"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.

We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.
""Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.
"Nice hotel in the theatre district"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very nice hotel in the theatre district. Friendly and helpful staff. Basic room accomodations but very clean. Would recommend.

The landmark Brooklyn Bridge links Manhattan with the city’s most populous borough. Waterfront Brooklyn Heights offers superb views of Lower Manhattan. Renowned for its brownstones and leafy neighborhoods, Brooklyn embodies America’s “melting pot.” Italian, Mexican, Chinese, and Jewish communities add to the cultural mix. Highlights include Coney Island, Prospect Park, and Brooklyn Museum of Art.

This was my first stay at NU Hotel and my first in Brooklyn as well. I stayed here only b/c my daughter had a function at the Marriott down the street. Anyway, the NU hotel was great. I was greeted with a very friendly guy who handled my check-in quickly and efficiently. The decor in the lobby (which also serves as the bar/restaurant) was hip with clean […] lines and minimalistic. My room was on the 3rd floor, #307. It was right across from the elevator which was kind of a bummer because it was a little noisy - but overall was not a problem or distraction at all. Next time I would ask for a different room, if available. The room itself was great. Nice flat screen tv, great bed, side table/chair, mini-bar, safe, etc. The bathroom was large by NYC standards (as was the room itself). The odd thing was that the shower fixtures were in the middle of the shower stall, rather than on the end. The result was that you had a rather small spot to stand between the shower head and the shower curtain - but again, not a big deal. Just odd. I did not eat the breakfast (which was included), but did grab a bagel on my way out on Day 2. I had a glass of wine in the bar and snacked on some goodies - reasonably priced. Anyway, I rate this hotel a 4 for amenities, roominess, 'hipness', value, and most of all, the friendliness of the staff. Well done. . Read more
"Good location, spacious room"
When I first walked in the lobby area my reaction was..... this is not going to be good. But the room I had was very nice and large for a NYC hotel room. The bathroon lighting was to dim for my liking and the breakfast area & offerings had a lot of room for improvement but there is a good restauraut that is open 24/7 on the next corner. I don't mean […] to discourage anyone regarding this hotel; out of the 5 hotels in the Brooklyn area that I am familar with this one is #2 on my preference list, right behind the Marriott by the Brooklyn Bridge which is pricey. The hotel was being renovated. so we met with painters in the lobby when we arrived on Saturday afternoon. There was no wine bar, under construction, we certainly did not want to have breakfast in the tight quarters that was available. Our room was 206? and on Sunday/Monday night the noice, I believe from plumming, was unbearable. I complained about […] it when we were leaving, but no reaction from the young lady at the reception. The room was what we expected (lovelY) and the location excellent. We came to Brooklyn to celebrate my big birthday with family. Dr. & Mrs. M. Read more
"Comfortable, clean, and convenient"
After staying in some awful places in Brooklyn for the same price, it was refreshing to find someplace that was convenient for accessing the subway, clean, and comfortable (and surprisingly quiet, too). We'd definitely make this our home base on another NY trip.

A beautiful, sleek, and convenient hotel in downtown Brooklyn. The hotel staff was friendly and so helpful. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in.

"NU Hotel- perfect for the traveler"
Excellent price, beautiful place, friendly, small, close to subways and excellent restaurants. Couldn't have asked for anything better
"Nu Hotel is really New"
Enjoyed my stay at the very chic, very beautiful Nu Hotel in Brooklyn. The decor is modern with a chromed spotless shine. Surprised that the rooms were tiled, not carpeted which I would have prefered. I definitely would stay again. Great neighborhood.
"NU Hotel - walking distance to great dining"
The NU hotel is modern and comfortable. The design is efficient. Rooms include small luxuries like a mini Keurig coffee maker. Bed was very comfortable and the sheets and blankets soft. Staff is very helpful. Breakfast includes bagels but would be improved with cream cheese.
"We felt like we were family"
The staff was personable and really went out of their way to make us feel like we were the only ones staying there! One of the better hotel stay's i've ever had.
The staff was really friendly and ready to help with all my needs!

"Nu Hotel Brooklyn"
Just came back from a 5 night stay at the Nu Hotel. The room was very modern and clean, and the bed was very comfortable with beautiful down bedding. We had problems our first night with a heating system that didn't want to turn off. The engineer, Rene, worked on it the next day and thought the problem had been fixed as did we. The next night, however, […] brought the same problem. The manager immediately moved us to another room where we experienced no further problems and surprised us with cookies and sparkling cider on our dresser that night "for our trouble." All encounters with the staff were personal and friendly. Upon checking out my husband availed himself of the free wi-fi/printer in the lobby only to find he had trouble syncing his IPAD with their printer. He really needed the material for a meeting and the manager took over, printing IN COLOR over 100 pages of the material at no charge. There is an unremarkable but good continental breakfast daily, and warm chocolate chip cookies ("brookies") available throughout the day. We were at first startled to see the hotel was across the street from a city jail, but this caused no extra noise or inconvenience. In fact we were probably at the safest place in town with police cars there at all times. My only complaint, a small one, is that the lighting in the bathroom is not as good as it should be. A lighted makeup mirror would be a welcome addition. There is a subway station close by and the desk staff has a car service that arrives in minutes if you would prefer not to use the subway. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Brooklyn. Read more

