With a window AC unit in the window it was like the window was open to the outside and revelers in the parking lot and highway noise were like they were in the room.

The room was old and the mattress was terrible. I had to find a place on it that did not sag to the box spring.The pool and hot tub were not working due to maintenance the three days I was there. First off, the AC didn't work!!! Thankfully it wasn't a humid night. The hotel staff here were wonderful and very kind people. They helped with any questions and had a willing attitude to help. Unfortunately it does not make up for the overall condition of the hotel which needs serious improvement, if not an overhaul. The exterior is outdated on the […] order of decades with the interior following suit. The hallways are very dark and unwelcoming and somewhat confusing to navigate. If you enter from the rear, there is no clear direction of how to proceed INSIDE the hotel to get to the main desk. It is easier to find the closest exit and go around outside. The room offered was tidy and the beds well made. There were extra pillows supplied and enough towels and toiletries. A half-size fridge is provided, though no microwave. Each room is also fitted with a 32" flatscreen TV which is nice. There were very obvious stains on the rug and walls and some dings on the furniture. The beds were also quite stiff and made for a less than stellar night sleeping there. Overall it was cheap enough to stay one night but certainly no more. Read more

The facility is obviously and older motel and is undergoing upgrades. The rooms are nice size and comfortable. The plumbing fixtures are older and show wear, but they are maintained and cleaned well. A good experience for the budget minded.

If you can see past the "old" and look at the potential of this place you'll get a good value for you money. The first clue we had was seeing a pest control vehicle parked out front and the restaurant was closed. The reception clerk did nothing but register us and gave no overview of any thing about the hotel or the area. My wife found a pest trap for either bugs or rodents under the dresser. (fyi it did not catch anything that night) There was mold stain […] on the ceiling tiles and bathroom. No one dared to use the shower. The lights in the hallway were being repaired and did not work. You would have needed a flashlight to see. The room was very noisy and during the evening there was a constant high pitch sound like a vacuum cleaner working. The next morning I could not get into the lobby area to check out at 7:00am and lodge a complaint. Keep away from this place! We only stayed because it was booked through expedia and could not be cancelled and it was too late when we arrived on a Friday night to find another place. Read more

but then I would have been terrified all night because of the neighbourhood! Room smelled bad and was filthy. Dirt was even caked around the light switches. Upon arrival I was assessed $150.00 security for possible damages, which was refunded at check-out. Damages! We had a room with two queen beds. In some ways the hotel may appear outdated but really it was clean and spacious and met all our needs. the room had a flat screen T.V. and we really enjoyed the salt water hot tub. The area of the hotel has nothing at all in it. It's just a busy street. The center is a 20 minute walk despite the fact that two people working at the hotel told me 10. I was walking fast, and it was definitely 20. The hotel is decent, but it's past its prime. It's okay for a 1 night stay though.

The hotel is definitely affordable and easy to access from the highway.There is microwave access, which is nice, as is the discount on the buffet breakfast. The waitstaff at breakfast was very helpful. That said, the smoke detector in the room didn't work. I asked the front desk to look into it and they did not. One of the lamps was also broken and […] that was also not looked into. The front desk staff was reasonably polite, but not overly helpful. There is a mini-casino downstairs where smoking is allowed. The smoke permeates most of the first floor, including the restaurant. The hotel is located between two major thoroughfares, so if you are a light sleeper, highway noise is unavoidable. The front desk person was very nice. But when we arrived, he informed us that they were currently without any water due to a plumbing problem. After a walk around the town and the water was indeed running when we returned, The hotel is clean but older. It was nice to have the small refrigerator. The location is also an easy walk to the center St. John, part of the harbor and has a sufficient eatery on site. We ate there our first morning and partook in the buffet breakfast. It had enough choices of fruit, muffins, bread cereal, eggs, bacon and sausage to fit the cost and was of good quality. My greatest disappointment was that the web access specified in the web ads was not compatible with my laptop. This was not a Canadian problem as I did get access at a hotel in PEI. reception was very unprofessional.we had booked a king size bed and was confirmed but we were given 2 queen size instead. There was a fowl smell in the halls. The water didn't drain from the bathtub and I had to stand in dirty water to take my shower. Breakfast was good but staff were not helpful when I asked for assistance.

This hotel should not even be listed on expedia. We arrived late and had no choice but to stay the night. There was hair on the pillows, hair in the washroom and everywhere. The rooms smelled musty. The air conditioning was so old I had to have someone from the front desk help us to get it started. There was dirty hand marks on the walls, stains on […] the carpet and this hotel has not been cleaned or updated in years. The outside grounds was all weeds and the grass had not been cut. They hotel is definitely an older building. We stayed in a non-smoking room, however there was a smoking room across the hall, and beside us. So it didn't really end up feeling like we were in a non-smoking room as we could smell it. Breakfast is nothing special. There is toast, simple cereals, 1kind of fruit punch juice. They did offer some home fries, […] baked beans, hard boil eggs, and what looked liked fried balogne. But these foods were left in warming trays, weren't warm and didn't seem appetizing. The location is decent, not right downtown Saint John but 3 km max drive to Market Square. The hotel is more of a motel from the eighties than it is a hotel. It has a saltwater swimming pool and nice exercise equipment. There is a restaurant, unfortunately under renovation while I was there. this made eating a trifle inconvenient - the hotel is not exactly in the centre of things - you have to go beyond ordinary walking distance to get to […] a real restaurant. My first room that first night had a constantly running toilet. I fixed that before checking the rest of the room. The clock/alarm was inoperable. There was no knob to control the heat in the room and the room was on the chilly side. The flat television worked 100%. The front desk changed the room for me - to one next door. Apart from a bathroom fan that screamed in mechanical agony when you turned on one of the lights in the bathroom, everything else worked just fine. Once I had the television worked out (not just a simple switch on!) things went very well. The bed was comfortable, the linens were clean, the towels were almost fluffy. The heat was controllable, the pool and exercise room were accessible. The decor is somewhat overdone - that pseudo-luxury style that had mottled wallpaper and contrasting bands at the ceiling. Maroons, dull greens, greys and beiges were abundantly in evidence. I didn't use the slot machine room off the main desk. It is just on the edge of diving into obscurity somewhere on a road to industrial nowhere. The price is acceptable, the rooms are comfortable and clean. Read more

I booked here to save a few dollars, but it was a huge mistake. The place is old and not very clean. The mattress does not have a fitted sheet, but just a drop sheet of some kind. The bathroom tub was dripping fairly steadily when I arrived, accumulating a pool of rust that was running off the chain for the plug.
