We only planned on staying here for one night, then moving on to Santa Fe. We loved our room & experience so much we stayed another night. So happy we did! The room was absolutely perfect! Great wood burning fireplace, Spanish tiled bathroom & High Desert decor. The breakfast was sensational! Best granola ever. We even bought a pound to go. Would highly recommend this B&B for anyone looking to really relax. We had dessert & wine in front of our fireplace. Didn't want to leave.

One of our principles of travel is that we prefer a location that offers us the ability to walk to/from in the evenings after we have had an "adult beverage' or two. Getting behind the wheel of a vehicle is not only irresponsible but unnecessary during the evening hours! Casa Benavides is located a long block from the main plaza and a bit further from a choice of centrally located restaurants. We truly enjoy a nice casual walk back to our lodging after dinner and this establishment fits the bill. The staff (front desk & kitchen) is exceptional and you can see the pride they take in making Casa Benavides an enjoyable place to stay. For future trips, we will never look at a different establishment for a place to stay as it fits our needs perfectly!
"Character, charm and cordial service"

We enjoyed everything about Casa Benevides. Our large, clean and comfortable room had high beamed ceilings creating a lovely ambiance. There’s no internet service in the guest rooms, but the becoming lobby with local artwork and resources is an enjoyable spot to hang out. Our room had a nice patio with comfortable seating to enjoy the sunny weather in Taos. Located only 2 blocks from the Plaza it’s in a prime location. Breakfast (especially the granola) and service were wonderful. We’ll stay here the next time we’re in Taos.

We arrived late Sunday evening and although we had no reservations they went out of their way to come in and not only give us keys to out room but information on where to have dinner as well as hot tea to take back to our room. Great location just downtown yet quit an tranquil. Breakfast was great. Would defiantly come back.
"Nice Inn with Phenomenal Breakfast"

Great location right in downtown Taos. Really nice place, old adobe charm but on a big scale. Tall ceilings, large rooms, so comfortable but not cozy. Our favorite part was the breakfast. Stunning room, staff bustling about bringing you anything you could imagine: homemade muffins and cakes, Mexican baked eggs, fresh peaches, and the best homemade granola we'd ever had. We would come back for the granola alone!
"Taos Gem with Superb Service"

I'm sitting in the lobby of this wonderful B&B and I am overwhelmed by the charm, character and superb service of this unassuming place. Keeping up perfectly with this town's style, this B&B makes you feel you are staying in a wonderful grand house, with a beautiful enviable charming kitchen, perfectly appointed dining room, warm living room and cozy bedroom. Our room was probably the smallest one in this house, yet has all we needed, including a cute patio. Yes, it's true that the amenities are not new, but you wouldn't come here to find a brand new jetted bath tub anyways. You come here for the charm and authenticity. You come here to enjoy the silence, the quiet understated elegance of the main rooms and to unwind. And while you are at it you are sorounded by authentic architectural details, personal attention, amazing home cooked food and a general feeling that you are home. I understand the comments about the wifi, yes it would be nice to have it in the room. But as I walk to the lobby/living room to get connectivity I find myself liking better being here anyways. The room is beautiful and you are mostly alone. Even though I am an Internet dependent being, I found it not a big deal. I've survived. The location is excellent, just a few blocks from the plaza, there is free parking in the property. Check in was a breeze, 3' tops. There is not enough words to describe how good the staff is here. Personal, caring, making sure you have all you need and just plain sweet. The breakfast is included and they have freshly made muffins to die for. They offer waffles, all sorts of eggs, home made granola, peaches, tea, coffee... You won't leave hungry. And there is an afternoon complimentary tea from 3 to 5 with all sorts of goodies as well. My only regret is not staying longer to enjoy this wonderful Taos Gem.
"Great Breakfast and Friendly Staff"

We just spent one night at Benavides in Taos. The two of us found the cookies and sweets irresistible at the afternoon tea, again proving New Mexico a bane for eating light, let alone dieting. Then, the breakfast with the New Mexican fritatta and homestyle chili, plus homemade granola with yogurt and local peaches put the emphasis on the Breakfast part of the B&B name. The bed was most comfortable, the room was airy and clean. The reason for the 3 rating is that the details of the rooms need some attention. The heater woke us up when it came on in the night, and the little refrigerator was noisier than it should have been. Also, there were just some missing light bulbs here and there inside and out, and the hot tub was out of commission. Then, the internet worked perfectly but was only available in the lobby area, which is closed after about 7:00 pm. I can recommend staying at Benavides, but keep the above in mind when setting your expectations.
"Charming, convenient & personalized"

If you are tired of impersonal hotels, this charming and historic spot is for you. Price is slightly higher than banal local hotels but worth it. Barbara and Tom, the owners are part of Taos history and full of stories and hints about the area. Rooms are all different and appointed with attention to New Mexico's colours and architecture. The Terracotta Room has two Queen beds, a huge bathroom and is part of Barbara's ancestral home. The full breakfasts are served and plentiful; there is also tea and great baking in the late afternoon. Both Barbara and Tom tirelessly attend to any request. Regarding negative comments on this page, it should be noted that this inn is almost always full and the owners employ locals, many of whom don't have English. Repeat clients of whom we met many, speak to the success of this Inn.

The Inn is absolutely lovely, and just a block off the main part of town. Our side street was quiet and a convenient one block walk to the restaurants. Our room was impeccably decorated, bright and lively. The room was small and cozy but we didn't go for one of the higher priced rooms. The food is amazing with a generous breakfast and bountiful afternoon tea. There are a number of comfortable sitting areas around the inn including a large and sunny sitting room off the lobby and a beautiful courtyard. The main Inn has two floors. We stayed on the first level and I'm not sure I would want to haul my suitcase to an upstairs room although I'm told the rooms upstairs have a view of the mountains. The staff is friendly and helpful and we loved our stay.
"Great place in Taos!"

Our group of 21 stayed for two nights at this great B&B. The rooms were great, (all different configurations), the art work and decor was outstanding, and the food (breakfast) was to die for!! The location of the inn was convenient to the Plaza, and art galleries. I would highly recommend this B&B.
