Hotel THB El Cid - Playa de Palma

This was the second time when we went to this hotel. This time we had "full board"-good choice-the food was excellent. The the guest rooms need to be refurbished to maintain the "4 star" level. The charge of $2.00/day for the in-room safe noted on Expedia website, was actually of $2.50/day+$6.00 deposit.

This is the second time I stayed at this hotel, and the reason I come back is location. It is right on the boardwalk/beach, which is perfect for beach lounging. The deck/pool patio is also nice, and a great place to sit and watch the sun set. My one and only complaint is how terrible the beds and pillows feel. The location and service were great. The breakfast buffet and the dinner buffets were good with a great deal of variety. The only drawback of this hotel is that the bedding is really hard. If you love a hard mattress, I'd say go for it....if it bothers your back, it would be best to avoid staying here.

The hotel was conveniently located, 5 minute from the airport by car, and right at the beach front. Although the room I got was facing the side street, there were rooms with balconies facing the sea, and the view from those rooms looked fabulous. The hotel room I got was simple, small, with a small bed, but it had everything you would normally find […] in an american 3-star hotel, including the TV, hair dryer, and fridge. You had to pay extra for the use of the safe, maybe 3 euros per day. Towel service (for the pool or beach) was free, but required a 12 euro deposit per towel, totally worthwhile. Also, even after checkout, I was able to enjoy the swimming pool and the lounge chair, and because they had in the basement an indoor pool and sauna, I was also able to take a shower in the basement bathroom (before my flight). Breakfast is excellent as this place, with lots of choices of cold cuts, fruits, juices, and eggs in various styles, certainly one of the best breakfast buffets I have enjoyed in the world. The El Cid is in a good location, specifically if you're a German tourist. It is in the part of town where the majority of Germans holiday. There is a very convenient bus stop across the street that will take you into Palma in about 15 minutes. It will also get you to the airport in just a few minutes. There is also a trolley that will take you down […] the beach to S'Arenal. The area around the hotel has plenty of restaurants but it's a slightly older crowd (like 50s - 60s) so if you're looking for clubs, you might want to head over to Magaluf or down further to S'Arenal. The hotel itself was clean but very outdated. It was well maintained but again, in need of a remodel. The pool areas were very nice and it's right next to the beach, which is convenient. The beds are quite hard and a king bed is two twins pushed together. The rooms are large but slightly outdated but the balconies are very nice, especially since we had one overlooking the beach. The acoustics in the hotel are terrible. It's very loud as it's tile floored and the cleaning ladies in the morning moving furniture around in the rooms above us was very loud. Also, we could hear the man in the next room snoring all night. There's a bit of noise from the street but the noise in the hotel itself is worse. We got half board and the breakfast was very good. It's a huge buffet and there's something for everyone. Overall, the hotel was very convenient as a base from which to explore the island and to the beach but I wasn't a huge fan otherwise. Had it been more quiet, I could have looked past the outdated decor and bathroom. The staff however was very friendly and fluent in English. location is beachfront and several good restaurants are closeby. Walk along the beach is good, but watch out for bikes and joggers. Glad to have a GPS because it was hard to find the first time. Bus transportation is very readily accessible and easy to use. The hotel is close to the airport and other major roadways.

A well situated hotel in Playa de Palma. There is a bus stop just behind the hotel if you would like to go to Palma. My advise is to take bus 25 as it takes you straight to Placa de Reina, just in the best place to start your walk in the city centre. Number 15 follows a different route and it takes a lot more time. Couldn't really have asked for more from this hotel. The location was perfect, right by the beach. Room was a bit dated but that didn't matter as it was spotlessly clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. No shortage of sunbeds, tables & chairs etc. outside and by the pool. Had a great 5 night stay. Hotel has 2 pools, plenty of sun loungers, chairs and tables round pool and the lovely beach is right in front of hotel. Don't worry about noise from aircraft even though you can see the airport from side facing balconies....you can hear them but not obtrusive. Good and plentiful buffet meals. Hotel spotlessly clean. Perfect location, right across from the beach, amazing views of the bay. Excellent balconies, plenty of places to eat nearby. 10 mins from the airport. We have stayed at the El Cid once before and loved it then too More expensive than other hotels in Can Pastilla but worth it if you can afford it. Myself and my husband stayed in Majorca for 4 days at Hotel Helios then did a cruise round the Med leaving from Palma. On our return we booked the Hotel El Cid for our las night. If money were no object we […] would book the El Cid everytime, though the Helios is also fab! The location can't be beaten-right on the beautiful beach. When we booked in we were given room 403 which turned out to be a suite although we had only booked a standard room. It was lovely, bedroom, lounge, bathroom and three balconies!!! Det gis i beskrivelsen av hotellet (norsk oversettelse) inntrykk av at det skal være vaskemaskin og tørketrommel på rommet, men det stemmer jo ikke... Hotellet ligger perfekt i området. Ren och fin public strand tvärs över vägen med solstolar. Frukostbuffén var suverän, saknades inget. Det enda är att matsalen var upptänd med lysrör så det var ingen mysig miljö och man fick inte sitta ute och äta.

