we stayed for 2 nights in the suite, and 2 more in a delux room. the suite was huge and comfortable, but for some reason it didn't include the usual perks of a hotel room -- shampoo, conditioner, etc. the delux room, though smaller, felt much more pampering. Expect more from best western. Value for money was one of the worst ever hotel experiences. 3 flights of stairs, no lift. Carpet old, looked dirty. Unclean showers. Not enough tables at breakfast. Juice was watered down. Miserable. No air conditioning. Do not stay here. Disappointing at best.

We enjoyed our stay at the Columbus Hotel. The location is convenient. It is 3 blocks from an area with many restaurants, bars, etc. although they cater to a young crowd. The Columbus Hotell was difficult for our cab driver to find. However, it is a very pleasant place to stay and very conveniently located to public transportation. We were able to get to any site we wanted to see. The location is quiet but very close to a lot of clubs and is near a City Rent-a-Bike location. With a card (purchased at the Tourist Info […] Desk) you can take a bike from one location and use it for 3 hours then you must return the bike at another location and you can either use the same bike again or use another bike. Comparing what we got for the price we paid for all other hotels during our three week vacation in Scandinavia, this hotel comes in at the bottom. It was a budget accommodation, much like a typical hostel, without a budget price. The bathroom facilities were down the hall and shared with the entire floor. I adored this hotel. The location is fantastic - right near a subway station (Medborgarplatsen) and one of my fave areas of Stockholm to explore, Gamla Stan (the old city). It's centrally located, yet not in the heart of touristy touristy land. Our room was perfect - not very big, but the perfect size for two people. Very comfy and clean. It was on the third floor which was a bit of hike, but nothing one couldn't handle. We did have a communal bathroom, which I was wary of at first, but everyone does their best to keep the bathrooms clean. The hotel also offers a free breakfast, which was perfect. Most of the hotels European hotels I've stayed in do no offer eggs for breakfast, but Columbus Hotell did!! The buffet was excellent - breaks, great tart yogurt, cereal, hard and soft-boiled eggs, cheeses, coffee and juice! They also have a computer and internet you can use free of charge in the lobby. For the price I spent for my one night, this hotel was so worth the value! Esp. considering how expensive Stockholm can be. I wish I could have stayed longer!! Read more

I chose this hotel based on its size and the balance between location and cost. Since this was my first visit to Stockholm, I wasn't sure what to expect but was very pleased to find a clean inn that's close to public transit and a convenient walk to the old city. Breakfast was delicious every day. They even managed to hard-boil eggs properly (no green yolks!) We took advantage of their new bike rental program, and it was fabulously convenient. They provided helmets and locks, and you could keep the bikes out all day. That was easily one of the best days we spent sightseeing. We stayed in a comfortable room in a charming building, well located to public transport and in an intriguing neighbourhood of Sodermalm with attractive shops, cafes and restaurants. Also the hotel had a good quality breakfast and a reasonable bar in the foyer. Artworks throughout the hotel added to the charm.

When walking to the hotel from Central Station we were slightly concerned about the street on which it is located. However we need not have worried it is a great area to stay in, walking distance to the city, a bus stop at one end of the street which was great for travelling with kids as a parent with a stroller travels free and a metro at the other […] end.
