Punpreeda is up the hill a bit from the touristy Fisherman's Village, but still has its own slice of quiet beach. We loved the private plunge pool! And the room came with a bottle of wine, which was lovely. The breakfast is included and served in the room at a time of your choosing, which was really nice. The construction across the street was a bit […] of a noisy inconvenience, but we only stayed for one night so it wasn't a big deal. I recently travelled to Thailand with 3 friends. We chose to stay at Punnpreeda Pool Villas Beachfront Samui because we could stay in a 2 bedroom villa together with enough room to hang out and relax and Hotels.com was offering a great deal on the place. Punnpreeda gives you a lot for the value. Free-standing cottages with plunge pools, privacy, room service, ocean views, etc. HOWEVER there is a lot lacking as well. First of all, the rooms are visibly run down. Walls are scuffed, there was some mold in the showers and fixtures were a bit worse for wear. This is not a resort, meaning that outside of […] your own cottage, there is no restaurant, bar or any other common area. The beach is tiny and not conducive for swimming or laying out. Furthermore, there aren't really lounge chairs provided for the beach. The staff is friendly but not overly knowledgeable about tours, restaurants, etc. They would basically offer us brochures without having an opinion. The location in Bophut is close to the airport and the pier there but that's it. Best nightlife and beaches are at least 20 min away. This hotel is great for privacy and that's it. I was under the impression that it was at Bophut beach but it's actually at Bangrak. The sea bed is quite rocky with lots of shells so you cannot go into the water, otherwise it's a nice beach. Bophut beach is just a 15 min walk down the main road away. It's a much better beach with alot more shops and eateries. The hotal is relatively more isolated […] where u have to walk 15 min in either direction for anything. The bigger rooms especially in the 800's & 900's are very nice. We were in a 1 BHK (701), all the 700's are 1 BHK & they have some problem with some drainage in the bathtubs. There was a horrible smell of hydrogen sulphide coming from the drains. The 1st few hours of our honeymoon were spent chasing the hotel staff to fix the problem. The staff were very friendly & tried their best but the smell was only reduced not completely eliminated. So when we weren't showering we used to plug the drain & fill a few drops of water around the plug to form a seal. At least that way it didn't smell the whole time. They said we could take a bigger room but would have to pay 1000 Baht extra per nite which wasn't possible for us. The pool was also quite filthy. They didn't clean it immediately despite repeated requests. On the 3rd day it was cleaned with chemicals nicely after which we enjoyed the pool. When we arrived the pool was dirty and half empty. The airconditioner was not on so the room was hot for the first few hours. All food ordered from room service was cold and of very poor quality. Short walk along the beach to a bar/cafe for great food. walk a little further to Bangrak beach (about 10 mins) very nice beach, 7-eleven, massage, bars and restaurants. Fishermans village is a short cab ride in the other direction (use the hotel transport if poss as it is cheaper - 100BHT), it is walkable but would avoid walking at night as there is no pavement and the road is quite busy- you can walk halfway along the beach but have to get on the road for some of it. FV is lovely, great for shopping, food etc especially Friday night walking street!! Hotel also provides a free shuttle bus to Chaweng beach - limited times though. Punnpreeda Pool Villa Beachfront, with just 13 villas, was ideal for the sort of holiday we wanted. The villas were not too close to each other, and in our beachfront villa we felt total privacy, yet it was just a short walk to reception/transport pick-up. The plunge-pool was a little too small for anything other than cooling-off, and not enough decking […] around the pool, but clean and well-maintained. The breakfasts (delivered to the villa) were on time, but anything cooked was barely warm when delivered. The staff were charming, and most helpful with any problems we encountered. A charge for making a less than one minute local mobile call (including the attempted calls when the line was busy) of THB700 was the only complaint. Overall our stay was delightful, the grounds and apartments were well maintained and newly renovated. The location is a ten minute stroll from the french influenced fishermans village and a 300 baht taxi ride from the main drag. A customer service rep for the hotel chain offers to take you on a brief island tour however ends up heckling you to buy time shares in the resort and constantly contacts you from this point until the end of your stay. We had organized late check out however at 10am we received a call to check out as the next guests had arrived to check in, they allowed us to continue on until midday and then proceeded to charge us for late check out and the airport transfer which was forgotten. Unfortunately the spa bath was worn out- rusted jets and the plumbing a bit ordinary- there was a constant odour from the pipe vents in the bathrooms. We got sick of breakfast in our room in the end and wished we'd stayed at a