The hotel and it's employees are great. The majority of the employees know english. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. This hotel is very highly recommended. The room and grounds were exceptional.

What a wonderful establishment! From the moment we walked in the door, we were treated like royalty. The concierge, Jonathan and Manager, Jorge, went out of their way to make us feel like we were right at home. Not only was the staff amazing, but the rooms were to die for. We chose the Nayara Suite because it was our honeymoon and we were thrilled. We had the most amazing view of the Arenal Volcano with a cozy private hot tub on the balcony. Each room provides you with all personal hygiene items at no extra charge. The rooms were impeccably clean and eco-friendly. They also provide complimentary bottled water with all private tours and shuttles and free international phone calls from their lobby. The complimentary breakfast was amazing and each morning we were offered freshly squeezed pineapple, papaya, or passion fruit juice in addition to strong Costa Rican coffee. The landscaping is mesmerizing and the wildlife is abundant. We cannot express how much we appreciate Nayara Suites. Anytime we visit Costa Rica in the future, we will be staying at this hotel. In Costa Rica, they say "Pura Vida" which basically means "the good life". We left SCREAMING "Pura Vida!" Thank you for the honeymoon vacation of a lifetime. It was worth every penny and more. The Nayara was by far one of the best resorts we have stayed at. Our room was spacious, beds comfy, interior decorated with ornate wooden furniture, spacious indoor double head stand-up rain showers, outdoor garden showers, jacuzzi tub & hammock on the private deck!! We were in heaven. The perfect NYC escape. Food was delicious...even the breakfast […] buffet (which says a lot coming from extremely picky NY foodies). Lot's of fresh fruit and drinks. Johnny & Elquin make all guests feel very welcome, offer great service and mix some of the best cocktails, always with a smile. All the staff is very helpful and pleasant. Meet Carlota the resident Macaw- she's adorable and a crowd-pleaser. It is a very couples-friendly resort, almost every couple we met was on their honeymoon or celebrating an anniversary. For those considering destination weddings: only very intimate ceremonies could be held here as their ceremony space could only hold about 25-30 guests. The biggest negative we encountered was that the pool bar closes at 8pm. The management informed us this was due to concerns about potential rowdiness disturbing guests staying in rooms nearby. Although the guests didn't seem like the boisterous types... if you are so inclined the management will invite you to take the wine and beer from your minibar to the communal jacuzzi area -- which is private, but still within earshot of several cabanas. We left from New York and it was a lot of hours of travel for only 5 nights that we were there . We regreted that we didn't stay in Costa Rica enough days. Many of the couples went to Nayara for three or four days and then stayed a few days by one of the beaches. We wished we would've known this beforehand. Just because its so much travel to get there. However the hotel could not be more romantic. We did a romantic dinner for my birthday and it was so beautiful!! Definitely recommend it for special occasions-anniversaries, act. Activities wise I recommend the volcano national park of course and the cascada !! We weren't really impressed with the Eco-termales (hot springs). My Husband and I went to this hotel for our honeymoon. It was absolutely amazing. All the rooms have views of the volcano and the hotel staff is superb. When we checked in we were greeted by friendly faces and tropical smoothies. We stayed in a casita and the whole set up is like you are in a dream. Not sure if hotel is the proper term as it seemed more like a resort. My wife and I had a wonderful stay from 10/22-10/29/11. The grounds are wonderfully landscaped and kept clean. We booked all our excursions through them and they were more than helpful when we wanted to change things around. Randall and Tony at the pool bar were always friendly and quick to fill requests. It semed like whenever the bar was caught up, they circulated the pool area to see if anyone needed anything. The wine bar proved to be a nice place to relax in the evening. The food in the restaurant was always very good. The included breakfast buffet changed slightly everyday and the omelets were always good. The lunch and dinner menu were varied and everything we tried we enjoyed. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. The location of the property made trips to town and van rides to excursions relatively easy. When considering where to stay in Arenal, I must admit I was a little concerned about whether Nayara would be on par with my high standards. When I arrived at the Hotel, I soon realized that Nayara would far exceed all my expectations. This place is great. What is so amazing […] about this place is the attention to detail. No expense was spared to ensure the highest quality of service. Nayara is by far the best hotel in the area and the only negative is that you will be so spoiled it will be hard to enjoy another hotel that does not meet the Nayara standard. A lot of debate around this hotel centers around whether it is better than the Tabacon, the other high quality hotel in the area. Aware of this debate I took a trip to the Tabacon to compare. While the Tabacon is a great hotel too, I truly believe that Nayara is better because each guest has their own cabana with absolute privacy. At the Tabacon all guests stay in the same building which in my opinion undermines the quality. Thus, I would recommend staying at the Nayara over the Tabacon. Overall, a really nice place to stay. Prior to staying at Nayara, we stayed at El Silencio del Campo, which was significantly less expensive. El Silencio was more casual (more of a "cabin" atmosphere), but the service was excellent (and more genuine). El Silencio also has it's own hot spring, which was great (and free of charge). So if your staying in the Arenal region for 5 nights or more and you're on somewhat of a budget (but still want to splurge at some point), do what we did in this order: 3 nights at El Silencio and 2 nights at Nayara. We enjoyed our stay at the Arenal Nayara Hotel in Costa Rica. The room was amazing; we felt very secluded in our own little villa yet close to the amenities of the resort. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We ate most of our meals at the resort and the food was good. The bartender at the pool made great drinks especially the Mojito's!!! […] We enjoyed both the resort and Costa Rica very much. The resort lobby has laptops for use by the guests so there is no need to bring one. They also have a phone to call the states which was very helpful keeping in touch with famiy back home.. Everything about the hotel was great. But just be aware it rains A LOT even in the dry season. The joke is are two seasons in LaFortuna: the rainy season and the rainier season. Also be aware the the volcano was inactive during our stay Feb 2011 and has been been inactive since Oct 2010. And it is pretty much always covered with clouds anyway.

Great hotel. Only recommendation is have a rental car in this area. Taxi cab rides in this area are very expensive and we didn't do as much as we wanted due to lack of transportation. Hotel is by itself and not in walking distance of anything!