"NU Hotel NYC-Brooklyn Heights"
Had a great stay at the hotel, it was modern and comfortable at the same time. Good location and easy to get to, cheap garage next door. The room was big by NY hotel standards, and had all the amenities I needed. My only gripe is that I was asked to give a card upon checking in. They held a $100 deposit on the card, fine no problem. A week later, that […] $100 is still on hold. If I had known they were going to keep it for that long, I would have given a credit card, not my debit card. I called the hotel and they told me that they released it, but the bank could keep it in pending for up to 3 weeks. Something I wish they mentioned to me upon check in, thats all. Read more
"awesomeness"
great local, nice staff, cool rooms.
"Excellent service and ideal location"
The NU Hotel is definitely a great place to book a room. The pictures of the rooms are a bit complimentary...your room will not have a hammock, unless you book the penthouse. That made me sad, but still the rooms are great. Very modern and clean, the rooms definitely have a great level of comfort. The hallways and lobby are very cool. The main highlights […] for this hotel are the staff and the location. We had an amazing level of service while here from some Brooklyn-stylish ladies. They were super helpful. The location is perfect since it is right on the A, C, F and G trains which can get you to Manhattan in 15 minutes or deeper into Brooklyn for the same amount of time. The one drawback is that the hotel is across the street from a Detention Center since the courthouse is right there so you may see a lot of police and wonder why the building next door looks like a jail. It's because it is! Super safe neighborhood though so I do not consider this a major drawback. Read more
"Amazing"
My friend and I had a big schedule planned for the day and needed to leave our bags with the hotel. Not only did they let us leave our bags but they gave us our room early to put them in. They were so generous and accommodating. The room was perfect also. There is a jail across the street but it was not ever scary. Great neighborhood and great serv […] ice!!!! Read more

"NU Hotel"
We stayed here for 2 nights. Perfect location for us, as we were visiting friends and family in the surrounding neighborhoods (Cobble Hill, Boerum Hill, and Park Slope), and my husband had business meetings in DUMBO area of Brooklyn. Within walking distance of some really delicious restaurants and bars on Smith st. and Court st. Room was clean, and […] staff was courteous. Complimentary use of bicycles was a fun way to get around, made us feel like we still lived there! A good fit for someone who wants to explore Brooklyn. Read more
"NU Hotel in Brooklyn - close to all sites"
Great location, plenty of restaurants and shopping in the area. The city is just a short subway ride away.
"Good experience"
Nice room and good bathroom w large shower (clean and modern) staff was friendly but room wasnt sound proof - hallway trafic and music/tv from other rooms. Overall it eas good!

"Some rooms better than others!"
Spent first 3 nights in an inner room. Queen bed...had requested a king...and the fire alarm went off every time we stepped out of a hot shower. Plus, a my wife's mirror went missing(if you broke it at least admit it, staff). The last night we were offered another room. Fantastic! Hammock in the room, comfortable king bed, leather sofa and roomy. The […] corner room was a little noisy, but hey, it's Brooklyn on a Monday morning! Had we gotten that room or one like it from the beginning it would have been one of the best accomodations I'd ever experienced. But, alas, we didn't...and it wasn't. I will stay there again, but only if I get the room I want! Ask for Read more

"Great experience!"
Stayed at the Nu Hotel over Thanksgiving Day weekend, and had a great time!! The location seemed a bit sketchy at first, but turned out to be great! Lots of cute shops and restaurants within walking distance. The free breakfast and wifi are a perk, but my favorite amenity is definitely the bikes!! Had a great time exploring Brooklyn by bike.
Excellent hotel, highly recommended.

