"a good alternative to staying at killington"
The hotel was fine and usual standard for holiday inn.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenience right off of Route 7"
Pros: on checking-in the room was very clean, the room was equipped with a plasma flat screen TV, a refrigerator and a microwave, the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Cons: three of us share a room with just double beds, it was a tight squeeze for my husband and I in one of the double beds. The hallway and pool area needs renovation. […] The hall carpets were worn and stained, the pool was cloudy and the two hot tubs were not working, one was empty and the other one third full with stagnat water. We picked the hotel becuase we knew we wanted to soak in the hot tubs after a hard day of skiing. The hotel is located next to a shopping center and is about 17 miles from Killington. I liked the location because we were within a short drive of many restaurants and it was a little warmer than staying up on the mountain. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very convenient, somewhat basic hotel"
Location is great, room was fine, having a fridge and microwave in the room is fantastic. Hot tub was also very nice, though I wished it was just a tad hotter. My only real complaint is the air conditioning/heat unit in the room. It is pretty loud, which would have been fine if there was a way to make it stay on - but on low, high, and auto it turned […] off and on, off and on. The room isn't very soundproof - noises are very easily heard from the hall except when the heat/air unit is on. So I didn't sleep well at all with either noises from the hall waking me, or the unit itself turning off and on. I don't consider myself to be a very light sleeper, but I definitely had problems here. Other than that the room was good, nice and clean, bed comfortable, etc. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I enjoyed my stay very much. I have three suggestions. Change the mattresses. They are very firm and not tolerated when someone has arthritis and change your pool to allow swimming in a deep end.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Convenient to many amenities. Easy access from major roadsGenuine Expedia guest review
Friendly, helpful staff, but the hotel is beginning to show its' age - musty smell in rooms, old furnihings, fan in bathroom idn't work toilet flushed very slowly etc.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was unsatisfied with my stay. The heater was "working," and the max I cut set it on was 80 degrees, yet my room was freezing all night. Even the covers were not nearly enough for me to stay warm; I ended up sleeping in my hoodie and full clothing. Also, the hotel room's numbering system was incredibly complicated and I had difficulty finding my r […] oom. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for impromptu stays...."
First of all if I could give halves I would. This hotel is not a bad hotel in anyway, due to my own mistake I got put in a smoking section and that was a problem because of my brother who has athsma. I did go and ask the front desk if there was anything to be done but there were no extra rooms. They did offer to come and deionize the room and were very […] nice and understanding as well as apologetic for something that wasn't their fault. The only thing that I would say was a problem was our bath-shower which kept clogging up as well as their washer and dryer not working. Overall they were welcoming and understanding and I would stay again just in a non smoking section. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The complimentary breakfast was a joke. Toast, juice, waffles, were extra. Extra for toast? You have to be kidding!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"good hotel overall"
good, but no night light in bathroom, and when I asked for one I thought I asked for a space shuttle! also too many people lingering in hallway and talking late at night, doesn't any one from security walk haaways?.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenience and quality"
It was wonderful experince. I highly recommend to stay here. Clean, good service, good location. I am so happy with the service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the hotel is in need of updating, old and worn lookingGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel was ok for what we paid. They should be ashamed of themselves for the condition of their gym. It is in abysmal condition. Most equipment doesn't work and what does work is pretty rusty and in very poor condition. I found 50% of the staff to be helpful and courteous, but the other 50% not so much. The hostess in the restaurant was close to […] one of the rudest individuals I have encountered in a while. The room was very clean. The location was super convenient, but it isn't a place I would want to stay for a real vacation. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Older Hotel But OK"
Found this hotel to be older and a little worn around the edges but met our needs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The only disadvantage was, being a senior, there was no elevator to the second floor where my room was located.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Holiday Inn Rutland"
I stayed here for three nights. I liked the indoor pool, hot tub and sauna. One hot tub, however, was not working and neither was cleaned in the evening. If you want to soak after a day on the slopes, the water will be very used by that time. The fitness center was good. The best thing about this hotel is the location. It is right in the middle of […] Rutland so there are shops around if you need to buy anything. It is a very short drive to a few good restaurants and about a half hour to Killington. If you are looking for something more secluded, then this hotel would not be a good choice. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"If you cant be right on the mountain..."
We stayed at the hotel for a couple of days of skiing at Killington and Pico. Since we couldnt be right on the mountain this was a terrific alternative. My only complaint was that the hot tub jets did not work properly. I liked that one hot tub was kept hotter than the other!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed two nights and the location was a 1/2 hr from Killington resort in which I was misled online when I booked but we made the best of it. Also in a strip mall. One of the hot tubs wasn't working and not very clean. Pool was clean. Room was clean and comfy. No elevators either but manageable. Overall good stayGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Stayed there for 4 days. Clean and comfortable hotel with nice accommodations, buffet style breakfast. The only thing i didnt like is bar. Ordered two grape crush cocktails and couldn't even taste alcohol. too sour.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Holiday Inn in Rutland"
Christmas family ski trip. Hotel was close enough to ski either Killington, or Okemo mountians, about the same distance from both, but Okemo seemed like a much easier drive. The hotel was great, even if the weather wasn't. We could only ski two days because of warm rainy weather on our other two days that we hoped to be skiing. That was okay though, […] because my seven year old enjoyed the pool every night, and the front desk was very helpful with recommendations around town for activities to entertain a seven year old child. Plus the restuarant was great. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't take any notice of the pictures"
This hotel is not based in beautiful green countryside as the pictures might lead you to believe. It is in the middle of a strip mall on route 7 out of Rutland. It is quite a distance from the town centre and surrounded by traffic.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice, BUT NOT $212/Nite Nice"
The hotel staff from Front Desk to Cleaning Staff were very courteous. Large Room, Very hard(firm) King size mattress. View of a tree outside the window blocked the view of the picturesque hills. Black mold in grout of shower/tub surround. 1 Hot Tub 1/2 working, Cold Pool. Hallways/carpets an eyesore(Stains, end to end of hallway). Continental breakfast […] Very Good, KUTO's to kitchen. If I was paying $120 - $150 / nite I wouldn't really mind. But it's the last time I'll pay Average $212/nite for a stay like that. Over All NOT IMPRESSED!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The heating system in the room is very inconsistent. The heat is either too hot, or not exsitent. Need better thermostats in the room rather than the window heating units.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Service impéccable, installations un peu désuètes"
Accueil et personnel impeccables. Lit confortable.

