were reduced by at least half, and the internet was free. If I had known I would be paying that much, I would have booked at my favorite hotel which was charging a lot more per night, but parking is cheaper and the internet is free.

The rooms are not well sound-insulated and my room was kinda noisy on the main drag there (there's a bistro and Tim Horton's across the street from hotel, can't remember the street name) from mostly police and fire sirens. So, choose a room on the other side of the hallway. Other than that, the hotel was very nice and convenient to downtown restaurants, and even the tv is a nice big flat screen!

Ideally located to Yonge Street, the Downtown area and to the subway this hotel is worthy to be considered by potential guests as one of the better hotels to stay at. Clean, comfortable, well maitained with friendly staff members, I will definitely consider staying here again and will recommend this hotel to my colleagues and friends who travel to Toronto. The only downside was that the internet fee was additional - for those of us who travel on business, internet access is a "must" and should, I think, be included in the room amenities.

The Sutton Place Hotel is a first-class hostelry very centrally located. It's within walking distance to the Royal Ontario Museum, Bata Shoe Museum, Gardiner Ceramic Museum and the university. Steps from public transportation and the swanky Yorkville shopping and art gallery district. One caveat, things like the $16.50 per day for wi-fi service reduces the good deal you might get from hotels.com. If you're comfortable without that service, stay there without reservation (no pun intended).

My significant and I decided to get the heII outta dodge and head up to Toronto for the weekend. We chose this hotel b/c it seemed like it had some personality (rather than stay in a regular chain hotel) and was in a good location (queen west). We like to dabble in the occasional cigarettes while we loaf around the room so we decided to get a smoking room. When we stepped off the elevator onto our floor it was like a punch in the face. The entire floor reeked like a stale ash tray. We've stayed in smoking rooms in other hotels and nothing was remotely close to this.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Sutton Place. My room was really large and comfortable, and it even had a balcony. The location is convenient to so much. But, I found some things strange -- particularly the furniture. It was all relatively new and in good condition, but it looked like furniture you'd find in the 1970s. If you like white marble, you'll love the room decor! In spite of the strange room decor, the hotel was really comfortable, convenient, and a good price. I'd definitely stay there again.