resort with a restaurant by the pool. The pool, although tiny was pleasant and clean. If you are after complete privacy, a private beach and don't wish to eat outside your room at breakfast, this place offers all that. When we arrived here, we were shocked at the condidtion the resort was in. The bathroom had not been cleaned and even had mould growing on the blinds. The deck around the pool was so weathered you could have pushed through the timber. To top off this shock, there wasn't hot water in the shower. This was awful and had to move hotels. First of all […] this is a small resort with only about 15 villas, we stayed in a beach front villa that provided wonderful views across the bay to Big Budda. Don't get excited about the beach which is non-existent, however we knew this when booked so no shakes. The villa itself is really big with plenty of space for a family with two large bedrooms, kitchen area, dining area and plenty of sofas to chill. Breakfast was always delivered at the time asked and was excellent quality. It was also a nice touch to provide free chilled beers, soft drinks and Thai whiskey. The staff were so lovely, friendly and helpful, you can not ask for better hosts. Punnpreeda is in a perfect location to explore Koh Samui and it's beaches. We hired a car for the duration which gave us the freedom to come and go as we pleased. We knew the resort had no beach but we wanted to try out the beaches which were mostly within about 10-15 minutes i.e. Choeng Mon, Maenam, Bophut, etc so lots of options for a great day at the beach, we were also close to Fishermans Village which was great for evening meals. My first time in Thailand was great and being at the Pumpreeda Pool Villa has helped it to be even better. The rooms (we stayed in two different rooms) were great. The fact that there was a private swiming pool in each room's backyard was fantastic. The staff was very kind. Most of them could communicate perfectly in English. Also, the shuttle service was very good and in case one wants to use it as a cab service, it is cheapper, more reliable and less dodgy than the local taxi services. Just have in mind that you won;t be able to enjoy the beach that's just in front of the hotel because it is not very good but commuting to better beaches is very easy with the hotel staff assistance. Vi fik et rigtig godt til ud på en villa med seaview grunden til at vi valgte dette hotel) til 2 personer. Men da vi kom blev vi virkelig skuffet, man kunne overhovedet ik se vandet og det kunne man heller ik fra de 2 andre villa som de viste os. Da vi klagede blev de ved med at sige at der var seaview, men til sidst blev vi nødt til at skrue bissen […] på og sige at de enten måtte give os noget med havudsigt ellers ville have pengene retur. Vi blev så opgraderet til en front villa lige ud til stranden og dobbelt størrelse(4 pers.).ud over dette var det et fantastisk roligt sted. Dejligt med egen pool, rigtig god service og ok morgenmad. God villa der er dejlig stor og ren. Stranden er ik så god med der ligger en 10 min. væk. Den ligger i forbindelse med en rigtig hyggelig lille by der hedder Fishermans Village, med gode restauranter og små butikker. Der er ca. 15-20 min ind til Chaweng som er en rigtig turistby med mange butikker, restauranter og massageklinikker. Byen er ik hyggelig men god strand. Det koster 300 baht og man ska ik betale mere!! Alt i alt nød vi vores rolige ferie i fred og ro ved poolen med en god bog og god udsigt!!! Great hotel. Normally would not afford this hotel, but got good deal since it's off-season. Can not really compare to other high class hotels since I haven't been to many, but the service was great, the Villa was excellent and the small private pool on the porch was very cosy. All the villas have sea view (as far as I could tell), but they are not […] all "on" the beach, some are a bit higher up, and have a bit more limited view. They upgrades us when we arrived, so we got a villa with an extra room and bathroom. Not that we really needed another room, but it was a nice gesture. The idea of this hotel is that you get a private vacation. You have your villa and your pool and they bring the breakfast to your villa. There is no public pool or restaurant. Would recommend nearby Fishermans Village for charming restaurants and pubs on the beach, and some touristy shopping. However the best restaurant is just a 2 minute drive, called Orgasmic. The staff will drive you to these places (for a small fee of course), but we had to take taxi back, and as with all Samui, the taxis here charge a lot more than in Bangkok. It's quite ironic that the taxis all have big signs saying "Taxi-meter", but they are all refuse to drive by meter, but it possible to haggle a little (but not much). The massages at the hotel is some of the best I've had in Thailand, and while it's quite a bit more expensive than what you get in for instance fishermans village it's pretty nice to get massage under the palm tree on the sun bed next to the pool, at your villa. The beach below the hotel is not that great, it's very rocky. You can walk along the beach for a short while to get to better sands, but the beach still felt a bit dirty, and could have used a bit of clean up, but still acceptable for a swim. Maybe it was cause it was off-season. Don't know if they clean it better at high-season. Have seen better beaches in Thailand though.
