Great staff - very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed our stay. Great location downtown.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice with hot spot lounge"
Very clean, comfortable. Rooms along interior that overlook the restaurant and lounge are perfectly quiet from 2 am to 7 am, but the music and talking filter in during the other hours.Genuine Expedia guest review
This is a nice, hip hotel with quick access to the MAX and lots of restaurants and shopping nearby, but our room was an interior room with an "atrium view" (view of the lobby restaurant and lounge); I became claustrophobic because I couldn't see the outdoors or open my window for fresh air. Also, pack earplugs to drown out the woohoo party girls and […] guys staggering down the halls coming back from the bars in the middle of the night. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good Location But......"
5 Star-I don't think so. Staff are not very experienced. Not attentive.Genuine Expedia guest review
This is a wonderful hotel with exceptional staff. The guest experience from that perspective was wonderful. The room however, for the price was not as exceptional. It was very small, you could barely open the closet doors or walk around without tripping over a chair. The bed had a huge divot on one side, you practically slide off and the room was on […] the interior of the hotel, of which you can hear the restaurant below in the evening. If you are easily awaken, don't stay in one of those rooms. I know every hotel has a bad room, and I would think with a 5 star that wouldn't be the case. I was pleased with all the staff and their service it was completely 5 start. The room was not a 5 start experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Overrated, Overpriced downtown hotel"
My daughter and I spent three nights at the Nines recently. It was pretty expensive, but was recommended by a friend who lives in Portland. The first night we had dinner with friends at Departures, their top-floor restaurant/bar which is pretentious and pricey, but we enjoyed ourselves because of the company. The second evening we arranged to meet other […] friends in the lounge area of Departures. We all ordered cocktails, and I picked up the tab again. We had brought four donuts (a private joke) in a box to one of the women in the party, and after we received our cocktails we were told by the waitperson (who was very nice, incidentally) that we could not usually bring food from outside the restaurant. I explained that we understood, and we set the box aside (again, we weren't interested in actually eating them anyway). Within a couple of minutes the manager, Kyle, approached the table and said that he heard we were having a problem with their policy. I responded that WE didn't have a problem with it, and I was hoping that he didn't either. He then told me that he was going to have to charge us $3 as a plate fee! What??? Guess Kyle is not a big picture guy. Anyhow, he took the donuts, I ended up with a $1500 hotel bill, and despite the fact that I'm a frequent visitor to Portland (from San Francisco), I will never be a patron of either the Nines or Departures again. Great location, great restaurant, very friendly and helpful staff. Downside is the elevator access (hotel is the top 9 floors of the building). ALWAYS a wait! Only 4 elevators to serve all guests, restaurant, rooftop lounge AND special events. Rediculously bad access. Love the hotel but hard to get in there!Genuine Expedia guest review
Amazing mid-century modern decor in the rooms, modern art throughout. Service was wonderful, restaurants and bars were great, and you're right in the heart of downtown. Highly recommend!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"average not great"
14th floor is not really a view room as the columns on the exterior are right in front of the windows block the view. The windows do not open even a crack for outside air; the room was stuffy like being in an airplane. Bring your own soap and hair products because if you take a bath you cannot reach or access the locked dispensers...no cu-tips, cotton […] balls etc. no morning paper, no in room coffee,"free" drinking water not left in room. This is not a five star hotel but the valet staff are 5 star. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel with great downtown Portland location"
We had a very small room but the bed was comfortable. All the staff we encounterd were very nice and accommodating. The only annoying thing was the random clicking sound from the air conditioning fan, which we told the front desk about but they never fixed it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location but not 5 star"
Awesome location, but there was still hair in our shower from the last guest which makes you wonder how well they cleaned everything else. The vents in the bathroom were covered in dust and the bellhops didn't offer to carry my wifes huge suitcase. Great location, but overall not impressed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Grand finish to a wine country visit."
Hotel staff was excellent in every way. Location to dinning, entertainment and shopping is excellent. Enjoyed utilizing the TriMet rail line that provided inexpensive, convenient transport to so many locations. One issue with room, unchanged bed linens, was immediately addressed by manager on duty and generous compensatoin was offered. "Excellent hotel, excellent location"
Loved the hotel... great staff, the beds provide an amazing sleep, location is fantastic. Would definitely stay there again. Make sure to get upstairs to the lounge for a drink and view of the city.Genuine Expedia guest review
The Nines is: super friendly (from the doorman to wait staff at Urban Farmer), stylish (in a good way), respectful (no maids banging on the door until 10), and great location (can walk to everything). Only complaint was temperature of room where I couldn't get it cold enough (in April when it was cold outside) to sleep comfortably, but I would totally […] stay here again. "Great weekend getaway"
A wonderfully comfortable and quiet room. A perfect location in downtown Portland.Genuine Expedia guest review
I had higher expectations of a five star hotel that was this spendy. It looked very attractive online but it was like that hot new club that all the cool kids go to. Had I known that, I would have stayed away. They have the most ridiculous elevator system that is ineffective and keeps you waiting. Rooms were nicely furnished and beds were comfortable […] but rooms were also very small. Our toilet got backed up and the water pressure in the sink was practically non existent and temperature was difficult to maintain. Back to the elevator again, needing to have your room key to get to your floor - having to slide it into a slot in the elevator - was a huge pain. It didn't always work...I watched other guests struggle with it. Again, I get it...you are exclusive, but can't you find another way to keep things secure that doesn't inconvenience your guests? Will stay at the Governor next time...they have it down to a science. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not deserving to be on the luxurious list"
Sonor isolation was very poor, heard neighbors making all kinds of noise starting around 4:00AM, cleaning lacking supervision, nothing like a four season or even a Sofitel. Quality of in rooms breakfast was very poor. No bathrooms robes nor slippers. Basic channels on TV, Motel 6 has better offers Rooms are too bright at night due to lights in the Lobby, […] even with curtains pulled. took 1/2 hr to retrieve car at Vallet....Definitly not your typical Luxury Hotel Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Will stay at The Nines any chance I get!"
