Nora Chaweng Hotel - Ko Samui

There were some cleanliness issues with the room, but nothing that would be a deal-breaker: some dust, a leaky AC unit. Location and access to the beach definitely drive occupancy. The pool is pretty sweet, too. We got a promo rate that eliminated any disappoinment.

I don't know why this hotel is marked so highly. Its really dirty. There are stains on all the towels, bedsheets, etc. I only booked 2 nights there and was happy to leave.

The hotel is clean, excellent location, good room,etc. BUT i face an unpleasant experience:I live in Thailand for some years and have many friends in diiferent places, including Koh Samui. A foreigner friend of mine came to visit and no questions were asked. Later on, a Thai friend came to visit and he was questioned as if he was a criminal or a prostitute […] and asked to leave his ID card in the front desk. Furthermore, my room was booked for two guest and my second guest, another friend was arriving in the evening from Bangkok to meet me in Samui. The rooms at the hotel were comfy and spacious, although I found the bed a little hard for my liking. The hotel is at the beginning of Chaweng road and you have to cross the street and go through another resort to get to the beach, but it's not too much of a distance. However, the happening areas were a bit further down the beach. The spa was wonderful! […] My wife and I tried the honeymoon package and were in bliss afterwards, although individual treatments are expensive compared to outside massage places and spas. Everything you need (money exchange,pharmacy, last minute purchases) were also in walking distance. I would recommend this hotel to other travellers. First thing is to make sure your ride knows which Nora in Chaweng you are going to, I saw at least 3 on the main road. Hotel was fairly new although my shower was falling apart. We were really impressed with this hotel upon arrival, especially for the price. However, that soon faded when we reached the second floor of the hotel and were slapped in the face with the smell of sewage/mildew. This smell persisted in our room in the bathroom area. On top of that, my beach towel had stains all over the back of either rust or blood, […] and they didn't change the sheets. The pluses were that the location was very close to the beach (across the street and down a block through another hotel, Aqua) and nightlife, the breakfast was good, and there was wifi in the rooms. The beds here are very very hard, not very comfortable after a long flight. There is no cleaning of the room , house keeping only make your bed and provide new towels. As for the room service , by the time it got to us it was COLD ..

We realised that it is important for us to see the beach or at least some trees from our window to feel like we are in thailand but if this is not important […] for you the hotell is nice, the rooms are good (smells a bit funny but no biggie) the staff is very helpful and friendly, you get beach towels from reception and its just a small walk to the beach. However I would not recomend anyone to stay in chaweng. We thought it was crouded, overpriced and not a nice place to be. Before we came to chaweng we stayed at choeng mon and we liked this more (fishermans village is also a nice place to go for dinner). But overall we thought this hotel was good for the price. I stayed at Nora Chaweng Hotel 3 years ago when it was just newly built. Back then the inconvenience and nuiances of an almost being finished hotel from the strong smell of drying cement and new staff were supplimented well by a courteous and warm service from staff. This visit however three years after was not as warm. Almost none of the staff had […] a welcoming smile. Then it took the intervention of the manager get us moved to another room/floor after the A/C unit in my Mom's room spewd water all over the TV in her room. But they did find us two ajoining rooms. I ordered a van to transport us to the Airport at 9AM on the day we checked out for a 10AM departure to the airport. We had to wait a good 20 minutes before the van and driver arrived. the hotel was very clean and the staff where very friendly and helpful, but the bath towels need tobe replaced as they were thread bare and the rooms could do with a lick of paint to freshen them up, but the staff made up for this . this hotel was very good value for the money, and we would stay there again if needed.

Nora Chaweng Hotel is right on the main roach (Chaweng Beach Rd), 5 minute walk from the beach, close to the night life, shopping and everything else. The hotel staff were extremely helpful, even advising us on a delicious local place to eat. The staff spoke English and were sweet and accomodating in every way. Rooms cleaned on a daily basis. The pool is lovely (extremely cold-but the weather is so hot its not a big deal). You do hear some noise at night - being that close to strip... but it wasnt horrible. My only complaint would be we paid for laundry and it was expensive (in regards to the other rates for laundry in Thailand). But the benefit was we didnt have to walk around with our laundry and find a suitable place and all our clothing came back fresh and clean in our rooms. Read more

Myself and my girlfriend stayed in the Nora Chaweng for 5 nights in total (2 at the beginning and 3 at the end) either end of travelling the nearby islands. The hotel itself is clean, well run and in a great location. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the aircon is much needed and brilliant! It's located on the main chaweng road but far enough […] away to escape the noise of the Chaweng Night Life. Saying that Soi Green Mango is only a 5 minute walk (or 10 minute stumble) away and passes McDonalds and Burger King for the much needed end of night fast food! The hotel has safes in the rooms, security on the door and the reception is manned all night. Rooms were cleaned daily and they provide you with beach towels also which was a nice touch. We stayed at the Nora Chaweng for 4 nights in June 2010. The staff were friendly and courteous, the rooms modern and clean. the bathroom was large with a great sized tub. Breakfast was all of the usual suspects and tasty. The pool was great as it was under the building and in constant shade the pool was really cool and refreshing after a hot and muggy […] day out. Not the usual very warm pools you get in Thailand that offer no relief from the heat and humidity.
