Very clean, comfortable room. Staff friendly and eager to please. Food was great, music/intertainment fun and relaxing. Truely a tropical paradise. We would definitely recommend the Anchorage Beach Resort to our friends and family, and we would love to come back again!

Reception staff not very helpful. Restaurant and bar staff were great. Food was very well done. Room was nice, good views. Awesome pool. Difficult to get to, hire a car or you will be paying for taxis if you want to go anywhere as the resort is not near much.

No window glass in the room meant the shutters all had to be kept closed so air conditioning would work. Consequently the room was always very dark especially with the few low energy bulbs fitted. Chair at the desk had a hard bare wooden seat that made for very uncomfortable working at the desk. Shower head was useless - it could not be set to point […] downwards and fired water horizontally at the wall at the opposite end of the bath from where it dribbled onto the floor. Reception staff were not very helpful or friendly however the barstaff and wait staff were exceptional which made up for it. My bathroom wasn't cleaned daily as could see dirt and grime on the floors. Something had been smeared on the wall which hadn't been cleaned off. I often had to ask for towels as the cleaners didn't leave any after making the […] room up. The safe and tv did not work in my room which I was only told about when I enquired. Overall I did get a very good deal to stay here for 5 nights however I probably wouldn't stay here again. Was disappointed in the cleanliness of my room with some type of droppings on the wooden louvers. The bed was very uncomfortable, very hard. Air con and 2 fans helped keep the room cool. Although the hotel had just gone through a hurricane a couple weeks before, it wasn't in bad shape. The rooms are basic but comfortable, with minor damage such as holes in the window screens and shutters that don't function properly. The meals and the alcohol are overpriced (and there aren't many other options available), but the pool is lovely and soothing and you can't help but settle into island time where these things become so much less important. We loved meeting people from other parts of the world and a we had a splendid time with our co-guests. Our biggest disappointment was that there was no swimming beach. My husband and I and our two teenage children had a great time at the Anchorage. The staff were awesome especially those working at the restaurant and the security who always were accommodating. We were there durring Cyclone Even and I'm very pleased to say the staff did all they could to make us all as safe and comfortable as possible. Great affordable food, always really nice fish super fresh and there pizzas are yumo. Catered for a couple of our familys various special diets needs (vegetarian and a glutton intollarent). An excellent view of the sun set which varies day after day. A broken net which enables insects to get into the room and an uneven floor with water remained are only trifle things to complain. For the continental breakfast meat or egg should added to the menue.

Its all in all a very good resort although the prices at the restaurant is way to high compared to the quality of the food. But I have to say that all the staff was amazing. Helpful, caring and professional. They had a part in making my holiday a good one. And I miss Fiji already!

Dirty bathroom. Spa bath in bathroom advertised as overlooking bay. This is done by sliding back a partition separating it from the main room and then looking through that room and out of its window at the bay. No privacy in doing this. No mention in any documentation of the sugar-cane train that regularly runs through the resort along the bottom access […] road which separates the rooms from the pool/bar/dining room. We stayed at the Anchorage over the Oct 2012 School Holidays. Our first room at the top of the hill was quite dissapointing but we were offered an upgrade for no extra charge after two nights to the bottom (near the restaurant and pool) so that was excellent. Staff were all lovely and very accommodating but more mone/timey could be spent on the facilities […] as the pool is needing new grouting/tiles (but is still wet when you get in so only a limited complaint there!) and the decking could do with someone going around with a hammer but over all it is ok as a low priced holiday resort. Also, TV was not great if you have young children (or older ones) as few channels and bad reception seems to be the standard (I know you don't go to a tropical island to watch tv but early in the morning or later in the evening it is a pretty much given for a family...). My biggest concern would be location as quite a distance from Nadi ($40-50 dollars taxi fare each way). The resort does have a free shuttle into Nadi but as that is around 12pm is not always an option - would suggest that this resort would be an excellent low priced option if you intended to hire a car for your stay. We had booked a king bed room and ended with a room with 2 queen beds. the room itself was quite large but it was not what we booked. the beds were hard as rocks and my wife woke every morning with a bad back ache, the radio clock did not work properly, the shower was not completely attached to the wall. The linen was quite old and some of it was quite […] yellow and did not match.the tv remote did not work and the tv was very old and we got three channels and the only english channel was bbc news. the fridge did not work properly and froze eveything that we put in to it.The resort took you into the towns and you had to find your own way back. They advertised an activity each day at the resort but it never eventuated. The staff at the restaurant were marvelous and really have to be congratulated they really looked after us. The staff at the front desk really do need training in customer service. Overall we met some lovely people and the resort need to look at there advertising on the internet and there brochures as they do not match to what you see and get when you arrive. Read more

