Our stay was extremely pleasant - the hotel is in great condition and the decorating is very well done. It is right in Biltmore Village, across the street from the entrance into the Biltmore Estate. So disappointing to arrive and learn that your room is in "The Annex". This is across a busy street from the main property, and it can take 4-5 minutes to walk there because of the traffic light. The room is fine, but it is completely separate from the main property and all it's charms. The annex is sterile compared to the main property. "Very Unexpected Dissapointment"
My wife and I stayed at the Bohemian recently while vacationing in Asheville and had an incredibly bad experience. As an aside, this was truly the first aggregious experience I have had at any hotel which would warrant such a review. The hotel and rooms are beautiful- but Incredibly Noisy. The first night, we kept hearing loud banging noises (such as […] pipes or metallic objects being hit) next door. This went on sporatically from 9pm to 12:30am. We tried I ignore it at first- bc we love how gorgeous it was- but finally realized we could not sleep. I went to the front desk I complain about the noise. With little empathy, he offered to move us to another room. He noted- "the 3rd floor should be much more quiet than the 2nd". This statement alone concerned me because he initially responded to me with disbelief but now it seemed he was acknowledging a common noise problem. When we get to our room, we realize he moved us to a space which was significantly smaller. When we got settled in, we then heard another loud noise- this time coming from outside. I looked out and realized the noise was a cleaning service vacuuming the hotel's shuttle vans. I'm not sure which bothered me more- 1) management chose to have the vacuuming done at 1am, or 2) that the hotel was so noisy we could hear vacuuming from the third floor while in our room. Again, I went down to complain and was met with very little compassion. "Convenient to the Biltmore - beautiful hotel!"
The hotel staff was great and made our stay in Asheville even better. Thoroughly impressed with the experience of staying at this hotel. The exterior is a mix of Tudor style and lodge and fits in well with the Biltmore Village. The art adorning the walls combined with the feeling of a wilderness lodge in the lobby made the whole place feel warm and inviting. "I suppose it wasn't all their fault"
So, my wife and I wanted to take a vacation to Biltmore before our baby comes, I splurged and got this hotel. 2 nights. While the facilities were great, many things just weren't good. Our room was spacious and comfortable but let it be known that if you stay in one of the king suites, you will have to walk across the street to your room. Not very fun […] in Asheville in winter. We got to the hotel at 4pm (check in time) and our room wasn't ready for 15-20 minutes. The following day, the water was off for 5 hours (water main break, not their fault, but disappointing when you have a huge garden tub that your pregnant wife wants to use as many times as possible). We were woken up at 845am by a maid Saturday morning who didn't understand why I was upset that she wanted to clean my room that early. Fine, no big deal. One hour later a bell hop came by and tried to take our bags, when we weren't due to check out until the following day. Seriously, did they not want us there? Now, we went to the concierge downstairs (across the street) and were given $75 to spend at their high-priced restaurant, the Red Stag Grille. This made things a bit better. When we checked out, the bell hop managed to break a VERY nice bottle of wine on the sidewalk that my wife had bought for herself to have after our child is born. Icing on the cake. "Right across from Biltmore"
Luxury Hotel! The decor was very nice. The bed was extremely comfortable. They do give complimentary champagne for special occasions. I do have a few gripes, though. We stayed in the Manor House, which I had no idea was across a moderately busy street. Having to walk across the street to get the car, or even go to the hotel bar, was a little aggravating, […] especially when it's cooler outside. Also, we didn't have an ice machine on our floor. The front desk rep didn't know where it was, either. Had to get room service to find it...which was on the third floor. We stayed on the second floor. The sound-proofing isn't the best. They should give complimentary bottled water...just a couple. The Evian in the room costs $5! The breakfast was pricey, and not the best. Kind of wish we had just gotten a quick breakfast from the neighboring Hardee's or Starbucks. The staff was very, very nice, especially the front desk representatives. There was always coffee, or cider, in the lobby. It's within walking distance of some really nice local shops and cafes, and high-end retail stores. I loved the overall atmosphere of the hotel. The hotel is sort of in between the Biltmore Estate & downtown Asheville. You need a car to get to both, but it's only about 5 min drive to either place. The trolley stops right at the hotel, which is so convenient, epecially if you don't want to drive. There are shops & restaurants within walking distance in the village. The hotel is beautiful, and the rooms are stylish, but I was disappointed about how many little charges there were, parking is extra, a bottle of water is 5 dollars, etc. For what we paid per night, you'd think they could throw in a bottle of water. "Not what we expected"
On arrival we were directed to a desk in the main room ( ? ) of the Grand Bohemian where a staff member gave directions, took reservations and handled our registration. No signage, sitting areas or anything that resembled a hotel registration room. We were assigned a room in the Bohemian annex which is across a busy street from the hotel. The room itself […] was satisfactory BUT the toilet did not have a door. Instead the doorway was covered with a curtain. The same for the entire wall between the bathroom and the bedroom. "Nice hotel but not worth the cost"
I booked this hotel for one night while visiting the Biltmore. I was slightly disappointed about the experience versus the cost. I did not like the fact that I had to cross the street with my bags, in the rain and then try and figure out where to go. When I checked in I was handed a set of keys and just told to cross the street. Once I got there, I […] didn't know what floor to go to and there was not anyone manning the desk for me to ask.
