Really enjoyed the hotel and its location. Most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in. My room overlooked the pool and my only complaint is the loud, thumping party music until 2AM. It was a Saturday and the front desk did warn us it would be loud - but till 2AM was excessive. Overall, great stay and would come back if I could get the same great deal. Thank you!

When we pulled up outside the hotel we wondered what we had let ourselves in for! However, once the amazing front door was opened the fabulous decor inside was a real surprise. Really modern and unique but the room was on the small side (and the opaque glass sliding door seperating the bathroom from the bedroom left privacy somewhat lacking!!). Would definitely stay again for a short stay.

The Se San Diego seems torn between wanting to be the coolest, hippest, craziest hotel on the one hand and knowing that it should grow up and be the luxury hotel it was designed to be on the other. The hotel itself is striking. Other than the hallways, the interior gets an A. The crowd, however, is what you might expect to find on college spring break. I started to get a taste of this upon arrival when I was told there was a celebrity in the house, and that she would be hosting the pool bash the next day. The "celebrity" was none other than Tila Tequila of MTV fame, and the hotel staff pumped up her pool party all weekend, claiming it would be bigger, wilder and crazier than the pool parties at The Ivy and the Pearl and any of the other hotels. Sure enough, hundreds of people paid to come party at the pool, and the hotel was rockin' out (and the entire building was literally shaking). Not exactly what you'd expect on a peaceful poolside afternoon at any given Mandarin Oriental or Four Seasons. Nor is the late night mayhem in the halls that seems to be biz-as-usual at the Se (couple screaming at each other, near fist fight, girl sobbing to her friends about some guy, etc etc). If you are seeking a peaceful relaxing vacation, Se San Diego is not for you. It has the elements to be a serious luxury hotel but, at least for now, it seems more focused on being the hotel of the moments and the hippest hotel on the block, and at that it succeeds.

The hotel itself are nice and the rooms are awesome. But the night we went there was a major private party at the pool which rendered it useless to hotel guests. The amount of people, noise and the type of people (douchebags) that where there was offensive. The staff did nothing to alleviate our dissatisfaction. Furthermore, the Gaslamp District is an overrated tourist trap.

when we visited this "hotel" it coincided with an open pool party the hotel put on with a cover charge for non hotel guests. the party consisted of a bunch of low-life 21 year old kids with tattoos all over their bodies wearing hardly anything and drinking to get drunk. there was a dj with extremely loud music and go-go girls on stage dancing in bikinis with fur boots. i felt like i was at a fraternity/sorority party. if you wanted to lay out by the pool, forget it. not that day. the day before we were able to use the pool, but the "kids" that this hotel attracts were getting drunk, falling all over the place, and making out in the pool with each other. not a real classy place. the hotel is beautiful but the clientele and atmosphere is not what we expected or portrayed by the description. it was so loud that we couldn't sleep until the music stopped saturday night about 2 am. so the next day we were groggy and couldn't enjoy the rest of our vacation. next time we will stay out of the city where it is quieter and drive into downtown when we want. there is nothing i guess that the hotel can say or do to change the fact that we were obviously inconvenienced by not being able to lay out by the pool and sleep comfortably in a relatively low noise environment and thus ruining our mini vacation the following day.

I need to vent:The hotel is beautiful and in immaculate condition, the room was nice, bed comfortable, very minimalist decor. But the problem with the hotel is it seems to revolve around its trendy lounge/ night club area. I spent on very sleepless night here, weekdays maybe better. I was on the 14 floor and could feel the vibrations from the music down stair, and through the wee hours of the morning could hear intoxicated people in the hall way slamming there, until around 3.30am. Service is slow 25 minutes to check in, two hours for them to deliver my bags from down stairs. If your young and in the party mood this is the place for you. If you’re a family , or past your 30's you may want to stay somewhere else. 8.00am in the mornimg they still had dance music blasting in the lobby, and outside the hotel.

The Se San Diego is a gorgeous hotel with amazing facilities, but the overall service was lacking. The hourly employees went above & beyond to give great guest service, but there seemed to be a breakdown in communication between the security associated with the club located next to the pool & the management/servers. We reserved two couches in the lounge and some of our friends were not allowed to enter the club & they were on our guest list. I would think for a $800+ bar bill & only receiving 2 1 liter bottles of alcohol, they could have at least let in our group. As a group, we had over 20 rooms reserved & for the money we spent, we were disappointed in the way our group was treated.

The cocktails in the bar are also great, even better when half price at happy hour! try the "energy" cocktail, tequila, chilli, lemongrass and cucumber - incredible! two criticisms are that the room was small and the valet parking was quite expensive ($36) and added to the bill which we werent aware of and werent offered the option. other than that we loved it

There were a few shortcomings in the service at Se: we were instructed to wait in the lobby for an "experience consultant" to check us in but they never came, at one point the valets could not access their own garage to get our car, the pool waitstaff practically has to be tackled to take a drink order, and when we returned to the room at 4:15 it had not yet been cleaned. Now, for the good stuff: they are quite responsive to complaints and made amends quickly, the concierge and front desk staff were very helpful when recommending places to go and how to get there, and the hotel is just gorgeous. Rooms were spacious and stylish (although the bathroom door left a gap when closed, and I'm not a fan of the "rain" showerhead and lack of a shower door). If you're into the pool-party scene, this is a great place to hang out on a weekend. I love that Se is walking distance from so many restaurants, bars, and attractions. Other than to go to the zoo, we didn't even need the car! I would definitely stay again, but I'd also hope that some of the kinks have been worked out by then...

While Se San Diego has chic design appeal, the scene and the service made the stay very unpleasant. Once we arrived to our room we were then informed that there was a pool party going on and that the music would be loud for a short while. No problem, until we realized the music was to last until the wee hours of the night. Room service was extremely slow. When ordering room service coffee in the morning the response was, “Well, is your coffee pot not working?” The staff is basically clueless about how the hotel operates. We could not get a confirmed or straight answer out of anyone. Whenever we had a question a phone call had to be made to get a correct answer. In the end we were compensated a complementary night in the future, as if we ever intended on returning to this hotel. This is a hotel that you go to for poolside drinks to pretend you’re on Miami Spring Break.