We were here for 8 days and wanted to leave after the first day, but as we had paid in full and couldn't get a refund, we had no other option but to stay. Our room was located at the top of a steep hill. I had a heavily pregnant wife and 1 yr old daughter, so it was very difficult for us to get to the pool and restaurant/bar. There is a resort vehicle […] that will take you up and down the hill when you call reception but sometimes it was such an effort to get a 30 second drive up/down. We waited for 25 minutes once for the car. We asked reception everyday to let us know when a room was available closer to the pool and we were happy to pay the extra, but never got a call. And i must add, there were rooms available. When telling reception about their poor communication skills, thy would always say that the superior would call us back, but they never did. We ended up hiring a car, just to help my pregnant wife get up and down to the restaurant from our room & also so we could leave the resort during the day. Now as for the rooms, our shower literally dribbled water out. There was no way to shower under it, so we had to shower in our parents room. Our fan also didn't work. Our parents room, had no outside light, the fan in the toilet wouldn't work, so you would literally be sweating after being in their for a minute and the power kept tripping out when they boiled the jug. We constantly kept reminding the resort of our maintenance but nothing was ever done to fix it. Was not happy! Read more

We liked the place in general. The rooms are not amazingly modern but quite comfortable and the staff cleans it everyday and made sure we had everything we need. The sugar cane train didn't bother us at all. We liked it because it was a local feature. That was one of the things I'd love to see when I was in Fiji. We also loved the atmosphere in the restaurant in the night, with live band and lights on everyday table. Their staff are very friendly and helpful. The fire dance was amazing. The only thing I didn't like was we had to call the front desk 3 times to get someone to pick our luggage to check out on 26th october I make myself very clear every time when I called. She had to make me call her for the 3 time after half an hour. And after all those she said I told her to pick me up later. I hope as a hotel employee, she could apologize when she made mistakes instead of blaming the guest. If she doesn't understand this, she shouldn't be working in this industry. Read more

You can't swim at the beach in front of the resort as the sand is like a muddy sand its yuck, you have to rely on going on tours or swim in the pool. The train line for the sugar cane fields goes straight through the resort approx 20 ft in front of the rooms & the noise is unbelieveable at 4 am.

Loved the location and the room which was huge with an outdoor spa and lovely view over the bay. Food was great as was the service. A home away from home. Very relaxed atmosphere. Unfortunately the mattress was rock hard so no sleep and a cane train runs through the front of the resort and blows its whistle at 6am. Otherwise a lovely stay.

