Travel Inn - Chula Vista

i paid for a smoking room and there was no smoking allowed at all anywhere, when i cancelled this reservation and tried another hotel and had no luck finding one when i went to rebook the room they wanted double. it was dirty and small and charged extra for everything. it was a horrible part of town.

You pay for too much for renting a room. The room was not even clean, and u have found a needle in my room. The pool and hot tub was always dirty. Not much for service either.

The area was undesirable. They gave me a room without a working heater.Burned stains on the tub and furniture. Wall paper hanging of the walls, dingy towels. It reminded me of something in a 3rd world country.

I thought the location was OK, and the motel was very quiet. They need to change out their towel though. The bath towels are old, dingy, small and very thin. The definately need to upgrade towels. Staff was extremely helpful and nice. The hotel itself is not a gem but allows pets, good location, and nice staff. The parking is horrible especially on the weekend where you get all the party kids. Not very quiet when they are there. Overall a solid 3. You pay for what you get.

I would never stay here again the smell of the room was so bad we had to by disinfectant spray. The doors were felty, the shower had mold on the ceiling I wiped the nightstand with wipes and it was black, overall this room was a nightmare. The neighborhood would not be safe walking alone. My room was burglarized at this hotel while I was out to dinner, and there was no sign of forced entry. My laptop, phone, and car keys were stolen, and the burglars attempted to steal my car, but since it's a Prius, they apparently didn't know how to start it. The Chula Vista police officer who took my report told me that Anglos on the 4th floor of […] the hotel are common targets for robbery, and that the trailer park next to the hotel is a congregation area for local gangs. The room itself (#406) was very dark, and the furniture was atrocious, with most surfaces--including the bathtub--exhibiting signs of cigarettes having been rested on their edge. This was a non-smoking room. The desk, the dresser, the nightstand, the bathtub, and the washbasin all had ancient burn marks all along their edges. They looked to be at least 20 years old. Both my bedspread and one of my sheets had cigarette burn holes. The television appeared to be at least 20 years old as well, a sad old unit with a curved, 16-inch screen that had burn-in and displayed about 6 colors total. The spa was down for repairs. I've traveled pretty extensively, and aside from a rural hotel outside of San Jose, Costa Rica infested with flying cockroaches and Black Widow spiders, this is the worst hotel experience I've had. We called ahead to see if we could check in early (normal check in at 3pm) and were told we could come at 1pm. Arrived at 1pm and were told the room wasn't ready. We had just driven for 8.5 hours to get there and needed to rest, so I explained the importance of us getting into a room. Spent 15 minutes listening to the unorganized staff tell us about […] how busy they were, blah blah blah. They couldn't find credit card numbers from other guests, couldn't find my reservation, the office had no AC and was uncomfortable and muggy to stand in for such a long time. Finally got into our room, found hair on the bathroom floor, no towels in the bathroom, but other than that the room was relatively clean. The bed was old and uncomfortable and so were the pillows. No remote to the TV, but there was a mini fridge. Overall, I would not reccomend this hotel to anyone. Read more

The t.v is from the 70's the numbers on the phone do not call the the front desk to get help with the bad free internet connection. The area is bad the room is old and the help and the front desk is rude. The front desk person at night was so excited that two people booked two rooms she scanned all the room keys to one room. I had actually veered away from this hotel originally because of some of the bad reviews. I have to say, I'm glad I went by my gut because this place was fine for my needs. Don't expect Hilton quality, you know what you're getting : a clean room with refrigerator, clean bath, and friendly service. There was a watermark near the entance on both the ceiling […] and rug, but this isn't unexpected for a room like this - there was no moisture there when I was there. The bed was very comfortable, and the place was perfect for my needs ( comic con). On top of that, it was close to comic con, less than 20 minutes to Petco Park parking. i was told a trolley was nearby as well, but didn't use it. This hotel was disgusting. The elevator and room smelled like urine. The carpets and bedding were soiled and disgusting. We did not pull the covers back to see what the rest of the bed looked like -- we weren't there long enough. We stayed no more than 15 minutes before checking out and finding a different hotel. The television was at least 30 years […] old, and barely worked, and the wifi which was used just long enough to find a new hotel was spotty at best. Travel Inn was a much improved room over our first night at Motel 6. The non-smoking room smelled clean and not smoked in (cannot say that about Motel 6). We would like to comment that while we were pleased, we were not satisfied that they charged for ice. Ice should be complementary to its guests.

The beds were fantastic, very comfortable. The decor was old and dated. The TV was probably 30 years old and the reception was horrible. looks good form the outside, not terrible on the inside. If my wife had been with me, we'd be in another hotel / Inn. As long as they make it a point to fumigate monthly for the next year, the roaches will probably die off. Television, and Internet worked. Slow internet, had to call the front desk for the password. Very nice staff !!!

To start the phone was from double tree and had their phone # on it. The tv was made in the 80"s as was the bed. When we arrived at the hotel, they told us that they didn't have our reservation. After calling Expedia, Expedia told us that the hotel refused to honor our reservation because they where unhappy with the price that we paid. The Travel Inn woman tried to haggle with Expedia and get out of honoring the reservation. This caused about a 3 hour delay in […] getting to our hotel. Expedia performed admirably in finding us another, better hotel in San Diego the Thursday morning of Comicon at no additional charge to us. They also gave me a credit on my Expedia account.
