The rooms were very basic but an excellent value for the money when you consider location and access to the resort property. Everything was very clean and the staff was uniformly pleasant and accommodating. The only minor complaint would be that the in-room WiFi was pretty spotty, but there were several convenient hotspots on the property for internet […] access. The on site restaurant was adequate with very prompt service of basic foods; nothing glamorous but certainly acceptable. All in all very nice value. I would absolutely stay here again. Hotel workers were easily distracted by phone calls and talking to each other. Friends of the hotel staff visited late into the night and early morning, parking out front with loud playing music. "Close to the beach and awesome pool!"
Hotel was basic. You get what you pay for. We didn't need anything fancy so this did just fine. The fridge/kitchenette was a bonus we weren't expecting. Neither was cable or free wifi! Can't beat that. Room was ok in terms of cleanliness and condition, but again, we didn't mind we were rarely there. The pool is so awesome, we spend nearly a whole day […] there once we discovered the in cave swim-up bar! 2 for 1 happy hour drinks in there too! Staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. located on waterfront canal, nice to watch the boats launch. Located a short walk across the street. I stayed with my mom and her friend eho are both in their 70's and were easily able to make the short walk to the beach. The pool is great, has a low shallow end allowing easy access for the young and old. Rooms were clean and a good size.Genuine Expedia guest review

Room was clean and all things needed were there. Air conditioner made noise all the time. Furnishings were seedy. Now the wake up call was unbelievable. "Very good hotel for the price"
Staff is very nice, specially front desk people. You can use the great pool that some other three hotels have at Taino beach. The breakfast buffet is very louded with things you may expect at a good price. Rooms are a little old but clean and the A/C was like new. It had a modern TV. Conclusion, a good choice.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Avoid by all means!"
Our stay was absolutely horrible! This is one of the nastiest properties I have ever experienced. The first room they gave us had a broken AC unit. The room they moved us to didn't have a night lamp for reading and I had to keep the ceiling light on in order to read, which bothered my room mate. The blankets on both beds had big holes in them, and the […] toilet had HAIR on the seat. I went through an entire packet of CLOROX wipes before I dared use this disgusting bathroom. The only good thing about this hotel is that it provides access to the beautiful beach and pool of the Taino Beach Resort accross the street, but the whole experience is depressing and disgusting. First night, bed had sand on the sheets. No one around to change them but was offered clean sheets to change ourselves!. Room and hotel needs a complete rennovation. Toilet kept "running". I had a great time here! The staff was great and very friendly! Whenever I needed something, they were there for me. I had a king-size room, on the top floor overlooking the bay, which was nice. They could upgrade some parts of the hotel as some rooms were not as nice as mine, but overall, worth the price. Everything is conveniently located. We really enjoyed our stay the staff was very helpful and friendly, from the front desk clerk to the housekeeping staff, and the gift shop staff. Our room was cleaned daily and we had fresh towels daily, the hotel is an older hotel but newly painted and well kept. the king bed was very confortable. The ferry boat to the marketplace was a great way to […] get back and forth and see the town. Taino by the sea had a wonderful breakfast buffett every morning overlooking the beach and wonderful food at night as well. The beach was beautiful with reclining chairs and tiki huts all along the beach. Also the bonfire at night was a great addition. The pool was wonderful with the slide and the cave swim up pool bar. I would reccommend this hotel to everyone. The cave tour and gold rock beach was also very enjoyable. We are already planning to come back next year. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Everyone was so wonderful! They were so helpful and so nice. The beds are very comfortable. You are right at the bay so the ferry to get to grand lucaya market place is just outside your room. There is a wonderful lady in the front desk named "Big Mama" that makes you feel at home and helps schedule all you tours and activities. We went across the street to their sister company,Taino Beach Resort. They have a lazy river pool and swim up bar. Had a great time!
