The Grassmere Inn - Westhampton Beach

It is listed as a bed and breakfast. However, there is no breakfast. There is a small room with a few tables. We were told that if we wanted to have breakfast we could go to the bakery up the street and bring it back. There was no wastebasket in the room and no cup. My husband had to cup his hands to get water to take his pills.

Since all Long Island hotels in a 30 mile range of our required destination were filled due to Sandy, almost six weeks after the storm, we landed here. Westhampton Beach is very quite in December. Very nice bakery and Tony's Fusion Restaurant was great. The Grassmere caters to the tennis crowd with Har Tru Courts and they were closed. Building is older , all was very clean, and the staff and owner were very friendly.

Ok place. Very nice staff. Very accomodating. Very close to town. Place appears to be for sale and shows it. Our room while ok had what appeared to be a leak in the bathroom ceiling down the wall past a window to the floor. Also, loudly talking guests woke us in the early morning.

The good news: Great location with easy access to a charming downtown of boutique stores. Friendly owner. Clean. The not-so-good news: Potholes in the driveway, frayed carpeting, painted porcelain plumbing fixtures that are now peeling. This is a property that's tired.

This establishment was totally unacceptable tor the price we paid and the location where it was located. We knew we were in trouble when we saw the "for sale" signs on the front lawn. We are seasoned travelers and are accustomed to and expected much more than what we found when we arrived at this "bed and breakfast". The place was rundown and unkept. […] While being described as a bed and breakfast, it did not offer breakfast ~ even though I would not have felt comfortable eating there by the looks of the kitchen. The decor in the room was sparse, with only one working light bulb in a two lamp room. We had only one large bath towel for two people. This inn provided the bare minimum, not even supplying toilet paper. It had a TV, but you had to pay extra. There was minimal light in the room and nowhere to sit other than the bed. If you're in the city and the heat's got you down, do yourself a favor and stay at the Grassmere Inn. It's a jump away from NYC on the LIRR (short cab ride from the train station). Once you'll there you can go to the beach or travel around the town. The owner, Peter, will take care of you 100% of the way. we had a nice stay, we had no car and it was close enough tot the beach to walk (20 - 30min) and to the town so we could go to restaurants etc. my only complaint is that the rooms were not insulated well and you could hear people talking in the other rooms.

The inn was not anywhere near the quality one would expect for the area and the price. It felt very much like a college dorm room with incredibly cheap linens and sparse decorations that were selected with no rhyme or reason. The building lacked maintenance outside and in, and I felt like I was inconvenienced the attendant when we were checking in.

The hotel is for sale which may explain the lack of service. No breakfast was provided. The beds were extremely hard. The water coming out of the bathroom sink was orange. When we mentioned breakfast, the employee said she didn't know anything. She was not the owner. She made no offer to reimburse for breakfast. We left as fast as we could.

Cute but not as airy as the pictures. At night you hear all the noises outside, including eveyones conversations in their rooms. It is 10PM and you cannot rest. Not peaceful. Loud-bring earplugs. All the chatter at night is irritating.

So, this B&B is a total dump. The pictures online are OLD - it is rundown and has a big "for sale" sign on the front. There is a house next door which is owned by the B&B which is where our rooms were (we booked 2 rooms). When we first wanted to check in, the rooms weren't ready so we went to the town and grabbed a bite. The B&B check-in area was filthy […] - a total dump. The young woman showed us to our room. The stairs are old and very creaky. In fact, the building looks so rundown, if I didn't know it was a B&B, I would think it was abandoned. The room keys didn't work very well. it took a few minutes to lock the room and you really had to slam the door and hold it tight as you tried to turn the key. The room was sooooo dirty and smelled like old man. The bed made a pull out mattress seem comfortable. The rooms were not clean and there were paint chips everywhere. The TV was about 11 inches and very very old (my friend in the next room didn't have a remote for her TV). Because we were staying in the building next door, if we needed to use an iron, we had to go outside and walk to the next building. The Grassmere Inn is a beautiful hotel in an old mansion - style house, but a bit run down and in need of maintenance. Bekamen ein kostenloses Upgrade auf ein Zimmer mit eigenem Bad.Dieses hatte allerdings eine Verbindungstür zum Badezimmers des Nachbarn.Man hörte alo genau,was sich dort ereignete.Frühstück gibt es im Winter nicht.Man kann aber den Speisesaal und den sich dort befindenden Kühlschrank nutzen.Der war aber leider nicht sauber.Im Zimmer essen und trinken […] ist nicht erwünscht.Wenn man dot nur zum Schlafen ist , dann okey,aber mehr nicht.Die Umgebung ist auch wirklich schön.Aber das Hotel eben schon sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Wer ein paar halbwegs günstige Tage in den Hamptons verbringen möchte, ist im Grassmere Inn gut aufgehoben. Für ein Bed & Breakfast Zimmer zahlt man andernorts sicherlich weniger, aber die Hamptons gehören nun mal zu den vornehmeren Urlaubsadressen. Die Lage zwischen Stadtzentrum und Strand könnte nicht besser sein, Hotel und Garten sind sehr charmant. […] Dieser Charme hat allerdings auch Nachteile: Das Haus ist sehr hellhörig, auf heißes Wasser mussten wir im Bad gelegentlich länger warten (Achtung, Heimwerker!).
