Ettington Chase Hotel and Conference Centre - Warwickshire (county)

The hotel staff was most gracious, the beds were like jello and need upgrading as well as the soap, shampoo etc, smelled cheap. The bar and restaruant were very well staffed and professional. We will definitely be back when we visit the UK again on business and will take advantage of other services.

Quiet & comfortable and in lovely countryside surroundings. Convenient to main road between Banbury and Stratford-upon-Avon. The pool area is very nice. Bathrooms could use an update and a hairdryer would have been welcome.

Excellent for family stop over between visiting Warwick Castle on one day and Birmingham NEC the next day. We had a lovely relaxing night away. There was a little dirt in the bath and the room looked a little tired. The bed was very comfy. The leisure facilities were great and the restaurant was reasonably priced and very tasty food! Breakfast was superb! What the room might have lacked the food definitely made up for!

Visited this hotel as a birthday treat. Was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was buffet style and had a good selection. All staff pleasant and friendly. Spa and gym added benefit. This is a conference centre so lacks character in my opinion. Also the lifts are placed a long way from reception and the restaurant so it's a bit of a trek to go for breakfast! We had a lovely stay at the Ettington chase hotel, enjoyed the pool and the other facilities very much and the room was lovely and big and clean and the highlight for us was that it was less than a 10 minute drive into stratford and that was a lovely place to visit. PROS: Easy to reach, walking distance to the local pub and shops in Ettington, short drive into Stratford, Warwick castle and a few NT properties. Free Wifi, pool. CONS: Awful, awful pillows! No soundproofing in the room, generally a bit stingy on the extras e.g. only one bottle of shampoo/shower gel between two for two nights, poor tea/coffee selection […] (no biscuits etc). One other thing that annoyed was that instead of replacing used cups etc with clean ones, they just rinsed out what we had used and dumped it back on the side. Just seems a bit lazy. When we came in on Sunday night after dinner, there was a lady sat on reception messing around the internet - she didn't even acknowledge our presence by looking up, let alone saying 'good evening'! Reception staff extremely patronising on arrival and departure. Restaurant and bar staff complete opposite very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. Rooms clean, comfortable. First Hotel I have ever stayed in where you had to reserve a table for dinner even if you are a hotel guest. We found that dissapointing so went out and found somewhere else to eat locally. We booked for 2 adults & an 11 year old. Lovely approach & grouds, well kept. Very quiet location. Massive car park - didn't realise it was such a big hotel.Initially at reception they advised it was only a double. Fortunately had a print of the reservation to show the additional person. And then a supervisor was able to see it on the reservation. A […] delay of 10 minutes. Nicely clean & well kept. Decor good. Room OK but a bit stuffy. Only cups for 2 even though a camp bed had been installed. Duvets a bit strange - old blankets folded & shoved into a duvet cover, so not particualrly light. A bit noisy at night with a wedding or two going on - not the hotel's fault of course - please don't chat with your long lost relatives at 2 a.m. outside someone's door just before heading for bed. It's hell getting back to sleep especially in a stuffy room after half-hearing a story about someone else's tragic relative. 11 year old had a bit of a loose tooth bleed (sorry about that), but the pillow cover wasn't changed for the second night. Indoor pool really nice & clean. Not olympic size of course but a decent size for a swim and mess about. Nice jacuzzi too. But wear goggles in the pool - quite painful & foggy eyes for 5 hours after. Pool and Jacuzzi were lovely - would have benefitted from some loungers or chairs perhaps but not much spare room? Changing room a bit dated. Our bedroom was comfortable but unfortunately loads of spiders on the ceilings - we counted 8 which hadn't been removed. Staff were absolutely delightful - no trouble with requesting bigger pillow, ice and fresh […] milk rather than the UHT pots. Mealin the Restaurant was absolutely delicious and with my son being a chef, that is a real compliment. We booked the trip without reading any reviews so went with an open mind.As we pulled in to the car park first impressions were it was in a nice location but the building looked a little like a hospital. The reception lady was not very welcoming at all and we went to our room. Initial impressions were the interior looked nice but upon closer inspection […] it was not what you would expect from a 4 star hotel we took the stairs and the bannisters were cheap looking painted metal again giving it the feel of a hospital. The room was a good size but once again the finishing touches we're cheap the handle on the bathroom door looked like it should be in a factory or office. I stayed with my husband and my 11 year old daughter. We thoroughly appreciated the facilities and the helpful staff. However, the hotel was let down by the very uncomfortable beds and the poor breakfast (which cost £15 per person!). There was only white sliced bread and hardly any choice of fruit/cereal - and no yoghurt or similar for those of us who […] do not want a cooked breakfast (although the latter looked nice). The sauna smelled unpleasant and was also mixed - with no advance warning! We had a camp bed for our daughter which was incredibly uncomfortable and she ended sleeping on the floor. The double bed gave no support at all and was like sleeping in a hammock! It was very uncortable for a couple. It is really a conference hoteld not one for families. The guy manning the bar was really hospitable and pleasant and made our evening. The website pictures although strictly accurate are misleading. My wife and I stayed here recently for two nights. Very stylish, comfortable and functional rooms. Had the breakfast and evening meal option. Very good quality and reasonable prices if you choose to pay cash - £25 a head for 3 courses. All starters and desserts £5, all mains £15. Very enjoyable. One slight whinge, pint of lager and double vodka & Red […] Bull £14...I know I don't get out much nowadays but this seems a little excessive. The staff are extremely polite and accommodating, all work with a smile on their faces. Well done to all of them. The pool is nice and warm and the sauna is worth a go. The gym looked ok but I'm far too lazy to bother! This is a good hotel. Maybe on a weekday it has a corporate feel but on a weekend it feels perfect for a relaxing place to be. Give it a try!
