"Amazing Location for Great Price"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 16, 2012
Kastel 1700 was a pleasant surprise. Tucked in a quaint medieval side street off one of the main squares and part of Diocletian's original summer palace, my wife and I were sceptical of the modern amenities the hotel would offer. Fortunately, the rooms were modern with free wireless internet, the rooms were not big but plenty of space for multiple suitcases and comfortably walk around the room, and a modern bathroom with a shower with good water pressure. One of the walls in the room featured the original medieval stone wall and we had a beautiful view of the ocean and the ocean boulevard. The hotel was centrally located, a few minutes walk from all the main attractions. The only complaint is that the hotel does not have an elevator. We had to climb 4 flight of stairs with our luggage so you need to be in good shape or bring light suitcases. The other negative is that the hotel does not have parking. If you are driving to Split, you have to park in one of the public garages on the outskirts of the city walls. The closest public parking lots fortunately are only a short walk to the hotel.
"Great Hotel - Beach needs work!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 8, 2012
Friendly and helpful staff with great service. Located 10 meters from the ocean with great views - sleep to the sound of the waves. Only downside, surrounding neighborhood run down with alot of trash stored on the beach.
"Hotel luxe is best location for split."Reviewed by Dipti of "Houston, TX" on Dec 9, 2011
Hotel Luxe is one of the best hotel that we have stayed in Croatia. With outstanding location, staff whom are always willing to help their customer with a smile. The best customer service ever, thanks to Ivana. The hotel's decor is hip and trendy. Great breakfast and very clean rooms.
"Convenient Location and Friendly Staff"Reviewed by Martha N of "California" on Oct 30, 2011
We were treated very well at Villa Diana. While it lacks some luxuries found at larger hotels, the easy access to sightseeing and shopping makes up for it. The manager, Gorana, is a gem.

This 68-kilometre long island lies a two-hour ferry ride from the mainland port of Split. Very popular with the yachting crowd, it’s known for its lavender fields, vineyards and old Venetian-style stone buildings. Hvar Town is home to a 16th-century cathedral, a hilltop castle, and a marble paved piazza ringed with trendy cocktail bars and seafood eateries. Several of the nearby Pakleni Islets (accessible by taxi-boat) are devoted to nudism.

I am sure It was a great place to stay back in the 70's. But nothing has been done to the Hotel since then.
"The worst hotel in the world!"
The hotel was extremely basic and not worth the money we paid to stay there. The room was never cleaned during our stay and there was no air con which meant you had to keep the window open all night to try and make it better which it didn't as it was too hot and there was constant noise added to fact that guests would rise at 6am to loudly move sround […] and reserve their sunbed meaning that we never had one and never got one decent nights sleep. The beds in the room were small, so small that a fully grown msn couldn't lie straight. The food in the hotel was sub- standard and barely edible. The eating area resembled a school hall and the staff were unapproachable, unhelpful and unfriendly. The whole experience made us extremely angry about the money we paid to stay there. I strongly urge people NOT to say here! Along with the fact that the beds Read more

"From another time"
Spending a few days in Hvar we wanted also to try one or more locations outside the city of Hvar. Stari Grad is a nice small town - and with several other nice and beautiful towns not far away. Hotel Arkada is from another time - a big beach resort from 60ies/70ties with huge concrete blocks. Room was in its original setting and decoration with definite […] need for upgrade. No aircondition and no minibar is really not conveient during the hot season. Food was generally disappointing. Outside had been nice when the istallations were new, but was also suffering for lack of maintenance and upgrade. So - a nice area - but find another hotel or apartment. Read more