Loved this hotel will stay again next time we're in Portland. Spent $20 extra dollars for a room with a city view and technically you could see city from in between the faux balcony thing. Not that big of deal just a little irritating! Departure was fabulous! Really Great food, drinks, decor try the signature martin Indochine. Urban Farmer was not that […] impressive for the price. Random side note....Henry's (on 12th) for brunch blew our minds haha! Bottom line stay at The Nines it's wonderful! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A very nice hotel in Portland"
stylish rooms and Lobby. Also on property, a good restaurant, The Urban Farmer.Genuine Expedia guest review
Your web site was misleading. You advertised two bed room and two bed room on atrium. I paid for the two bed room thinking it was a city view. Turns out both rooms were on atrium. Hotel insisted it was on atrium side. Felt misled.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great decor', but lacks cleanliness in the room"
My wife and I stayed at The Nines because of its beautiful interior design (from their website). We had a discounted rate so we did not pay as much for the room(although it was still well over $200). It was the first for both of us staying in a "luxury" hotel so we had high hopes. The hotel itself (lobby, service, valet, ect) were excellent. The room […] however, was a HUGE disappointment. The décor/design and color scheme was beautiful, but there were way too many "suspicious" stains on the their furnitures (specifically the sofa). We could not believe that a hotel like this would allow such a filthy furniture to exist in their rooms. The comforter/duvet also had stains on it. Their bed only had a fitted sheet and a comforter (no flat sheet and only 2 pillows). So, for what we came to expect, this was a definite disappointment. Luckily we didn't pay the full price for the room, but even with the discounted rate, this hotel was still subpar. We stayed at the Westin Hotel just around the corner from here a few months ago with much cleaner rooms for half the price. As far as the location, parking is pretty much $40/day or plan on parking 3 blocks away from the hotel for something a little less expensive. You are however pretty much located in the heart of downtown so if that's your plan, then this location is great. Overall, I would not recommend staying in this hotel unless you need to use it for a specific reason and hopefully for a substantially discounted rate. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A wonderful time"
loved the fact that the way the hotel and room were decorated was not like every other hotel you stay in. Everything was exceptional. Not a single complaint. Be sure to go to the deck on the 15th floor for an amazing view.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a great hotel choice in Portland. The place is clean, perfectly located, and nice size rooms. The workout room is one of the best I have seen at a "city" hotel. And we had a great weekend rate from hotels.com!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Worst luxury hotel of my 30 year travel experience"
The rooms at this hotel are about as big as a most closets! The staff was not willing or able to create the environment of a luxury hotel. I would not recommend this hotel as a luxury option for travelers of any kind.Genuine Expedia guest review
Expensive valet, almot 40 a night and no coffee in the room, but great hotel and nice people.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our stay at the Nines was sheer perfection and quite enjoyable! The only negative was the girl at the reception desk for the restaurant/bar at the top of the hotel. She was very rude and told us that there would be at least an hour wait, while the gentleman standing next to her said he could take up right away! She did this to all patrons! She has dark […] chin length hair and black rim glasses! She should not be working with people!!!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Location and Comfort"
A really stylish hotel with a cool contemporary decor and great service. From check in to check out everything worked flawlessly here. Staff is really friendly and helpful. Rooms are elegant and cozy. The bed is super comfortable and the bathroom is also great, roomy and with great water pressure. The lobby is on the 8th floor and it has some nice […] artworks and an atrium with chairs and sofas for you to relax and enjoy the nice environment. The location of the hotel is also great. Walk two blocks up to Alder Street between 9th and 11th and you will find a really big food truck pod, which is the best way to explore Portland's famous street food scene. "Very modern hotel. Awesome service!"

"Perfect weekend getaway"
This hotel had helpful and friendly staff. The atmosphere was delightful and whimsical at times. Food was interesting and delicious. I would definitely recommend itGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is in an old building so the rooms were small but done up very nice. I had a king deluxe. Service was good. Breakfast in bed didn't happen because nobody picked up our door hanger. Ordered fruit in the a.m. which was mediocre. For $20 they should serve something nicer than a handful of cantoloupe and strawberries. The upstairs restaurant is […] nice, really popular. Don't go there hungry. It's tapas, so most everything is sold singularly. $4 for a single skewers?! Why would you do that? Seriously, who is seriously satisfied with ONE skewers? Overall, nice location, nice room. Will return but with a hefty picnic basket! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not worth the money"
This is an expensive hotel and when you pay a certain amount of money you expect to see a matching level of cleanliness. The couch in the room was awful with visible spots of human secretions (yes!!). We asked to have the couch or cushions changed but the lady only brushed the couch and placed a sheet on it. We were offered to go to a different room, […] but the state of the couch was the same with spots everywhere. Also, the sink was clogging every time we use it and it did not have a desired pressure. The shower curtain looked yellow on the bottom and needed a change. I do not know why this is rated five stars. I would rate it between three and four and it is definitely not worth the money you pay for it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