"A few hiccups, but overall a pleasant experience"
03/12/15 Strumism Ottawa, Canada
Stayed here for 3 nights in the middle of February. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The first room we checked into looks like it had been forgotten by the cleaning staff but this was quickly fixed and we were given a different room. Later in the evening, while we were outside, nearly walked into our room as they had been told to check in to it - again easily fixed but it would have made more a much more awkward experience had we been inside. We had access to Taino Beach, their other resort. The pool was clean if not a little cold. The beach was beautiful. If you're going to spend time on the beach be prepared to be bothered every hour or so by either people trying to get you to rent jet skis or go on excursions or locals who tried to sell us everything from drugs to prostitutes; easily forgotten but annoying after the 10th time. The resort/beach area did have security on duty so it wasn't too frequent. Bonfire was a nice experience. Food and drink were a little expensive but we had figured they would be. Cocktails and beer were good, food was nothing special but filling nevertheless.
"NOT AT ALL HOW ITS ADVERTISED"
03/12/15 Lauren M
if you're looking for a spring break destination: this is NOT the place. My travel agent was misleading through bahamasun.com and assured me it would be a hot spot for college kids, and I think the median age was 55+. Not close to the bars and not full of people. Food service was less than stellar, restaurant staff treated my friends and I like college kids and not paying customers. It took forever to get our food. It's also not a buffet, even though we technically paid for a buffet meal plan we only got to eat from the same limited menu every day. All inclusive drinks also weren't a thing--instead of "6 drinks per day", we were given tickets for "6 run punches per day", which were extremely sweet and after 4 days of drinking them made all of us sick. The room was okay, it was semi clean even though the toilet didn't flush all the way. Walls are paper thin and towels were really scratchy. The pool and the beach were lovely though. Better for a family or retirement vacation.
"Basic, Clean Accomodations"
02/24/15 Margaret S Wellington, Florida, United States
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Flamingo Bay Hotel & Marina for Valentine's Day weekend. The hotel was very basic. Check in was smooth and quick. An employee named "Big Mama" in the lobby tried to have a us schedule a tour of their sister property, the Taino Beach Resort. We declined and she was understanding, not high presssure as in other timeshare resorts. The room itself was clean and comfortable, but also very basic. I liken it to that of a Days Inn, Super 8, etc. It did have a small, seperate area with a microwave and mini fridge. There were a few minor issues in the room. The phone and remote did not work, the toilet was slow to flush, etc., but a very nice employee named "Fish" was kind enough to assist us. There is a ferry boat that picks you up directly from the hotel's marina and takes you on a lovely ride to Port Lucaya for $6 round trip. This was a useful amenity that we took advantage of a few times over the weekend. In addition, when staying at Flamingo Bay, you get full access to the amenities at the Taino Beach Resort directly across the street. There is a beautiful beach, which we really enjoyed, great pools, a restaurant, business center, etc. The Flamingo Bay Hotel is by no means an all-frills resort. It does, however, offer a decent choice in standard motel accomodations for the budget-conscience traveler who needs an escape to paradise. We had a great stay overall.
02/23/15 TeamDork Lighthouse Point, Florida
We stayed here since our normal haunt, Our Lucayan, was booked up. What a mistake. We had two rooms on the first floor front. The noise from out front was incredible. And since upstairs was tiled and uninsulated it sounded like our neighbors were up all night re-arranging the furniture. We could hear every cough, burp, fart from every room surrounding us. They're a firm believer is comet and bleach here to clean with and the smells chased us out of the room for several hours until they subsided enough to enter. We had to chase down a remote for the tv in our room, the tv didn't work in the other. The toliet handle was wearing out and broke completely the second night. The microwave didn't work. Our room had 2 mis-matched coffee mugs and a shot galss, the other had nothing to drink coffee out of. Not a single plastic drink cup to be found. They never even cleaned one room and my mother-in-law was too shy to say anything. The bathroom was so small you couldn't close the door sitting down and the toilet paper roll holder was on the vanity door so everytime we tried to use it the door came open. The shuttle to Port Lucaya that they advertise on their website for $2.50 each way is actually $3 each way, which doesn't sound like alot until you multiply that by two round trips a day for three days for 4 people. Upon check in we were pressed hard to sign up for the timeshare tour. It was automatically presented to us as the final step in registration and I almost fell for it. When I checked out, I told the clerk how disappointed I was and she responded with an "I'm so sorry" ...period. Find someplace else to stay or if you must stay here, get a room on the third floor facing the marina.
