Hollow Inn and Motel - Barre

Not a very nice area, simple things needed to be taken care of, like missing caulk around sink. Overall it was cheap, clean, and the bed was very comfy. Not a place to stay, but perfect for a crash pad while I was in the area.

The Hollow Inn was a great place to stay. We lodged in the main building and the rooms were very spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast provided was very good and in a nice setting. The inn is located near Norwich University which was helpful as we were there to visit our son. The room rates were quite reasonable.

Needed a hotel in the area that was pet friendly, only one of 2 in area. Room was huge, a bit dated but plenty comfortable. More than enough room for us and the dog and suited us fine. Updates are being made so it is a work in progress but nice for a pet friendly reasonably priced stay.

A cheap place to stay if you need to go skiing. Large spacious rooms are smelly and the temperature fluctuates wildly when the heat goes on. I will only go back if I have to.

The hotel's heating units were not working in any of the three rooms that my coworkers and I stayed in. Space heaters were provided but the rooms were still not warm. The staff, although tried to accommodate us, they were not able to fix any of the issues we had. Other than the heat, our showers leaked and the power went out in one of the rooms.

I was very upset with my stay at The Hollow Inn. The power to the room was an issue and I'm sure this could not have been the first time. The room probably should never have been booked as it lost power six times during the evening and I slept with no lights and more importantly no heat. It was quite chilly and as nice as the management was to resetting […] the circuit breaker, it just kept cutting out. After 10 PM I was unable to get any response to my phone calls and therefore had to sleep with no heat. The management had no power to credit my stay as it was booked through you. This turned out to be very comfortable and i wasn't expecting it to be so. i had to book it since there were few available spaces by the time I booked it. Very convenient to the exit off I-89. I didn't eat the breakfast, but I did look it over and it seemed more than adequate. The room was clean and comfortable. I recommend it.

I read a lot of hit or miss comments about this hotel before booking, so I wasn't sure what to expect. A lot of the hotels we'd stayed in Vermont were tiny, converted homes so the Hollow Inn was a nice change. We had a "deluxe" room so I'm not sure if I can speak for the rest of the hotel, but our room was was huge. The room was nicely furnished, looked […] as if it had been renovated somewhat recently (except for maybe the curtains.) The bathroom tile looked like it could could use a good scrubbing, but we found the rest of the room to be super clean and comfortable. The wifi at this hotel was the fastest of any of the hotels we stayed on our trip and allowed us to back-up all of our pictures while we slept. the room was dirty. if it wasn't late when we checked in we would have left. the blankets had holes in them that were sown closed... room smelled. the best part of the room was the tv. we were up and out by 630am. with 3 kids. i didn't take my socks off for fear of what was on the floor!

Barre does not have much, and there is not really much to pick from. The Hollow Inn surpassed expectations as it was clean, safe, friendly, and our air conditioner worked great. There was a large breakfast available (did not try it) and the desk staff made good dinner recommendations. The room was very nice, spacious and clean, except the bathtub tile could have used a spray of bleach and a little elbow grease to remove some mildew. The small staff were very nice, however the breakfast was rather skimpy, I suspect it was because I was there off-season when very few guests were staying.

This is an older hotel that could use some refurbishing. the bathrooms need new tubs because the tub floors are gray/black due to many years of poor cleaning. The sink drains are rotted for same reason. However, the beds are exceptionally clean, high quality, and super comfortable. This hotel has various kinds of rooms and booking deluxe seems to be an efficiency room in the hotel. Room is very old, floor, bedding and general room condition. The pillows are old and have stains as does the blanket. There is a coffee maker (old and dingy), a fridge (very old, but works) and a microwave. Pros: The room was large and beds were not uncomfortable. Cons: The room had a musty odor when we arrived and it looked as though the doors and door frames around the doorknob area hadn't been cleaned for a long time. The remote control for the television was missing from the room. The pool water appeared to be filled with green algae.

Old building in need of major maintenance. Room was relatively clean and plenty of space. The common parts of the hotel (stairs, aisles) were worn out and not clean. Breakfast was very cheap. Management not customer oriented. For the price paid we did not receive the value we expected.

I've stayed at the Hollow several times but never in the 100's section of the building. It must be older than the other buildings, it was run down and needed some TLC. I'll ask to book in the newer section, the series of 200 rooms next time.