"Very nice staff, good dog hotel."
We arrived at a crazy busy time and our room smelled like smoke. The staff immediately helped us by switching our room to a wonderful clean room and were never anything but nice and helpful. we travel with our dogs (who are MUCH better trained than the last review!) And we had plenty of places to walk them. Not everyone was cleaning up after their pets so we had to watch our step in a few areas. IF YOU TRAVEL WITH YOUR DOG (S) PLEASE BE RESPONSIBLE!! Don't let them bark and crap all over. Have some respect for these places that allow us to stay there!
"Dogs in Room: Bad Idea"
09/28/14 LPLimon Salem, Massachusetts
I appreciated the cleanliness and comfort of the room, including the fact that it was soundproofed from the outside. Too bad it wasn’t better soundproofed from the next room and the hallway. I get more than enough of barking dogs where I live, so I was unpleasantly surprised that the hotel, which didn’t seem fully booked when I checked in, would have put me next to a couple who brought their two dogs with them. While in the room, the dogs were mostly quiet, though I did hear some barking and whining the first evening. But coming to and going from the room, they barked loudly and excitedly, which was really annoying. I did not request a room change, having already installed myself in this room before I realized there were dogs next door. And they were quiet during the night. The bed was comfortable, but getting a comfortable sleeping temperature without turning on the room fan (which was noisy) eventually required dismantling the duvet assembly and removing most of the pillows, which seemed to trap body heat. (This is a special note for those of my gender and age prone to -- well, you know.) The pool is very nice, and warm. Why the air in the pool area is kept so chilly, though, is a mystery. It felt cool just walking into the area; coming out of the pool wet felt d**n cold. I'd recommend bringing a terry robe to cover you when you go from the pool or hot tubs to the shower/locker room. The breakfast buffet was okay. I was able to get a breakfast voucher by going to the front desk in the morning and smiling nicely; otherwise I would have had to pay $9.50. The menu showing the breakfast offerings included “oatmeal,” which on a chilly morning seemed like a good idea, but appeared nowhere on the buffet table. I asked a staff member, who reached into a cabinet and pulled out an envelope of instant oatmeal. Yuck. So I went for the eggs (okay), hash browns (very good), and bacon (very good; hard to get wrong). The mini-doughnut I grabbed on the way out was ice cold and dry, a good sign of having recently come out of the freezer. The coffee was weak. Would that have been worth $9.50? Probably not. Dinner was disappointing. The server, who seemed like a newbie, couldn't answer basic questions (like: what's the house white). While the salad bar was wonderfully fresh, with good variety, my main course was not very good. Nondescript pork chops were smothered in a spiced apple compote that overtook everything, including the mashed potatoes. Dinner wreaked havoc on my digestive system all night, so I got practically no sleep. By morning, diarrhea was in full force. And I had to travel that day. I vacillated between a 3 and 4 rating, finally settling on 4 by taking the restaurant and my next-door neighbors out of the picture. This is in fact a decent hotel in a convenient location. My room was comfortable and very clean. The mattress was very good, as was the TV and Wi-Fi. The value, with a reservation timed just right before the in-season hike, was fine. I would return if I came back to the area under two conditions: (a) do NOT put me next to guests with dogs; and (b) I will dine elsewhere.
"Very Satisfied. Clean, comfortable and free breakfast."