"For what you pay, it's not bad"
02/15/15 kristibearr Madison, Wisconsin
It's cheaper than the other hotels, and it's not as nice as some because of that, but it's really not that bad. The staff was much nicer than Taino (where my husband and I stayed), but they are sister resorts, and at night, the staff from Taino go over to Flamingo and hang out in the lobby. There's a lady at the front lobby who is a little intimidating nicknamed "Big Mama" (she insists you call her that). She is the go-to lady if you need info about getting places, or restaurant suggestions. The room my parents stayed in was a 2 bed room. The fan squeaked every time it turned, and the bathroom door needed to be lifted a bit when closing it to make it shut the whole way, but otherwise it was a fine room. Their room was right next to the water ferry, which was very convenient for my father who went on a UNEXO scuba trip. The ferry takes you right to the building where the scuba trip departs from. They also have a nice store in the lobby with lots of snack and drink options. Sunscreen here is quite expensive. $20 for a small bottle of it and they only have 15 or 50 spf in spray style, and 30 in cream style.
"Not worth it. Not at all. Stay somewhere else."
I stayed in the Flamingo Bay Hotel over New Years with a couple girlfriends who are all experienced travelers. We chose this hotel since we're on a budget, but we all realized that paying a little bit extra to stay in the Taino Resort across the street or another hotel in Lucaya would have been well worth it. Our toilet didn't flush the entire week we were there, we often didn't receive fresh towels, the rooms were dank and wifi is only available in the lobby (which is just a couple chairs and a gift shop). One night we were woken up at 2am after being dead asleep for a few hours by a man saying there was a noise complaint from our room. We found out days later they had the room numbers mixed up, but there was no apology and no mention that there was no need to bang on the door of a silent room in the middle of the night! The Taino Beach is beautiful, though, and a ferry leaves on the hour that will take you into Count Basie Square where a bunch of restaurants and shops are. The restaurant on the beach is pretty bad, also the kitchenette in the room only includes a mini fridge and a microwave. Basically stay somewhere else, the island has great snorkeling and beaches and you'll probably have a better time if you come home to a working toilet!
"Ok hotel but the grounds are GREAT"
12/28/14 Aj H Stockton, California
I knew it was a bit on the budget side but the grounds make up for a lot. As part of a bigger resort property you get to totally enjoy the world class pool and a really nice beach. They also have events and other extras (tennis, ping pong, etc). Slight down side to the hotel, a few items didn't work initially (TV, phone) which was a bit odd. Overall, if you are coming here to enjoy the sun and outdoors, this is a good deal, just don't expect a world class room.
"It was okay..."
12/25/14 AlishaL314 Minneapolis, Minnesota
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon and it definitely had its ups and downs. The location of the hotel is great. It is right on the canal with the beach and pool not too far away. There is a restaurant and two bars within walking distance. There are also lots of activities offered, but you will have to pay quite a bit to do any of them (snorkeling, fishing, etc). The room is average. It is just a place to sleep. The bathroom is kind of icky, but useable. The kitchenette doesn't have a stove, but we were able to survive off of it between the microwave and the mini fridge. The front desk ladies are very helpful and friendly. Everyone here is super nice! The maid service here is pretty much awful. They take your towels pretty early in the day, but you'll be lucky if you get them back. We had to go down to the front desk several times to go get towels which was a huge pain in the butt since we wanted to shower after going to the beach. The walls connecting to the neighbors to the left and the right of us are pretty thick, however the wall (the door) connecting to the neighbor across from us is pretty much nonexistent. We could hear everything that they said, between the crying and the yelling. This isn't totally the hotel's fault, but they definitely didn't set up this hotel in a way to block out sounds. Also, one night there was a party boat going on pretty late out on the canal. Overall, it is just a place to stay for the night...even with the hard beds. If you plan on being in your room more than just for the night, this isn't the place for you.
"Fantastic location and wonderful value"
09/20/14 loulou47 Freeport, Grand Bahama Island
The prices are unbelievable. Each room is super clean, very large and has a mini kitchenette. The beach is at 2 minutes walking distance. The gigantic pool is one of the nicest in all the Caribbean with a big water slide and a built-in grotto for the bar where customers sit in the water to be served their drinks. For the price, this place offer the same as other hotels where one would have to pay at least double.