"Really cute hotel in Brooklyn"
We stayed one night but overall the experience was good. Our hotel room was really comfortable, and had a nice decor. Overall it seemed like a really chill place for a NY hotel. Also it is close to tons of great restaurants and to the subway. I would recommend it to any of my friends coming to town.
"Neat Boutique Hotel"
I really enjoyed this hotel. The people who worked there were friendly without being in your face. The manager helped me out with extending my stay even though they were sold out.
"Great Value"
The Nu Hotel was a great value considering its proximity to Manhattan. The only trade-off is the lack of cabs available, although the front desk was more than happy to arrange for a car when we needed to get back to the airport by 5:30 a.m. The rooms are unique (no carpeting, modern decor) but I have to admit it was the most comfortable bed I've ever […] slept in at a hotel! The front desk staff was very gracious (and fun) and the breakfast was perfect for us. We will definetely stay again. Read more
"Great for everything but sleep"
At first blush, this place is great. Large rooms, comfortable beds, nice clean bathrooms with good toiletries, location near lots of food options, friendly staff. BUT ... the location actually kind of stinks. It sits on Atlantic Avenue (a busy corridor, especially at 4am for food deliveries) at the corner with Smith Street (where a police dispatch area) […] exists. I've stayed there a total of five nights and haven't gotten a single good night of sleep. It's really unfortunate, because everything that is within the hotel's control (outside of the fact that it's tough to get a reservation for some reason) is great ... but I wouldn't recommend staying here. "Solid choice, nothing fancy though"
Pretty decent location, while there is a "corrections facility" directly across the street. It doesn't really even look like a jail so it's not that big of a deal. Pretty decent free breakfast in the AM. While it looks very fancy in the photos, it's that kind of "cheap" contemporary. Like I felt as if I would break everything I touched. Also, don't […] fall into the mini bar/candy trap, it gets me every time. Read more
"NU Hotel - Easy access to Manhattan"
I was going to Manhattan each day. I didn't explore the area around the hotel much, except to go to Trader Joe's and the Museum of Transit. The hotel was clean, the free breakfast each morning was adequate, the bathroom was nice. The vinyl floor was a little different, but fine.
"The NU Hotel in Brooklyn - Character and comfort"
This was our first visit to the NU Hotel and it won't be our last. We picked it for the convenience of the location - close to our son and daughter-in-law's apartment - but it is the spacious, comfortable room, the helpful staff, the great Continental breakfast, and the unique decor that will insure our return. Don't book the NU Hotel if you want a […] hotel room that looks like every other hotel room you have ever seen! We were surprised by the stark white, modern design and tiled floor, but the bed was the most comfortable that we have found. A nice touch was the umbrella provided for use while staying at the hotel. (7" of rain in one day!) I also appreciated their generosity with the toiletries. I take the extras for my Brownie Troop to make packets for the homeless, and the soap and shampoo were refilled every day. thanks, NU HOtel, for a wonderful stay! Read more
"Awesome hotel, not great location"
This hotel is very modern, stylish, and clean. The concierge were very nice and friendly, although we had to wait 15 minutes while checking in because the type of room I had requested was not ready (even though I had emailed both the hotel and hotels.com website). The free coffee and delicious cookies were a nice touch. The room itself was spacious […] for NYC and the shower was very nice and modern. It seemed like it might be noisy at night but with earplugs it wasn't a problem. The breakfast was good but not outstanding. In the evenings they have music playing in the lounge by the reception and it seems like they have a very young, hip clientele. There were also a lot of couples with small kids. The location is not great being near downtown Brooklyn, which is only really problematic at night. There are not a lot of late-night eateries open except McDonalds. Overall this was a very nice hotel close to the subway, just beware of the location. Read more

"great hotel, great value"
I love this hotel, this was my 2nd stay and both visits were great. Rooms are clean and bright with great finishes. They could use a little more staff at front desk and bathrobes but otherwise great.
"Who Nu?"
Who Nu there was such a wonderful hotel in the heart of Brooklyn? Everything was great! Quick, easy & friendly check-in, FAST elevators, BIG, clean room w/ BIG window, FREE WIFI & desk, frig, BIG comfortable bed, clean bathroom (w/ nice soaps). Nice breakfast spread & GOOD coffee. Complimentary bicycle got me all around Brooklyn. Never took a cab once. […] Close to lots of good restaurants & bars. Close to subway. All staff extra friendly. Loved my stay! I'm a Nu Man. "Exactly what we were hoping for"
My husband and I stayed at the NU hotel for 5 nights and it was everything we hoped it would be. Friendly staff, clean and modern room, quiet, and a comfortable bed! There are so many nice touches at this hotel, from the Aveda products, to the mp3 speaker plug-in in the room, to the in-room Keurig coffee maker. We borrowed bikes one evening and rode […] to Williamsburg to explore and get dinner. It was a really fun way to see the city, and all of the bike lanes through Brooklyn made the ride feel safe and enjoyable! (Tip: Google maps will route you on known bike paths!) There are two subway stops less than 5 min. walk away, and easy to hail cabs on the corner. It took us 20-30 min. to take the train to lower Manhattan, and about 45 min. to go uptown. We would definitely stay here again, and definitely recommend to friends. The included breakfast is also great: cereal, fruit salad, bagels, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, etc. Read more

Hotel.com got me the room for fifty cheaper then what the hotel charged me, side not if you want to pay less for incidentals have them remove them from the room when you check in..