I went to Rutland for a wedding and the choice was between two hotels. We chose the Holiday Inn since one person in our party was bringing their dog and it was pet friendly. The hotel was well laid out and had an indoor pool and seating area with a small gym and some outside space. The room I shared with a friend was a nice size with very comfortable beds and pillows. The room was very clean and spacious. I didn't hear any noise from surrounding rooms and slept very well. I didn't have any problem with the wifi. The price was around $130 with taxes and the location was pretty central. There were shopping areas across the street and down Rt 7. We also went to the Long Trail brewery which was about a 1/2 hour away and along that route were many cute shops and orchards etc. We didn't know breakfast was included so that was a nice way to start the morning. They had a little bit of everything - eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, cereal etc. Overall, very satisfied and happy with the hotel.
"Beware the Weekend Rate"
09/15/14 Minerbob Grand Junction, Colorado
Spent four nights including the first Friday and Saturday night in September. The rate jumped $20 on Friday night and another $30 on Saturday night "because of the leaf viewing" making Saturday night 50% more expensive than Thursday night. Well, the leaves weren't turning that early and no one showed up to look at them, the parking lot was virtually empty. The room was clean and comfortable although there was a lingering cigarette smell at the door and a musty smell from the air conditioner. The breakfast buffet was very good, the staff were friendly and helpful, had supper in the restaurant with family one night and we all enjoyed it, the free wi-fi worked very well. Do ask for a breakfast voucher on check-in or you will be out $9.95 for the buffet.
"Breakfast alone was worth the stay"
After spending a quiet night we headed down to the restaurant for breakfast and WOW, we're we surprise at the offerings and quality and the hostess Deb was so helpful and sociable, it really wrapped the whole experience of the stay up

The property was fresh and clean-smelling, and the desk clerk was great. We had an excellent breakfast served buffet-style the next morning. The air conditioner had a mind of its own, but pretty much did the job, and if you want to be really picky, I could have done with a bit more water pressure. The room was clean and bright, and I would stay here again without hesitation: This property is next to a very nice chain hotel, but we had about sixty dollars more in our pocket after our one night stay. My only other really picky comment would be about some very weak coffee, but there is a drive-thru Panera very close.

This was your average, mid-priced hotel. It seems like it had been renovated recently, but some things still looked a little worn, like the wall-paper in the bathroom. The room also had a constant, musty smell. I'm wondering if it used to be a smoking room. But it was fairly affordable and the pool, workout area, and restaurant looked okay, although we did not use them since we were only here for one night. I'd stay here again for a night. There are some good restaurants downtown..check out opentable and make a reservation!
"Will not go back"
09/03/14 Well-deserved Massachusetts
One night stay with two teenagers. Air conditioner (the old manual kind form the 70's) sounded like a lawn mower and kept us awake most of the night. We saw a few ants on the "clean" bed sheets when we arrived. Our toilet was "ghost flushing" every 15-30 seconds...sounded like it was flushing whenever anyone else seemed to flush theirs. We had to close the bathroom door but could still hear it. Stain on the shower ceiling. As I was checking out, the woman in front of me was very upset that her purse was stolen from her locked room. The desk attendant - in a whisper - actually said "they come in and pick the locks." WHAT!!! I agree with another post, there are containers (the 40ft kind that go on the back of trucks) parked on the lawn. It looks like they've added new carpets, paint and wallpaper, but quite frankly, this is the kind of hotel that will always have that 1970's feel. Also, the kids went in the pool and said there was a lot of hair floating around. My family travels quite a bit and this was one of the worse values I've seen in a long time. Oh yeah, I went to write out a card for my aunt & uncle and there was not a pen/pencil in the room. All this and we were there only 19 hours.

We stayed for 4 days and enjoyed every aspect of the hotel. The entire staff was wonderful, the bed was comfortable and the food in the restaurant was great. The visit was to spend time with my daughter whom is going to college in the area. There are good restaurants in the area and a lot of sight seeing if you want to do a little driving. We will be back!!
"Clean but old"

I didn't want to stay here based on the reviews but my friends made me bc of price. Thankfully it was clean. It does need to be updated and there are chipped paint etc but was fine for 1 night stay. Breakfast was only included bc I used the trip advisor special. Breakfast would not have been worth paying for.
