We had a suite that faced the river. While the hotel was fine, it was a bad idea to have the hotel face that direction. The noise from the street was loud. It stayed loud until very late and started again around 5 a.m. While it was nice to have a balcony from which we could watch the activtity on the street, the noise from really affected our stay. […] For this reason, I wouldn't stay there again. I'd pick a place off the main street by the river. The core area of Phnom Penh is small so there and many places within a view minuted to any site via tuk tuk. This place is a two star flophouse at best. (I believe that no hotel in the US would be allowed to rent rooms that have no windows.) We stayed at the hotel having booked standard rooms. There was nothing standard about them and my comments apply to all standard rooms. They have no windows at all. Its like checking into a dungeon with a floor level […] mattress and no other furniture. not even a chair. The room was minute but there was a banquette to lay a suitcase on. Good thing because the closet is too short to hang anything longer than a midriff t-shirt. Nor are there any drawers. There is no desk so there is nowhere to put a laptop except on the floor next to the mattress. The bathroom, actually the shower, looks cool but it has no counter space for toiletries really and the towels are hung next to the toilet in a separate stall. It was a nightmare because we are on a long trip and had more than an overnight bag. The redeeming features of the hotel are the location which is great, the staff who try hard, and a good breakfast. I recommend that anyone except those who want a suite ( and there are much better deals in town for the price of the suites) stay as far from the place as possible. It made for an awful start to our trip to Cambodia Read more

Did not like this hotel. The room set up felt claustrophobic (although the bathroom was nice). The carpets looked like they had not been washed in some time. My room was very loud, being underneath the rooftop bar. Depending on where I stood in the room, I could also hear the music from the downstairs bar too. This would go on until at least 11.30pm. […] Unfortunately, the hotel would not refund any of my days AT ALL so I ended up just eating the cost and switching on my own. Literally on the riverfront. I loved the location as it is a couple of blocks from the National Museum, Royal Palace, and a quick 10-15 min walk to the independence monument. Great location, step out the door and you are met with a million dining and drinking options in a very lively waterfront area. Cab ride from airport was no longer than 15 minutes and cost $10 US. This was our first trip to Cambodia, so the poverty was shocking at first. We found a TukTuk driver that we employed for the two weeks we were in Cambodia, this eliminated the need to find one each time you go out as you are bombarded with waiting drivers. While the area where the hotel IS the primary tourist area for Phnom Penh. 1st Room: "Number TWO"- Suite: patio sliding glass door wouldn't lock. 2nd Room: "Number FIFTEEN"- Suite. The new room was on the top floor just beneath the rooftop bar. I could hear everything going on up there in my room until midnight+ when the bar closed. That was every night […] of my 4 nights there. The lights in the room were inadequate to light the place beyond a mild dim. I was never provided soap for the shower. My bathtowel was as thin as a washcloth and certainly not suited for a caucasian male (I'm tall, but, not large). The equipment in the room & hotel was showing its age. Carpet in the elevators are frayed and missing in the corners. I could go on and on about this hotel, but, ladies & gents, there is nothing boutique or luxurious about this hotel. Simply put, its a post-modern designed hotel that's a 2.5 to 3/5 star in my book. All that negativity said, the hotel staff were certainly nice when they weren't lying to me (about no more rooms available). The bed was very firm and the sheets didn't go to the end of the bed; my feet were lying on the mattress itself most of the night. That said, I slept VERY well on that bed. The A/C blows directly down upon the workspace. In summary, this is just a post-modern designed hotel that's showing its age. Read more

Our room was very small. No table, no chairs. Nowhere to put cases. Very little daylight in room as vey little window, which was frosted and you couldn't see out of. Bathroom equipment very good. Breakfast food too rich in quality. Simple breakfast not possible. OK for 1 night stopover but not for longer stay as we had 4 nights there!

Hotel located at city center, facing the habor, location is good... but the service, cleanliness, maintenance is really bad... We arrived at 1930, the reception is equal to the Tuk Tuk Driver... when we asked for breakfast selection, postcard & stamp stuff... no one can answer us immediately... When we entered our room, we found its design is great […] (we booked standard room), but when we stayed longer (about 30 mins), my friend started to feel itchy and we found A LOT OF ants are walking on the back of our beds.. and also found some dead ants on the pillow... so we asked for changing room... the staff try to persuade us to stay at the same room and he will kill the ants by using SPEEDTOX (pls note there is NO WINDOW in the room)... we rejected and asked for upgrade if all standard room is full... after several rounds negotiation, they are very KIND to offer a very very special discount for us to upgrade to the suite with additional USD20.. be honest, if we have choice, we will rather like to cancel our booking and move to the hotels nearby... but they insist we cannot cancel our room... so we have no choice but only spent extra to upgrade... luckily we just need to stay one night and can leave very early at 9 in next morning... the suite is big.. also look good... but when u look in detail, we found that its maintenance is poor.. no toothpaste... everything looks very old and dirty (can find many hairs on our beds and pillow... really cant believe a so-called "4 star" hotel can dirty like this... i doubt if there is any house keeping to clean the room... the only good thing i can say is... their breakfast is good... thats all... Of coz I won't recommend my friends to stay in this hotels.. its the poorest 4-star hotels i have ever stayed..... service & cleanliness is the basic requirement for a hotel.. which i cant find any from Quay~ Read more

I'll keep it simple - do not book the smaller back rooms, they have no ventilation and thus end up becoming mouldy as there's no where for the steam from the shower to go. The carpets and "lounge" chair had stains on them, the rooms smell of mould (which is not good if you have allergies) and the whole place looks like it was cooked up by some 90s fashionista […] with crazy form as the decider over functionality. Also, customer service was severely lacking; breakfast was not served on a first-come first-served basis, and when you have your itinerary planned for a 7am start and arrive for breakfast at 6am only to be waiting 50+ minutes (and having someone else served before you), with no apology nor restitution offered (we were late for our activities which held up a group), you are left with a bitter taste. On a brighter note, the concierge did offer to organise transportation through their "cousin" or friend of some sort, with a good 25% markup... if you can't tell, I'm being cynical about the "brighter note" part. Summary: Would not recommend at all, there's so much more choice, try somewhere else. Have stayed in a 3-star hotels in Cambodia before and this hotel makes those ones look like a 5+ star palace. We'll start with the breakfast as it was the outstanding feature of the hotel. A great choice of hot and continental options, great coffee and the best croissants we've had in Cambodia. They will even serve breakfast in your room for no extra charge! The style is modern and the room was clean and comfortable. Although there were some minor niggles […] like one of the wardrobe door hinges was lose and the wardrobe light didn't switch off so there was light coming in to the room during the night. Staff were helpful and polite. They organised our boat tickets to Siem Reap and would call tuktuks etc. Did we mention the breakfast was excellent? We booked this hotel for our last night in Phnom Penh after spending 3 weeks in Cambodia. It is a great location, right by Tonle Sap river and with lots of eating places nearby. It is walking distance to the Royal Palace, National Museum, Central Market and Wat Phnom. Our inclusive breakfast was beautiful, you choose from a menu and the presentation and taste was excellent. There was tea and coffee making facilities in the room and the bathroom was lovely and clean with a good pressure shower. There was also an in room safe. The only down side was that our room had no windows and the lighting was a little dim. The design was very modern but it did mean that there wasnt really any surfaces to put things on eg your cup of tea ! We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends. Read more

Wij hebben The Quay geboekt omdat de ligging aan de rivier, de afbeelding van het dakterras op de website, de kleinschaligheid en de moderne inrichting een goed gevoel gaven.