Séjour du 29/09 au 6/10/2012 : L'hôtel est particulièrement bien situé juste en face des plages de Palma. Toutes les commodités sont sur place : desserte de bus dont celle amenant à l'aéroport, magasins, pharmacie, etc . La plage se trouve au pied de l'hôtel et seul un paséo bien agencé et fort sympa la sépare de l'établissement. Le personnel de l'hôtel […] est très aimable et attentionné, notamment celui affecté à la salle du restaurant. La chambre est spacieuse et meublée de façon classique (avec TV). Un balcon offre une vue sur la piscine et sur la plage, bref une situation idéale. Le ménage est fait tous les jours, les serviettes dans la salle de bain sont remplacées, rien à dire sur le plan de la propreté. Nous avons loué un véhicule en passant par la réception de l'hôtel. Là aussi simplicité, facilité et prix attractif étaient au rendez-vous : ex. pour une FIAT Panda , assurance tous risques sans franchise, km illimité, sans caution , et pour une durée =ou+ à 4 jours = 24€/jour. Le service au restaurant est super, le buffet est copieux et bon, et différent chaque jour. Notre commentaire et notre regard sur l'hôtel fait suite à un séjour qui s'est déroulé en dehors de la période estivale, et nous n'avons pas eu à connaitre une forte affluence touristique. Ceci dit, l'établissement quant à lui était très fréquenté surtout par des vacanciers allemands. En résumé, nous conservons une excellente impression de l'hôtel Cid que nous recommanderons autour de nous. Read more

Hotelzimmer war so weit in Ordnung. Das Badezimmer war veraltet aber sauber! Was mich gestört hat, das trotz Angabe kein Internet Emfang im Zimmer war. Frühstück war in Ordnung. Mein Zimmer auf der ersten Etage waren sehr laut ,da direkt darunter die Bar ist.

Das Hotel macht einen guten Gesamteindruck. Bei genauerem hinsehen offenbaren sich jedoch einige kleine Mängel. Vi hadde et flott opphold i august 2012, oppholdet var på en uke..For voksne som vil ha basseng og bassengområde i nærhet til flott strand. Godt utgangspunkt for turer til Palma, 3 min gange til buss. Strandpromenaden rett utenfor hotellet, mange km lang, med mange spisesteder og butikker.Personale i resepsjonen var veldig behjelpelig med informasjon […] og bestilling av ulike billetter osv, veldig hyggelige. Vi forventet ikke så mye av maten, men frokosten var helt fantastisk, har ikke fått så bra frokost på 5* hotell! Det er ikke riktig at alle rom har utsikt mot havet eller bassengområder. Det er ikke vaskemaskin/tørketrommel på rommene. Det er ikke overmadrasser på sengene. Madrassene er enten stein harde eller alt for myke. Det er ikke noe spesielt med sengetøyet. Hotellet ligger fint til nær det meste.

Hotellet var bra. Nära tillstranden, nära till restauranger, nära till Palma och flygplatsen etc. Lugnt område. Det var säkerligen 90% tyskar på hotellet och alla i personalen pratade ok tyska. Hela området är som ett paradis för tyskar. Inredningen i hotellrummet som vi bodde i var gammalt. Sängen var stenhård. Frukostbuffén var superbra enligt oss […] dock! Överlag rekommenderar jag detta hotell. Personligen är jag livrädd för alla kryp som finns men vi såg inte ett enda kryp! Det är ett stort plus för hotellet! Poolområdet på baksidan av hotellet var superbra! Där finns även ett litet krypin där man kan köpa lätt mat och dricka! Smidigt att ta sig från flygplatsen till hotellet. Tar ca 5min med taxi och kostar 13euro. Med kollektivtrafik (buss) ca 10-15min och kostar 5euro/2 personer. In till Palma tar det ca 20min med kollektivtrafik (buss) och kostar 3euro/2 personer.
