"OK hotel in a good location"
The hotel is not very appealing curbside. It looks like a converted hospital. There was a long line at check in and only 1 clerk on duty, 9 pm Friday on a holiday weekend. The interior is better until you get to your room. Very minimalist. The beds were flat and in need of replacing. There was a fridge in the room but no chair. It feels like a 2 star […] at best. The pool is large and has indoor/outdoor areas. It is very nice and one of the best things that we used. There were always plenty of pool towels available. We could never get the front desk to answer when calling from our room. We had to call the hotel's outside line! They are on the trolley line, so transportation was great getting to and from the Rangers' ballgame. The cleaning staff on our floor (4th) were super and extremely nice. Hotel was completely full because of a sports event and staff looked stressed. We were 3 adults in one room and beds were not queen size, but double, so we were really uncomfortable. The hotel is an older property. Clearly evident that smoking WAS allowed at one time many years ago as the stale smoke smell remains in the hallways. The rooms however did not smell bad. Friendly staff through out the hotel, at the desk, in the bar, restaurant and even the security folks. Even if all those folks weren't friendly, I'd still recommend them. The price is just so super! I had a situation with my room when I got there that night. The staff responded immediately. The staff acted quickly and promptly to my problem. The Hotel manager apologized to me and treated me and my family to breakfast. Even better...I couldnt make it down to the buffet by closing time to take advantage of his offer. "Not what I paid for"
My wife and I booked this hotel the night before we went to Six Flags. When we arrived we had to wait about 20 minutes to check in due to the long line of people checking in. When it finally came to our turn, the front desk had to sift through a stack of papers to find our reservation. It turns out that the room I booked (king bed) was no longer available […] even though I booked it at least 5 hours in advance. Instead, they gave us a choice between a smoking and a non-smoking double bed. We went with the double. Purchased at 3 star unpublished rate. Hotel was very subpar for a 3 star. The 3 stars represented services offered; not how nice the property is. Our unpublished rate was only $8 less than what we could have walked up and paid. Now to the room,,,,,,,Room was outdated and had terribly stained carpet. Mattresses were horrible. "DO NOT GO HERE!!!"
The stay at the Admiral Hotel was poor. The staff was friendly and accomidating, but that was the only good thing we found. The hotel smelt like smoke. The walls in the hallways were old and dirty looking. The carpet was worn and not kept. The room itself was clean, but had a stale smell to it. The ceiling in the bathroom had what appeated to be black […] mold coming out of it. There was a hole in the ceiling as well. The bed was uncomfortable at best. The TV was small and out dated. I asked for an extra towel at the front desk to use after my shower. I unfolded the towel, and held it up to the light. The towel had what appreaded to be "human" stains. I was disgusted! There was a sliding glass door that led to a porch area on the ground floor. The door could not be secured properly. There was a make shift chain latch to secure the door.