Very nice staff :) Good to be in a fancy hotel with hot running water to take showers in after being out in the islands. The staff were just so friendly and that is what we like most about Fiji. Having read reviews prior to going, we went with the attitude of " Be happy, be kind and don't sweat the small stuff" so arriving in our room with a toilet that had obviously not been cleaned just meant a call to reception, out for a swim and it was done once we got back. Yes the rooms could do with a top to toe spring clean eg the decorative pillow […] covers could all do with a wash, light switches/door handles cleaned, bed light shades were grimey. We visited during the sugarcane harvest (approx June to Dec) and the sugarcane railway runs right through the resort at all hours day and night, which was a little un-nerving in the middle of the night! And yes the walls were very thin and the bed was on the hard side.However, staff were fantastic, always friendly and helpful. The standout people were Lemeki, Tava, Clive, Sethi and Alessi. The Anchorage was perfect for our stay. It is away from the hustle and bustle of many tourists and had a quiet, calm, peaceful atmosphere. It truly was a relaxing place to stay. The pool was large, the staff very friendly and the cocktails delicious! The food was average but just a short walk down the sugar cane train tracks was the next resort First Landing which had a splendid, but slightly more expensive, menu. The day trip to Beachcomber Island was wonderful. This island had white sand and turquoise waters and really was paradise. Snorkelling and diving was excellent here as the water clear, warm and with lots of visibility. I saw so much sea life underwater here. The Anchorage is nicely located in between Nadi & Latouka. Daily free transfers to both cities are on offer and taken. The staff are pleasant and friendly. The rooms are ok & cleaned daily but they do need maintenance especially air conditioning and shower recess. As for resort activities and interaction between host & guests - they're both non-existant. […] The place is bordering on boredom! The resort has a lovely big pool with swim up bar but the bar is never open!! No lilo or beach balls or anything for the pool - no pool activities whatsoever considering its a main attraction!! On meals, a resort that can only cater for either a set menu or a-la carte on any given night needs reviewing. You only get one choice to go with... Considering the owner Brendan has interests in 2 other resorts, you would think he would know how to greet and/or interact with guests. Nope, stuck at the bar watching rugby league or other sports on TV every night with hardly a word spent on meeting guests. Great way to make resort guests feel welcome and see how things are going at Anchorage Brendan... Unlikely we will go back to the Anchorage but rather travel 2km up the road to First Landing Resort which is a totally opposite world to the Anchorage where the resort owner makes you feel like a guest even if your not a staying guest. The location was in the middle of nowhere, to get anywhere you will need to get a cab and the cabs were more expensive to get in the hotel by 160% . The rooms were not clean. The service was really bad. There was no water in the room, I had to ask 5 - 6 times to get to change the room. They keep on saying its fixed. The new room didnt have lights in […] the room. And it just went on. My room was on the top of the hill, and the kitchen was at the bottom and there was not enough transport. There was no dinner when we reached the hotel at 10pm. To get the food in the room was an extra $5, and my food had some insects. So they offered to redo. but couldnt eat it after what i saw. Great location for granddaughter's wedding which all went to plan. 15 minutes from Latoka and Nadi and boat trip to Beachcombers Island. One lesson learned make sure taxi driver has a meter.

ancourage hotel is right beside the beach and looks awesome from the outside... the staff there are so useless and hopeless..to start off there was no menu in the room.when i called in roomservice and asked for the menu to be dropped off it took them 45 minutes when the restaurant was 2 minutes walk from my room..i had to call the the restaurant two […] times and still nothing was done and than i ended up calling the reception and thats when they dropped off the menu...after that we placed and order for three meals and after one whole hour i ended up calling the restaurant again and that too at 9.30 at night and the lady at the counter than tells me they had run out of lamb racks and no one bothered to tell us that..pathetic service..and than i called in the reception again and tried talking to the duty manager but the recptionist wouldnt let me and its only when i told her that i was not going to pay for the food if it didnt get dilivered in five minutes is when they gotme my food..thats just un called for...i have stayed in three more hotles in nadi before and the only reason i wanted to saty at ancourage was to try something new but that was just mistake by me...never going back there again and wouldnt recomend anyone else to go there either..the hotel staff need a majour attitude change...also aircon wasnt cooling in our room and the fan was not going either...when we called the reception and told them no one even came over to see what the problem was..hopeless service... We booked our accomodation for 5 days online while we were in australia through hotels.com. When we arrived in Fiji we went to the resort twice to check if our booking went through and the staff reasured us it did and as we had booked two conecting rooms we were told by the staff that we will get conecting room when we arrived for our stay. Guess what? […] When we arrived on the booked date we wrere told my two girls were going to stay at the last room upstairs and we were given a room downstairs, which was filthy, dirty. The bathtub was filthy as well. I went back to the reception and refused to take that room. after few words then they decide to give us the very first room upstais. There were few rooms empty, not sure why they didnt give us what we booked. While our stay at the resort few things i noticed - cleaners that cleaned our room daily were very lazy. I saw them brooming and moping the floors as if they didnt want to clean but were forced to, just cleaned here and there not thorough. Toilets got only cleaned after 4 days of our stay when i had to compalin, Bathtub never got cleaned. All the dirty clothes were picked up by the cleaners and left outside the rooms either on the ground or on a chair. Nothing is provided for the cleaners to carry dirty or clean sheets and towels. Shower pressure so slow, will probably take you 20 minutes to have a 10 minute shower. when reported a maintenance guy came up to check and mentioned to us that thats how much presure we supposed to keep. TV- only 3 lowzy channels which are- ABC australian channel, Sports channel and Fiji one. Thank God we took our laptop to keep us busy. Asked for one of the activities advertised were told they dont do it any more. Defenatly if you cant walk up and down the hill dont book this place on mountain veiw. Its really difficult walking up and down the hill every day.I have to say the veiw is amazing, food is great, pool is fun, and some staff are friendly.
