In Naples they say: "You see Naples and then you die..." So true!!! what a wonderful hotel!!! The staff was very helpful and friendly, just like the people in Naples and the hotel is gorgeous!!! I stayed here with my husband and two-year old and we enjoyed our stay very much. We wished we had brought our own pillows (they were hard and flat and there were only two) but the bathroom made up for it. There was a shared terrace. The hotel was very convenient...once you found it. Even our cab driver (who grew up in Naples) had never heard of the […] street that it was located on and had to ask other cab drivers for directions; several of which had also never heard of the street. My only real complaint was that one of the women working the desk recommended we take a bus to the train station...TERRIBLE ADVICE! The busses in Naples are awful. Both my husband and I are very well-traveled and we were totally disgusted by our experience on the bus. First off, they are so crowded you can't even see your own feet. They are full of pick-pockets and creeps. I felt like the woman at the hotel totally led us astray by recommending the busses. It's about 10-15 euros to get to the train station via taxi and worth every cent. Or better yet, WALK! It's only a mile or two away. It was not enough to dock the hotel--which otherwise had impeccable service--any points but it was enough to be annoyed. They also had a difficult time finding our reservation since it was through hotels.com but in the end it all worked out. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we were in Naples. The mini bar was fully stocked with refreshments at prices lower than the corner market. The room itself was gorgeous, clean, and inviting. The bathroom was the best on our trip! Most importantly, the staff answered all of our many questions about Naples, and even spent twenty minutes on the phone helping us reserve a rental car for the next day. The hotel was in an undesirable part of town. We did not feel safe in this area and made sure we were in before dark. The staff was extremely courteous and the best part of the stay. Rooms were sparse with no shelf or dresser space for clothing or to place suitcase. Was convenient to the port.

The staff was extremely helpful. Our room was quite spacious for European standards. The shower had great water pressure. The bed was very comfortable. It looks a little sketchy when you first arrive, but inside is very nice. The only problem we had was that our room was very warm even though it was cool outside.

Taxi drivers take you to the wrong hotel, so be careful. They also rip you off, as the drive should be only 20 euros. Hotel entrance is sketchy but beautiful once you get up to the 2nd floor of the actual hotel. The surrounding neighborhood leaves something to be desired.

We were able to walk to the hotel from the port, where we had arrived from Capri. We were also able to walk from the hotel to the airport bus and the central train station with no problems. This was in addition to being able to walk to sites we wanted to see or to bus stops that took us to those sites. It was great to be close enough to come back to the hotel and rest in the afternoon between sites. Hotel staff recommended wonderful restaurants where we had great service and food. When we pulled up to the hotel, we were quite anxious because we were told by the cab driver that we were in the 'historic' part of Naples (read "old"). This was my mistake really as we didn't realist quite how undesirable as a tourist destination Naples is ( especially in August). We wanted to visit Pompeii and now know what you should do is go to Sorrento - and avoid Naples as advised by most in the know. The hotel is well placed in the centre BUT the area is terrible. We arrived and picked our way […] through rubbish filled streets - think broken bottles, mattresses & fridges and you get the picture. Not nice - past the sounds of people fighting, into a dark alley to get to the hotel. We didn't feel safe despite what the lovely reception staff said. Getting around in taxis was also a challenge. Despite having fixed fares, we were shouted at and threatened until we paid more, and one driver who couldn't find the hotel despite showing him the map, dumped us on the side of the road to find our own way. Hotel itself is slightly 1970s faded feel, but I'd say a basic motel type needing a bit of TLC. 3* ish. What made it lovely was the very good staff, who we the only people who were polite to us the whole time ( think dismissive rude waiters and bored service desk clerks and you get the idea of service in Naples). Only gripe was A/C which you have to have reset every 2 h as it reverts back to 28oC of general areas and looses its room settign, and it's controlled at reception. I spent most nights calling up every few hrs asking them to reset which is crazy. My advice, go to LOVELY sorrento & get boat to Naples. Read more
